There's nothing wrong with vanilla.  That's my favorite ice cream.  But I did not pick human male.

If you find an option boring, don't pick it. Just because it is boring to you doesn't mean it is to someone else.

I will never understand why you people feel the need to belittle others choices. Why do you care what someone else does in their game. The majority will play as a Human Male and it shouldn't matter. Deal with it.

I don't understand why people feel the need to judge how other people play the game I mean really is it that big of a deal, does people playing something different that you physically hurt you or something?

Seems to me you're the one judging... I was just curious why people choose that so often. :-) You can unclinch your sphincter and relax now.

So many people picking humans. Seriously, we finally get racial choice back after almost not getting this game and people are still going to play as a boring human?

 

I can't help to play a male and a human because I'm male and I'm human  shocking I know.

Vanilla still tastes nice.

It's sweet without being overpowering.

 

Humans are one of four interesting well written races in Thedas.

They are also arguably the most powerful race.

 

 

Anyway:

If Humans are vanilla

Elves are strawberry

Dwarves are rum and raisin

Qunari are mint and chocolate. Yeah I'm going to play as a Qunari female first.

I was wanting to roll a dwarf for the Inquisitor, but then came the whole Fade ability, and then I thought a mage would fit the Inquisitor the best.

Maybe Dwarf in DA4 for me.

To folks wondering about why so many choose human, here's my reasoning:

 

I like to play human on my 1st run because it's what I played 1st in DAO, and obviously every time in DA2. It's nice to start with the familiar for some people, or like with me maybe they've established a gaming tradition with the franchise and want to continue it. The nice thing about an RPG is that any way you choose to do it is still the "right way".

 

Also, I play every race and class, so I find the order unimportant.

I can't bring myself to play a human until I've played every other race first, it's just a personal thing, I get to experience being a human all the time in daily life, so I want to experience being a different race any time I'm given the opportunity. This is the reason I want to be a qunari, I've never been given that option before and I want to make sure that I try out the new before I move on to the familiar.

I'm playing human first because I want my first inquisitor to be as un-world weary and curious as possible, and I think a Circle-raised Mage fits that bill perfectly.

A Dalish Mage and Qunari Apostate would logically be more experienced and knowledgeable about the world, and from an RP perspective I only feel comfortable doing that in a playthrough where I as the player actually possess that "advanced" knowledge of the world.

Really suprised how popular mage is. Usually the Warrior/Soldier type of class is the most popular one in such kind of games.

the majority is picking humans again

"hardcore" players always say how boring playing as a human is and how disappointing it was

that DA2 had only humans now I'm wondering if all the extra resources Bioware put into different races were even worth it or not

 

I will try  a Qunari first this time but if it doesn't work out (like previous dwaf and elven warden of mine who never made it past Ostagar)

I will go back to human !

 

Still I'm surprised that more people want to play as Elfs than Qunari

Less than 50% of pollers (at the time of this post) voted human.

That said, this poll better reflects The Bioware Forum as opposed to the general player base.

 

If this was gamers in general, male humans would probably (I'm speculating here) make up more than 50% of the vote.

This is speculation though.
