I hope not. The last thing I want is for Inquistion to morph into a 150 hour session of the 700 Club.

It's bad enough that everyone refers to the Inquisitor as the "Herald of Andraste."

The first npc who calls me that is going to get the middle finger salute.

It could be a desire demon messing with the Inquisitor's head.

It can't be a mere spirit of hope or the like. If it really does give you the fade brand it has to be more than that, someone actually important.

Wait, that wasn't the Inquisitor's late mother trying to save her child!?

I wondered if it was her myself.  Likely its a powerful spirit of "good".

Something tells me the Maker exists, though.  Regardless of what the The Elder One says.

When he said to call the Maker's wrath upon him, I would have replied "I am his wrath."

I think it was Andraste, considering a nickname for the Inquisitor is the Herald of Andraste

As I have said before, it reminds me more of Gumby than Andraste.

O.o I really don't understand the fear that the use of "Herald of Andraste" or other such in-game/lore-based religious overtones somehow means BW is going to try to force religion down the players throat. 700 Club? Really? The folks at BW seem very positively aware of issues of diversity, progressive thoughts, inclusion, etc... I cannot for the life of me imagine them -forcing- any in-game theology or ideology on us.

These trailers on offer us snippets, often stitched together all over the place in terms of plot. I think the perception of NPCs may well stress their beliefs, but I'm very confident that we, the players/Inquisitor, will have the choice to respond accordingly with varied options and results. I also think BW will continue to keep the question of religious veracity ambiguous as they have thus far :)

No.

Andraste doesn't look like an alien with a funny hat. She's either at the Maker's side or was a Dragon-God incarnate. My gut tells me that the spirit in the trailer is an Elvhen ancestor that's in Uthenara.

... or was a normal human being that led a slave insurrection and was executed for her crimes.

There is nothing which points to Andraste actually being divine. The only evidence which the Chantry cites is the healing power of Andraste's ashes, and that can be explained by the high concentration of Lyrium in the ruined temple where they were kept (see Oghren's comments in Origins).

Even if Andraste was normal she really wasn't. But sure, if you want to think she was your run of the mill barbarian rabble-rouser knock yourself out. I like the Dragon-Lady option myself.

Eh? What does that mean?

Are you saying that, by virtue of her actions and presence on the world stage, Andraste is exceptional? I can agree with that. She obviously had a significant impact on the history of Thedas. It doesn't take a god, however, to effect change.

I think its far more likely that its either a powerful demon or spirit that took a form in order to give the Inquisitor the power to combat the Elder One's plan.

It can't be the Devine unless I'm mistaken she doesn't have fade-god powers.

I think the Maker exists as well. I'm just not sure if it is actually the creator (a.k.a. god) or just a very powerful fade entity.

Doubtful, she was wearing the divine's Hat, so likely Justinia.

I think this won't be answered by the devs. Instead, it'll be left out in the open and up to our interpretation.

Some may think its andraste (why is she showing up now, who knows?) Others may think its a spirit. Other may think its an elven god.

Either Andraste or what Lady Insanity said, Divine Justinia.

Or it's someone who can explain Leliana's possible resurrection. (after the ashes were corrupted)

OR

It's possible but since it's also in the fade when the Inquisitor meets "Andraste" it could also be a spirit of faith or some other spirit maybe.

Relax.

Remember in DA:O? You had the choice to basicly corrupt and destroy the ashes of andraste for all time. The achievement was even named sacriligious.
So we will definitely get some counter-theist options this time aswell.

I'd like for this to actually be left ambiguous entirely.

Let's say the Inquisitor describes the figure to your companions/important figureheads and multiple interpretations are given. Solas might think it's a Spirit of Hope, Leliana says its Andraste, while Sera says its Mythal. Maybe the Avvar you meet claims you met the Lady of the Sky. That way the play can draw their own conclusions.

The hat definitely makes me think of the Divine.

Now, why she's in the Fade, and glowing? No clue!

We know she's present at the explosion at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. Perhaps whatever caused the Breach pulled others besides the Inquisitor into the Fade, and the Inquisitor is the only one who has the good fortune of coming back out?
