There are location spoilers here

(further down so you still have some chance to bail...)

This is nothing that BioWare have not shared, this is all from the latest Gamescom demo.

(time: 2.02-2.22)

ok. I love maps (hey, I like to check out places I holiday before I go, that's me and it might be you).

From the demo, the war table has a map so I thought I'd look to see what those places were.

  • There are no guarantees that our party goes there, some locations may be unvisited advisor missions.
  • This is certainly an incomplete list as the map markers likely indicate a 'point in game' with others unrevealed.
  • The map markers differ in style which we could speculate about
  • These may all be placeholders, who knows...

The maps as shown in the demo:

There are two, Orlais and Ferelden, so on that basis, no Antiva, Tevinter, Anderfels etc.

Annotated maps.

These maps (chosen for clarity) show marked up locations:

Orlais

  • The Abyssal Reach
  • Cumberland
  • The Dales
  • The Heartlands
  • Natashin Marshes
  • The Tirashan
  • Western Approach
  • Val Royeaux
  • Verchiel

Ferelden

  • Brecilian Forest outskirts
  • Drakon River estuary (NE of Denim)
  • Frost back mountains (South)
  • Halfter River (Arling of Amaranthine)
  • Haven
  • Highever
  • The Hinterlands (between Lothering, Recliffe and Ostagar)
  • Kocari Wilds
  • Markham Coast (Free Marches)
  • Orzammar (above, in or below)
  • Pilgrim's Path or Wending Woods (Arling of Amaranthine)
  • Redcliffe
  • Temple of Andraste
  • Vimmark Mountains (on or under?)
  • Wildervale (West of Wildervale)

Are any of these particular locations 'must visit' places for your party?

The Brecilian Forest! I certainly wasn't expecting to be able to go that far east!

Remember, they never said anything about us being able to go there, this is just speculation. Orzammar is also listed and yet the devs confirmed that we can't go there.

Good point. I should probably keep my expectations low.

Most of them are probably not visitable but Targets of Missions you can send your Advisors or generally Underlings to.

Exactly, they may be advisor mission destinations, but interesting to see nonetheless.

I'd love to see the outside of Highever castle, and if the warden was a male city elf, see a female NPC elf talking about him.

NPC:  The warden, fighting for us all...sometimes I wonder...but there's no point in dwelling on the past.

Plus appropriate comments if the warden was a human noble.

Ok I'm pretty sure we can actually go to Val royeaux the mission was titled Alliance: Observing the Deadlock making me believe it is the start to the Orliasean Civil war

Actually my bad that mission isn't it in Val Royeaux it seem to be in Val Foret acording to the map in TME and asunder but there is a mission called addressing the chantry so maybe we do go there

IIRC we're know we're going to the Hinterlands, to the Abyssal reach, at least a couple of locations in the Dales

So I think the round markers have a definite correlation with places we know we're actually visiting, while the triangles clearly include places we aren't.  Round markers might be keeps?

It'll be interesting to find out if you can actually visit all the locations on that map, or some of those places can only be interacted with in the war room.

If this is correct, it looks like we'll be going to Val Royeaux.

In the actual screenshot, Val Royeaux has a different, unique looking, marker to the round ones

True. I didn't notice that.

Good theory Wolfram,

I notice Redcliffe is a pyramid and we know we are going there.

The Abyssal Rift is also confirmed and is a Seeker symbol,

so I don't think you're right, but good to puzzle it through.

The lights may relate to active or unstarted/available missions?

If the round markers are keeps, I wouldn't expect you to have one in Redcliffe.

I noticed that too! I doubt he's still hanging around that area, though.

True, though I could understand why we'd send some people there, if Cory is indeed an agent.

If you look at the BioWare site map, the corrupted Lyrium Thaig in the Deep Roads is under the Vimmark Mountains,

so it could be that too.

I think there are 3 types of round bases

One is bird in flight, seen only in The Hinterlands

One I can't identify, but seems only to be in The Korcari Wilds

One might be a Seeker or Inquisition symbol, seen South Frostbacks, Near Amaranthine, twice in The Dales, Verchiel, Western Approach and Abyssal Reach

South Frostbacks and and South Dales both have white bases.  The Redcliffe pyramid appears to have something at the top of it?
