Race: Qunari

Gender: Male

Class: Warror

Specialization: Champion

Traits: Lawful, Stoic, Moral, Commanding

Who knows, I may start over after a couple of hours just to create a whole new character.  I really want to do a human male rogue with a great sense of humor.

After just having seen Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time today, I've decided one of my playthroughs my Inquisitor will be heavily inspired by Rocket Raccoon.

He will be the most adorably jerkish rogue Thedas has ever seen, and everyone will love him for it in spite of themselves.

It's nice to see how the male/female playthrough plans are pretty evenly split. The two possibilities I see there are that most people are going to play as their own gender, at least at first - which means that DAI has a healthy number of women who are serious about the game (serious enough to be BSN posters, at any rate); or there are more players of one gender or the other, but a lot of them are comfortable playing as the opposite gender.

Either way, pretty nifty! And yes, I know that BSN doesn't accurately reflect all gamers across the board; but I've heard a lot about how "real gamers," ie people who go on website forums and are really into certain games, are almost always dudes. I'm glad to see at least a little bit of evidence to the contrary.

(Edited to remove three different uses of the word "cool")

I think one of the reasons people pick human is because humans get more options story wise and get to make important decisions I mean in DA:O the endings sucked for a female elf thats just my opinion anyway so I'm sticking with human/female/mage for my first one would love to try out a fem qunari though

Eh, I think it has to do with comfort level as much as anything; plus the fact that a lot of gamers want to pretend to be the character, not just play with the character as an avatar. So if you're that type of gamer, and you're not able to imagine yourself as a non-human, you're more likely to pick a human character.

I always like playing the results at all costs type. Qunari Male is really tempting, but I feel I'll get the most out of the game in that first play through as a Human. Qunari Male will be my second playthrough, most likely!

Is strange I think.  Why are humans so overwhelmingly male while every other race has taken a feminine bent so far?

Is just an odd observation.  I'm really glad though to see more girl dwarves like I intend to play.  Dwarven female representation for the win!!!  So tired of always seeing male dwarves in everything.  Like dragon age 2, what happened there?

I usually go with human first because I feel more comfortable exploring and "messing up" with them in my first playthrough. I get more defined PCs the more playthroughs I do so I'm saving the elves, dwarves, and qunari for later.

Race: Human Male (Noble)

Class: Rogue Assassin

Key traits: Commanding, Charming, Lover, Amoral

My inquisitor will be a noble who enjoys just about everything to do with being a noble and all it's perks except for the social etiquette. With a  dominate personality he would classify himself as an alpha male and go to extreme measures to ensure the loyalty and dedication of his inquisition as he sees himself as a leader. Charming when he wants to be and a known lover he will sleep with every man, woman and dragon (what?)  possible and think nothing of it. He will do whatever is necessary to achieve his goals and therefore there is no "right" or "wrong" for him there is only his way and the other way. He shows no mercy to those who would harm him and his family. He repays the loyalty of his inquisition followers by accepting them as part of his extended family but will not hesitate to strike down disloyal soldiers.

As a fighter there is no such thing as honor to him. He fights to win and will use whatever is at his disposal to do so, including an unhealthy obsession with poisons. He will favor Leliana's spy tactics as an adviser knowing all too well how important espionage is due to his noble background. While he judges most people on their character and not social status he definitely has a bit of elitism in him, feeling himself better then those of more humble origins and showing greater respect to those who have a lot of power such as kings and queens.

He has no opinion on the chantry other then "church girls are freaks in bed". He respects the power of magic but see's the need for it to be controlled. He holds no specific prejudice against elves but like with more humble humans he see's himself as better. He feels the qunari are a threat to his and most of Thedas's way of life and would not support them in anyway. Overall his goal in life is to rise to be the powerful leader he knows he is meant to be.

I find this poll fascinating. I will probably play a rogue elf, possibly a rogue qunari depending on backstory, because I like to roleplay "myself" which means playing a character that is both male (my gender) and outside of the "elite structures."

What I find really interesting is that while the majority are male human, there are more female then male characters in Elf, Qunari and Dwarf categorise. I wonder what that means. While males can play females (and visa versa), I wonder if it signifies that women who tend to be "othered" in social discourse, feel more comfortable playing these non mainstream races then men?

I am curious how other people interpret that trend.

Human male warrior who is a moral, diplomatic, lawful, neutral comedian.

A human female warrior would've been my first choice but, unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the female inquisitor's voice. There's still hope though, as I have yet to hear the American VA.

My first character is generally always this for RPGs, something of a tradition. I always go for a male human warrior who is something of a goody-two-shoes, then subsequent playthroughs I go through most of the options.

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Class: Warrior

Spec: Said none, but only because I won't decide that until I'm playing

Traits: Diplomatic, focused, stoic, moral.

Serafino ???

Gender: Male
Race: Human
Class: Warrior (Two-Handed, Hammer)
Specialization: Templar
Traits: Diplomatic, Neutral, Focused, Charming, Commanding, Friendly, Moral

Romance: Cassandra or Josephine

Party: Varric. EVERY. TIME. Rest of the party depends on the situation and/or personal connection a party member may have to a given mission.

I usually make self-insert characters, but decided to change it up a little bit this time around. Was fighting with either going Champion or Templar for specialization, but Templar feels like it will be more interesting story-wise, with the whole Templar/Mage war going on and all.

Before becoming the Inquisitor, Serafino was a Templar that believed that Mages should learn to responsibly hone their gift, but not treated like prisoners, or worse, the enemy. He would witness the abuse of Mages from his fellow Templars and would intervene when able, creating both friends and enemies in the process. His definition of justice doesn't always coincide with what is law, rather he follows what he feels to be the moral thing to do. Although always looking for a diplomatic solution to problems, Serafino is more than capable of handling himself on the battlefield, inspiring those around him with his commanding presence.

I voted. :-) But the interesting thing about all of mine (and a lot of other people probably) is that it doesn't at all exist in a vacuum. It's designed to play off the characters that precede it. Also, it's most likely my only playthrough as human, maybe one of two if they open up a sixth Keep slot. Also the only rift mage, etc. They'll all be very unique. I wonder what a pole about replays would show.

I intend to play this Knight Enchanter as a walking fortress in heavy armor and melee prowess, given his size maybe.

He's gonna be like me in a bad mood i guess, cynical, unfriendly, but caring inside and compassionate.

Basically he's gonna be a good guy that makes you think he's a bastard. Like, the bad guy that helps you in his own way, although you thought he wanted to murder you all along.

Anyone else find it interesting that so far that if the inquisitor is any race other than human they're most likely a female?

Is strange I think.  Why are humans so overwhelmingly male while every other race has taken a feminine bent so far?

I noticed that too, thought it was a tad odd. Interesting, though. Maybe women are more likely to be willing to play as non-human the first go around? This is, of course, partly assuming everyone is playing their gender - and I know that's not the case:

It's nice to see how the male/female playthrough plans are pretty evenly split. The two possibilities I see there are that most people are going to play as their own gender, at least at first - which means that DAI has a healthy number of women who are serious about the game (serious enough to be BSN posters, at any rate); or there are more players of one gender or the other, but a lot of them are comfortable playing as the opposite gender.

I'm glad to see at least a little bit of evidence to the contrary.

Count me as one of the number skewers - I'm female but play as males 90% of the time. I'm a sucker for beards and strong features. ;) (Seriously, even in women, I like sharper features and I often have a hard time making this happen for a female PC in most CC's). But yes, I am very comfortable playing as a different gender. I'd almost say more comfortable even, as I personally tend to feel awkward if I RP a self-insert, and I'm more likely to feel self-insertish if I play a woman. There's exceptions, but I find it more fun to play as someone who isn't me, completely get out of myself for a time. Really excited to see the number of female Inquisitors though, regardless - and I know I'll play at least a couple of women Inquisitors at some point.

Only 13 dwarven men? Where all my dwarf brothers at?! \O/

Male dwarven rogue, reporting in! (Seems like most of my first Inquisitor choices are almost all in the minority of the options. Part of me is pleased by this, oddly enough)
