UPDATE: News of the Warden has been elaborated on.

UPDATE: (As of Oct 14th, 2014)

The latest trailer features a different Warden facing the same giant spider thing in the Fade, that we saw the first time Hawke was introduced in the last trailer.

i dunno, just seems abit umm... convenient that hawke appears after going missing next to a warden, when the warden also mysteriously went missing, so im gunna say that i think it is the warden and that its a fake out

Maybe it's the "Orlesian" Warden, considering the canon warden is dead. And it will be akin to how it was in ME3, where if a character is gone, they'll be replaced with someone else to help move along the plot along where it's needed.

there is no specific canon warden, there is biowares internal canon but since its a game about choice it would seem illogical for that to be the case, i dont think it would be the orlesian warden since that either way its still the warden commander of ferelden that went missing

When I say canon, I mean the one that happens if you don't upload a save file. In that sense, there's already a world state to work with, that being the one where the Hero of Ferelden sacrificed herself.

In all likelihood, this is the Orlesian Warden-Commander. Remember, in Bioware's default world state the Warden was a female Dalish elf that took the Ultimate sacrifice.

Pretty sure Hawke is also male in the default canon.

I've read both Asunder and the Masked Empire and I don't remember them saying that, to be honest. I figured the canon wouldn't be officialized until the following game was actually released, and thus it was fairly ambiguous.

Not to mention that Mike shot down it being the Hero of Ferelden rather quickly. Then, I think it was Weekes, got all cagey when asked if it was the Orlesian Warden. 'In absence of denial' and all that.

I've said this before but if that was just some new Warden character, somebody was trolling us.

There's no direct mention of what gender Hawke is in the default

That Grey Warden running with Hawke in latest video? I always thought it was Grey Warden Carver... Just looking a bit different, well there's some different versions of Carver as well... Seeing as it's also a mage Hawke.

I really hope it's a new character, I'm getting a little bit sick of all the cameos.

Damn Bioware to hell for not reading my mind and putting my own special Hawke in their trailer.

There is a default Warden in the world state for those who did not play the first two games. Default Canon Warden is a female Dalish elf who took the ultimate sacrifice It's like Alister being king by default. Likewise default Hawke is a male mage.

If you're importing a Warden (or Hawke or world state in general), as David Gaider put it, "a default should not concern you in the slightest ..."

I'm not sure why everyone brings up that "the canon warden is dead" as a reasoning for why it wouldn't be your Warden.

If they're just going to use canon storylines then what is the point of the Keep? My Warden commander is not dead, unless something happened in the past ten years in game that we haven't been told about yet. If anything my guess is that is supposed to be Warden Alistair.

In their canon the Origins Warden died.

A play on words perhaps. He said "that is not "The" Warden".

I say, it's the Orlesian Warden-Commander.

EDIT: has anyone outright asked if it's the Warden-Commander?

I think someone asked Patrick Weekes. He was all cagey about it and invoked 'but that would be spoilery'.
