They both seem to be shape-changers, cloners, or possessors-to-be-come
The Elder One might be the Forbidden One, the Formless One.

I'd be happy if a Forbidden One was a main villain instead of a side quest

I think that the Elder One is in charge of all the Forbidden Ones.

My guess; the elder one is that guy taking off his hood with the tattoo or whatever on his forehead.
Why? Kind of reminds me of the alien from Prometheus that predate the humans.
Admitably thats not much to go on but DA does love its references.

Just waiting for "The One Above All" to appear in some kind of DLC or sequel.

Im thinking one of the old Magister Lords, like Corypheus. I keep thinking about Sandals prophecy when he says when he "Rise" everyone will see.

Corypheus will be there, but I think the big bad is bigger.
For all of Corypheus' power, he is still a very old mage, not a god.

Just from what the Elder One said and how he said it, I think he could very well be a Greater Pride Demon.

Plus, I dont really see the Forbidden Ones as the main antagonists at all. Though I believe they will play a major role.

The Elven god, the Trickster also known as Fen'Harel who betrayed the Elves, the Elven Pantehon and the forgotten ones alike is still in Thedas.
That doesn't work. Fen'Harel is the only Elven "god" who haven't been imprisoned in the Fade or the Abyss. He was free to start his cult anytime in the last 2000+ years.
This guy seems more related to a bunch of hints we have since at least the Witch Hunt DLC: "The prison is breached. I see the encroaching darkness. The... the shadow will consume all...".

I think the Elder One is either the Forgotten One or Dumat.

The voiceover in the latest trailer sounded like Corypheus, yeah.

I want to go on record and say that I believe Fen'Harel is Flemeth or merged with her like Justice and Anders.... my opinion
I think the Elder One is either the Forgotten One or Dumat.
Dumat was the Archdemon in the First Blight and was destroyed by the Grey Wardens in the Ancient Age

That guy's probably Dalish, and those are his facial tattoos. Also you can briefly see what looks like Morrigan standing just behind him.

I'm not trying to argue, just inquire.... What leads you to thinking that he is alive?

His shrine still worked in the Legacy dlc. Also, Corypheus's prayer to Dumat seemed to increase his power.
I think he's dead too. But there is evidence to suggest otherwise.

What if the Old Gods were just demons tht used the physical form of the Dragons as the object to worship so they wouldn't be seen as "bad"?
Blood magic was taught by "Dumat" so.... Demon? Corypheus prayed to the name "Dumat," but who's to say that's the Dragon??

Makes sense, since some Old Gods were male and some were female. But all high dragons are female.

I always thought that line was referring to Corypheus. I don't think Corypheus is the 'Elder One' but his release from the Vinmark prison could be a catalyst for the Elder One coming back.

The thing with prophecies is that you can link them to things after they happened. That line was said while there was Fade rift happening all around the statue. There was not a single Fade rift in Legacy...
