The female kossith mage footage, the female human warrior footage... I can't even begin to express how much it means to me that they're being featured and how much of a "big thing" is not being made of it (from what I've seen, anyway), and I just wanted to mention that. This really is a brave new world, isn't it?
I was alive during the days when female main characters in the more serious games were just not even a blip on the radar for the most part. Perils of Rosella was a bright and shining solitary beacon in my childhood before I discovered Bioware. So what I'm seeing actually gets me a little bit choked up. It's beautiful to witness and I'm really in awe.
Seriously, that female human warrior looks SO COOL that my normal resistance to playing humans is almost totally conquered. (She reminds me of our Cat Lance a little and I love the hell out of her voice!) If there's even the ghost of a chance Solas is an LI, I'll have serious problems resisting playing one, as I love the human/elf tensions in the DA universe.
And somehow, overall, I feel like the Inquisitor is the first DA hero I can really relate to. Maybe it's because this character is all about uniting others for a common cause and fighting for some form of peace and justice (whether they'll be successful or not), whereas the Warden and Hawke were people thrown into dismal circumstances who mostly just tried to break even/carve out a niche. I feel like the Inquisitor is a bit more of a go-getter and their story can be more complex and nuanced because of that sympathetic quality. I could be wrong, I know, but it's just the sense I'm getting; that maybe there's a little more flexibility for the player this time.
Bioware's always cared about their female and female-playing fans and I love that, but this is just a whole new level of awesome. I really can't wait for this game.
Thank you so much for remembering us. It's a commitment I always have appreciated, and always will.
