Is it me, or is it easier to play with bad pugs?

As strange as it sounds, sometimes it just feels like I have an easier time playing with pugs on Platinum. I'm talking low level, scrubby, no gear, poor weapon choices, pugs not Harrier TGI, or GI's carrying ones. Having another person in the group that knows what they are doing can certainly help, but generally speaking I find playing with friends or BSNers harder (not talking score).

I feel that the reason is that better players are generally more aggressive and pick harder maps with random enemies, while playing with weaker load outs, all of which leads to them/us getting downed out in the open, followed by some rage gelling and also sometimes only playing with 2 or 3 vs the full 4.

VS pugs that tend to stay in a group and pick a map and enemy beforehand. Sure they can go down quickly but often in an easy spot for you to revive them.

Anyone have a similar opinion or experience?

Nope.  Can't say I have had that experience.

Nope, because those randoms are all down and out and then I have to kill everything. I may play more cautious with bad randoms, but no way is it easier than playing with someone that knows what they are doing.

Not easier but playing with 3 mobile decoys whom you don't have to give f*** about is what I like to do sometimes.

What is this pick harder maps witchcraft?  Unknown/Unknown or GTFO (except for the occasional all Krogan Geth punishment class)

Can't say I agree that it's easier with PUGs, mostly it involves me scoring higher and clutching more often.  Low level PUGs go down more often and the suicide revival team can make things go bad very quickly (bless them)  It took me a long time to get out of that reflex.  Especially when they go down right in the middle of the crossfire zone.

Nope. I will say some that are "good" at the game and rocket spawns a lot cause me problems though. Spawn shifts particularly when Primes are in the budget are problematic.

Solo'ing is easier than playing with 3 bad pugs. Especially devices.

Not that I can actually claim any experience of playing with people who are more clueless about the game than I am, but, there may be an element of psychological pressure to play more seriously when playing with BSNers, or people who clearly know what they are doing.

Whereas when you play with cl00l355 n00b5 you can do what you like, right?

I have not had that experience playing with PUGs.  My experience is that at least 1-2 of them are so bad that it's rarely even worth reviving them.  This makes matches more stressful, because you know that if you get killed, the match is likely going to go south in a hurry.  When you're playing with a couple of other good/decent players, you can be a little more aggressive and have a little more fun.

I think what happens is the pace is changed by having a few baddies in the mix.

Playing with BSNers means faster games and that can seem like pressure or slightly more difficult games.

More noobs lets you control the kills and how the game goes.  More BSNers means more chaos - which is actually more fun.

I can agree with this on that point. When you are with several experienced PUGs then more often than not I will have to take the sub-optimal blocking location to control spawns beause the others won't do it. When playing with newer PUGs they don't quite have a grip on spawns so its easier to push spawns into easy for me to reach locations.

Experienced PUG groups are faster.

The random element of PUGs keeps things interesting.

Not really, no. At least for me playing with BSNers is always easier.

But I would say, that having four good players in lobby can sometimes create similar unpredictability as playing with weak players. Especially because the speed with which they wipe spawns can "mess them up". The not easier part is that in order to kill something, one has to be more aggressive(which in my case leads to making more mistakes for example).

But in the end, BSN games are generally more rage gels, insanely fast games, while weak players games are long with fair possibility of wipe.

Usually bad pugs stay in the same spot, so it's easier to know where the spawns are going to be. Most do everything they can to help on objectives. Some times too much...

They help as distractions for enemies, but if you get synced they are useless to the point of annoying. There is nothing more sigh-inducing than watching some idiot with a GPR and Mantis spend five minutes switching between the two to try and kill an Atlas which is way above their pay grade.

For me it's easier to play with horrible pugs with no clue than with ok pugs who have an idea on what to do. Mainly on objective waves. The horrible pugs will die and bleed out and I can solo the round. The ok pugs tend to crowd around the device (as an example) and lead all the enemies there instead of drawing them away.  So the jump from horrible to bad can be painful to deal with, but anything above bad and there really isn't an issue.

Well, since I don't too often care how much any player scores .. I generally consider bad PUGs those that don't help with the objectives, so no, it is never easier playing with those players.

Playing with really inexperienced players can be an ego stroke as you tend to score really high, but there is more pressure not to get downed or sync'd since no one else will be able to pick up the slack.

I think you are confusing scoring high with playing better or the game being easier. I play better with 3 other good pugs because I can be even be more aggressive than when playing with bad pugs since I have to be a little bit cautious of my sync-kills which are essentially mission fails majority of the time with bad pugs.

playing with bad pugs does wonders for my self-esteem... but easier? no, that is the complete opposite of my experience.

yes, it's my experience that BSNers tend to be a LOT worse than they would have you think, even in the rare instance that they aren't sorely under-equipped for platinum.

I guess I kinda agree. There have been times when I've played with "good" players who have ended up letting the game down; rage-gelling, unnecessary rockets, flying all over the map and getting in over their heads and/or getting downed somewhere I can't get to them. But, similarly, I've played good matches with good players. And good matches with "bad" players (N7 8 once dropped into a Gold match with me and two friends, but with our help he actually did really well. I know that's not a PUG but he was a random).
