My question though: Is the Elder One the mutated, zombie like dragon, or the googly eyed spider monster thing? I feel like it's the latter.

I think its Felessan btw.
NOPE. HE'S DEAD, GODDAMIT.
Though I'm wondering if the Elder One or another of his servants was Felassan's boss.

Doesn't mean he wouldn't take the body for himself, if he was Felessan's boss ![]()

Hmmmm, perhaps an avatar on the mortal plane? I could stomach that.

From the new "writers talking about writing villains" QA on the official website.
[DA]: In any story of good and evil, you have to have a powerful foe to stand in the hero's way. How would you describe the "Elder One" from Dragon Age: Inquisition in one word?
[DG]: Relentless.
[SF]: Let's go with "ambitious."
[LK]: Arrogance. Not "arrogant"—that's somehow not enough. He has a confidence born of absolute certainty that in his estimation no others can comprehend. He will do what needs be done.

You know? If the Elder One is prone to evil laughter, he'd basically be Emperor Palpatine.

I'm starting to think if the Elder One might be a fake persona: a mastermind that made lots and lots of people think he is super powerful, but in reality he's just really good at manipulating people and it's his minions who have all the real power.

That sounds like that terrible plot twist in Iron Man 3, but possibly done better lol

Note really. IM3 had a fake dude being presented like a mastermind being manipulated by someone with power. My idea is that the mastermind present himself has this Elder One, but really isn't such an entity.

I just remembered that Chris Priestly teased a long time ago about a spider creature even more horrible than the monstrous spiders in DA2... I think we've seen what he was referring to, now.
And yeah, that's an understatement. ![]()

I'm practically positive this is the case. Especially considering we see an Elven Mage in the fade doing some important looking stuff. That mage we see could either be the disembodied Felassan, or another Elven Sleeper. It is probably a different sleeper since Felassan is explicitly 'killed' in the novel. Whoever the Elder One is he either controls several Elven Sleepers or is one himself.

Elder One: Oh I'm afraid the fade shields will be quite operational when your friends arrive...
