I don't really care who the Elder One is, I'm super excited to face him no matter what. And dat voice!
Dorian: Beware! The Elder one has a bewitching voice!
Inquisitor: *entranced* Reeeaaally?
I have doubts about it being Corphy - purley because that won't make sense for someone coming into the series. And yeah. too easy.
Elven sleeper - perhaps a bit obscure, for gamers only, but if it's in the books, I suppose it has some weight. Yet, somehow that doesn't quite feel right to me, I think it would have something to do with OG or DS, based on the Warden encounter at the end of act 2.
Maybe an new OG, but why is he awakening now? But, this is the most likely of the four.
Either an old OG, but more likley OGB, or something derived from him. Like Flemeth. Hell IDK.
4) A previously tainted Old God - The most common God to use with this is Dumat (seeing as his altar still held power in Legacy), and Urthemiel (OGB), but if you think about it then it could be any Old God. It is entirely possible that the Wardens sacrificing themselves doesn't actually slay the Archdemon, why should an Archdemon's soul be so vulnerable as to be destroyed by a single human soul? Maybe the Wardens simply freed the souls of the Old Gods from their captivity and allowed them to return to the fade. Regardless any previously tainted Old God could very well be the Elder One.
I think we can rule out Cory since he speaks with a weird accent, and the bad guy from the trailer was using a generic, if menacing, English accent. I think that the only things we can establish about the Elder One is that he's bad, he likes to talk, and he wants to start a new religion. With him as God, naturally.

By me!
Well as long as it someone / something that has been presented in the DA lore before, I won't mind who it is. Never been a fan of the concept of some threat appearing out of nowhere and suddenly being this all powerful thing which eclipses every other threat the franchise has presented previously.
Of course, it depends on how well it is executed.
Elder One = Has to be Morrigan's son. He has the blood of Flemeth in him (who associated with a dragon) and the soul of an old god. Makes sense to me. And he is techincally "new". And remember Morrigan going on about "change" in Witch Hunt. A new "God" would certainly count as change. And in Witch Hunt she used the mirror to go to a different realm. Where he could grow and gather power and could be why they keep saying "he will come".
Bioware should really just post screenshot of Morrigans son to silence all you "OGB is main antagonist/OGB is Inqusitior" types lol.
Pls change title to The Elder One Discussion/Worship Thread.
I for one welcome our new God.
Same here. I wonder if we can side with him?

Well I hope you have some cash on hand, because you're going to have to buy DAI to fight Elder Dude over it.
Has anyone been able to identify the voice actor behind (presumably) the Elder God in the beginning of the trailer? I swear, the voice sounds so familiar, but I just can't place it.
I have the most convoluted, amazing theory about who/what the Elder God is, but I was going to use that speculation in an old discussion thread that I created and then forgot about. Perhaps I'll share it here, later. ![]()

Already preordered it...
Just something to note about the dragons, there are 3 distinct dragons in the trailer... Whether any of them are sentient, shape shifters, demons, or whatever is hard to say... None of them appear to be Flemeth. And whether or not Morrigan is one of this is also a question to answer... That leads me to believe perhaps, you are able to capture the ferelden frostback, Morrigan can then study it and learn its form, so *maybe* the "friendly" dragon is Morrigan, and not actually the ferelden frostback.
The ferelden frostback (or shape shifted morrigan) which "appears" to be friendly.
This guy... presumably the elder one.
And also this guy, which appears hostile.
Already preordered it...
Well, best get to training then, because you have less than a hundred days to get ready for the big fight.
...
This guy... presumably the elder one.

The second one looks like a new type of High Dragon.

I think the first one could be a normal dragon corrupted by Red Lyrium, like the Red Templars. We hear the voice of the Elder One in the background, but it's a trailer, so it doesn't mean the dragon itself is speaking.
The second one looks like a normal high dragon. Probably Bioware was getting bored of comments like "why every dragon so far looks the same?" and decided to show new models.

While it is true that the Big Bad doesn't have to be a dragon, or even able to shift into a dragon, it would make sense. Suddenly dragons went from almost extinct to popping up all over the place, at the same time as the Fade Breach and the big bad's plans, coincidence? I think not. The dragons are related, somehow, to this whole mess, and the Elder One is at the heart of it all!

Some spoilers about dragons if you haven't read the comics , be careful.
I wonder if the elder one and venatori leader have a saren + sovereign type of relationship? Where the venatori leader is an unwitting pawn who thinks he can achieve imortality and godhood by helping the elder one.
When in reality the elder one just wants to be freed and free all the sleeping dragons. Maybe the venatori leader will turn into that weird rachni like creater that hawke sees?
His laugh at the end of the trailer cracks me up everytime.

To me, it sounds like the guy who did Justice's voice in DA2. Y'know, when he got really angry.
Could he possibly be The Formless One? Then again, in the games the forbidden ones hadn't seemed terribly important to the plot.
I wonder if it's Fellassan's boss?
Probably, Felassan seemed to be taking orders from someone who attacked others in the Fade (like an Elven Sleeper, or maybe an Old God), so it seems likely that Felassan was a part of the Elder Ones cult/agents.

Especially the timing. Whether or not the video matches up with the dialogue him laughing while the friendly dragon tackles him just makes him seem so badass.

Imshael (sp?) is almost certainly going to be more important than the 2 Forbidden Ones in the previous games, seeing as he has an actual plot this time rather than just an optional boss fight. He had a lot goin' on in Masked Empire.
