I wondered after seeing the video with Leliana being shackled up and tortured by the Venatori interrogator, could Cullen be in Leliana's place. What I mean is, could you choose advisers to be in those quests and as such be affected by the results?

Hm...

That might be nice - if we get the option not to rescue him (sorry, but I do not like him - I don't think he is qualified to lead our military and he (like Cassandra and Leliana) is to closely tied to the chantry to be objective when it comes to decisions that might hurt it)

greetings LAX

Probably not.

It would be kind of lame if your choice in adviser didn't matter and produced the same outcome. Also Leliana gets captured because she was trying to infiltrate Redcliffe as a spy. Considering Cullen is the military adviser, rather than your espionage chief, he'll likely suggest a military solution. Choosing him probably results in Cullen leading your troops to attack Redcliffe. If so, he should be much less likely than Leliana to get captured.

Instead we have to rescue generic soldier #82124, resulting in the exact same situation.

"We didn't say anything about soldiers not beign able to get captured, now did we!"

The solution is simple. When you come across a situation, you pick the advisor least likely to succeed. I plan to do this with Cullen as it is my prime objective to see him dead before the end.

If you send in Josephine she'll put her diplomatic skills to good use and fool everyone with the ol' pizza trick, only it's Ferelden Turnip Porridge.

Like others have said, the situations may differ, but it also might depend on the mission. Who is to say that Cullen or Josephine may not get captured on another mission? Or get into trouble?

It would really be interesting to see how a mission turns out if you can use different advisers. I see myself leaning more towards using Cullen for the military approach on my first go.

Same here, but I guess it depends on the mission.

I'd rather it be Leliana, maybe even Josie, a man can do the thigh twist neck kill move, but would prefer watching a woman doing that maneuver than a man.  Sorry, I am biased on it.  *shrugs*

my understanding was that yes we could choose which advisor we sent on that mission, and, they said the result would be an increased hatred of mages....I just assumed that who we sent was our choice.

...Then considering I plan to romance Cullen with my mage...I might wanna send Leliana or Josephine...

Exactly. That's what I took away from that - if I play as a mage, and romance Cullen, don't send him on a "hate mages more" mission....

Though I do believe the situation may play out differently. From what I heard, Leliana may have lost someone to mages...and probably before the game started. With Cullen...I think if he is captured, it depends on the choices before if he will break and choose to hate mages more. Especially with his development he went through so far, and it seems like the devs made it where he is not sure where he stands. Particularly after the second game.

Well from what I heard, and recall, Laidlaw says that whoever you send on that mission gets tortured and has a strong resentment afterwards therefore changing your relationship with them. Of course, we have to wait and see.

I was rather hoping for an option where the operation was a success, but I suppose they might have to railroad some quests, which could be troubling if they do it too much.

Same here, or if you still go there, you would see that they are fine. But I guess it is a wait and see approach.

Did he punch your puppy or something? I'm not sure if it's a coincidence that popular males are being hated by other males. Never understand this phenomenom.

If Cullen does get captured...well he probably took soldiers with him who are either captured with him or dead. Leliana probably went by herself.

In the gamescome video they show when you can decide what adviser to sent. In the video Josephine will warn the king but Leliana will kill the guy Josephine would warn him about. Since they said your relationship with Leliana will take a hit because you sent her I think you can chose who to send. In this case I think Cullen will be the right one to send and the other 2 will be captured no matter what and I think it will be the same for most that one of them are the right choice but you don't know who.

There could always be other factors that would affect the outcome of which adviser you send, such things as previous missions to upgrades or what not.

it seems to me that there might be different kind of missions and from the description you'll have to judge what you want to do and who would be best suited for the mission. so it could be like you gotta send the right person or the job might not get done right or go wrong somehow. or it could be like well i want to peacefully take care of this or i want to secretly get rid of this or i want to just end the situation once and for all with force. thats what it seems like to me after seeing the demos and everything.

i worry about sending cullen to do jobs where he has to fight some really powerful mages due to his bad experiences or not the other hand he might be well suited for a job like that because he is a former templar.  when i have to pick who to send to this I'll prob be picking him though. I worry about sending Josephine anywhere really dangerous or anywhere that isn't inside walls and not out in some place like the place win the demo. and id want to send leliana on missions where someone is super dangerous but needs to be stopped quietly without causing a stir. but i'll prob want to be diplomatic as often as i can.

I wonder if the advisor system isn't a hybrid of what we have seen. Like, most advisor quest work like the Assassins Creed missions, where you send them off and they do their thing off screen. But everyonce and a while, a quest/advisor combo spawns an actual mission. Like, for instance, sending Leliana to take out that mage. Maybe it started as a War Table card thing, you could choose to send Josephine or Cullen, but you send Leliana, and later you get some message like 'your advisor has been captured' or 'the mission has gone really wrong', and you haveta go have a 'real' mission. Maybe if its Cullen you show up at the same place, he's raided it and taken out all resistence, and all you haveta do is close the rift. I don't know how practical that is for the game system, but it could be interesting?

an interesting thought, i wonder that too. but as far as i can tell, Cullen and Josephine are the advisors, Leliana is suppose to be the inquisitions pet assassin. i could be wrong.

Leliana is an advisor.

Makes perfect sense. Guys tend to hate when girls go crazy for other guys. It's a mix of jealousy and annoyance. Plus, some people just do it to be spiteful. "Oh, you like Cullen? Here, I'll offer him to this demon for no reason other than to p¡ss you off!"

Cullen and his fans don't bother me, though. I personally like him and think he is an interesting character. My first FemQuizzy will romance him.

Well I'm going to be pro military but I imagine sending a small force to kill the kings adviser will have some extreme diplomatic backlash, but when I will have the biggest force in Thedas... Who cares?
