...judging from the latest Gamescom video.
What I pity, I hope that for once, a dual-wielding rogue would be the canon (the idea of a rogue operating in secret fits also quite well with the overall concept of an "Inquisitor"). We already have had a Canon Warrior - whether it was the Malcom Cousland from the trailers or the female Dalish Warrior - in DA:O; while in DA][ the Canon class was a Mage.
It seems that the two-handed Warrior is the Canon Inquisitor...

Looks like I'll be 0.5 for 3 then! (male Cousland Sword and Shield, female Hawke 2-hander, Dalish Inquisitor mage)

You create the Inquisitor. There is no canon PC.
Canon is unchanging.
5th Blight
Duncan dying
Kirkwall rebellion
Anders the Catalyst
Stuff like that, which never changes in any playthru.

Since when were trailer and demo characters the 'canon'?
It gives you the idea about what fits the atmosphere and the story better. This was the case for DA:O, a very war-focused game, as well as for DA][, which was centered around the mages' rebellion.

The DMI (Default Male Inquisitor) is the one they use for trailers as it's the safest bet for marketing. Easiest to work with and recognize with new players. They use all different kinds of Inquisitors for the demos to literally demonstrate the diversity which is available to the player. That is all.
But the DMI can be of different classes.

I don't think we have any way of knowing what gender/race/class the Default Inquisitor is until we see the default setting for Dragon Age IV. BioWare's default Warden is a female Dalish elf, but she was never in any trailers or demos.
Also, why does it even matter? With the Keep, we can make the Warden, Hawke and Inquisitor whichever class we like anyway.

But the DMI can be of different classes.
Warrior armor is much more distinctive than mage robes and thief jerkins. It's all about what catches the perspective buyers eye. Nothing else.

There is no single "canon" Inquisitor, same for Hawke and the Warden. Bioware has a default world-state with certain choices and configurations, but that doesn't mean that other options are non-canon.

I don't think their demos constitute canon. We've actually seen more of the Qunari female mage. They switch it up a lot.

They chosed a warrior for the demonstration. You decide what class you want to be. They could easily had a female mage in the demo.

Considering the protagonist for Bioware games rarely ever gets mentioned except in name only in other mediums (comics, novels, and ect..) it really doesn't matter. Pretty much what is solid cannon is that Warden defeats Archdemon, Hawke starts/was at the starting point of a big conflict, and Inquisitor closes rifts. (Anything else really doesn't get mentioned in anything else.)
Same thing for Mass Effect: Shepard stops Saren, Shepard stops Collectors, and Shepard stops Reapers. Very rarely in other mediums do we get references to the smaller stuff the player character does.

There is no canon.
That said, I'm cool with it, if so. My main Warden was a rogue and Hawke a mage.. I've always liked warrior, but never exactly settled on a concept yet. The Inquisitor might be it.

I don't think a 'canon' Inquisitor exists until supplementary material is released that requires one. There's only a 'canon' Warden and Hawkes because the books and comics can't just ignore these people.
Also, I feel like our eventual canonical is going to be the Vashoth Mage, they spent a lot more time with her in those demos.

Mine is going to be a 2 handed dwarven warrior male. So I guess I got it half right.

BioWare's Canon is only relevant if you don't intend to import data.

One video isn't enough to determine what class the Inquisitor Bioware's marketing is.
