He looked more recognizably 'Alistair' than this guy.
True, this guy looks like a Blond Carver to me.
I'm now thinking the Warden in the trailer is Alistair and if he is either king or dead in the playthrough he is replaced by Stroud ala DA2. This would explain this:
I'm thinking that may be Carver in the trailer way back, considering Stroud is apparently in the game according to this. But the fact that they're blonde throws me off, given that they were showing the more iconic Hawke in the trailer. And we know that since DA2, they were investigating something big, so regardless this should be interesting.

Maybe if Hawke is black-haired, Carver dies his to look less like his sibling?

Maybe, but I think it's more like, if Hawke was blonde a lot of people might not catch that it's Hawke, given how brief the cameo is.
Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that the entire "That's not your warden" sounded like a fae like answer and I tend to agree. It can read along the lines of "Yeah, not YOUR warden in this trailer." It could mean that because their default warden did the Ultimate Sacrifice it's a stand-in warden (or the warden from DA:A) as it has been discussed before in this thread.
It can also read, "That's not your warden in THIS trailer" meaning that they're keeping the warden's appearance a secret until the game is released.
I'm holding out hope that my warden still makes an appearance. She's the Queen of freakin' Ferelden and she didn't go through the mirror with Morrigan. I'd like to know just exactly HOW a nation (not to mention Alistair, who loved my warden-and vice versa) lost their QUEEN. I don't want it to be in some footnote or a scrap of paper with some lore on it.
But, looking at the DA:I IMDB cast list, there is nobody listed was the voice of Male/Female warden (Male/Fem Hawke's voice actors ARE listed on there, though, so it's obvious that Hawke will be talking in DA:I). It COULD still mean that (as someone mentioned earlier) that everybody is talking around the warden and the warden not talking will be like Maggie Simpson.
I just...man...I would like to see my warden again.

They've already confirmed multiple times we won't see the Warden in DA:I
We'll hear about them, though.
(Also, IMDB is not a reliable source, as anyone can edit it.)
I prefer just hearing about them, as well. It has the potential to achieve the balance between keeping the Warden relevant to the story and allowing some space for headcanon.
As I said before, Naughty Dog lied to the world, when asked if the player ever plays as Ellie in The Last of Us. They wanted to surprise people. Is this the case now? I doubt it, but still, food for thought.
The Warden may not be appearing in the base game, but they better show up, at some point, in the future. Either in a DLC, Expansion or a future game. As either a companion, NPC or w/e else. You can even avoid giving them a voice if you wish, like maybe during their disappearance they got their throat slashed and they can't talk anymore. It can work, with effort. I refuse to accept The Warden being MIA for the entire rest of this Series.

But they won't be MIA, since they'll have a role to play in the story and you'll hear about them.
That Bioware is lying about the Warden is a possibility, of course. But imo it would make little sense when they're being so open about Hawke's involvement, and about the manner in which the Warden is involved, as well. I don't think they'd be sharing all this stuff if they wanted to keep it a surprise.
As long as the warden is involved, I'm happy. I'm glad Hawke is taking part but the warden is more important to me.
If they Had to die in this though, it better be as good asSpoiler
See, I'd be fine with that, just as long as they had a previous scene with their love interest/children, saying their goodbyes. Because it makes sense that the Warden would eventually follow the Calling anyway, and this is definitely one way to go out with a bang.
Wouldn't it be cool if we DID see our warden? Only they are hooded so you cannot see their face.
Like maybe you see them running off or something.
yeah, if warden appears and doesn't have time with leliana and the child, various degrees of rage are expected.See, I'd be fine with that, just as long as they had a previous scene with their love interest/children, saying their goodbyes. i wonder if bioware just asked just for fun: " if we would create the next DA game with a previous protaganist. Who would you want?"
I can be bold enough to say that the majority would say the warden.
Though i have no idea how people will react for the inquisitor. It might change
Is it bad that I wouldn't put it past them to kill off the Inquisitor, so we don't see this problem again in the future? xD

I don't think the Inquisitor will become a problem. No one cares about Hawke as much because DA2 was an inferior game. The Warden cannot be done -as easily- as either Hawke or the Inquisitor. The Warden CAN be done, and done correctly. Bioware just has to make that effort, and they better, at some point. I want The Warden On Screen, one last time. Let them go out with a bang, like that Spoiler tag suggests. I can't imagine too many people objecting to The Warden going out like a total beast, and a touching moment with their LI of choice (if any).

The issue with that scene, though,
That said, I'm glad the Warden won't be appearing as I have no faith in it being even a remotely accurate depiction of all my Wardens. The problem is more that there are too many other cameos, not that the Warden doesn't get one.
The odds of:
Drunkard Alistair ending up in the Hanged Man for three years,
Warden Alistair just happening to be in Kirkwall when the Qunari attack,
Leliana being the Divine's agent,
Zevran coming to Kirkwall when he's running from the Crows,
The Werewolves and the Elves from Zathrian's clan just happening to be in the Wounded Coast,
Nathaniel (as opposed to a Marcher Warden) being sent to investigate the Deep Roads near Kirkwall,
Harrowmont's heir stumbling upon Hawke in Kirkwall right as assassins catch up to him,
Cullen getting moved to Kirkwall,
Hawke being Amell's cousin,
Possessed Sophia Dryden being near Kirkwall,
And all the other cameos we see is ridiculous.
In Mass Effect we stayed as the same character moving in similar circles. It makes sense that he runs into a lot of the same people repeatedly because not much time or space changes. There are a few oddballs (like Conrad Verner on Illium), but most of them (Ashley/Kaidan joining up again, Garrus making enough of a name for himself to catch the Illusive Man's attention, Tali being the Quarian chosen for operations in the wider galaxy) make sense. In many cases Shepard, the Illusive Man, or someone else brought them back into contact based on their previous experiences together.
In Dragon Age, we change setting and protagonist with every game. Time also jumps ahead farther, as the three games span 10 years as opposed to the 3 for Mass Effect.

Well there are a number of endings for the warden which make sense why they wouldn't be around unless they had some reason. Side note: I utterly hate the dissaperence thing of the warden as it makes little sense for some characters, such as mine; I know also that a city elf can become the bann of denerim IIRC.
My warden is queen of Ferlden with Alistair, she would be busy in Ferlden dealing with well the politics of her country which she loves and desires to protect from dangers, weather darkspawn or other monsters. She would not just up and vanish like that. If there is chaos in Ferlden as well as Orlais, then she would seek to protect first her people then go to Orlais.

Honestly, I would love to see that, The Warden come in all hooded and geared out, interact with the LI, doesnt even have to say anything, some actions are louder then words, a gentle hand to rub the face of the LI, maybe a nod and proud smile to the child while running with Sword/Daggers/Staff in hand towards the oncoming horde of ... (insert your own OMG moment), then valiantly falling as the rest of our peps come in. Warden out like a Boss, and bought time for the reinforcements .... quick some one email Laidlaw we got this figured out lol ![]()
I'd like to suggest the2arden's last words be "warden out" as they drop their weapon from the last blow.Honestly, I would love to see that, The Warden come in all hooded and geared out, interact with the LI, doesnt even have to say anything, some actions are louder then words, a gentle hand to rub the face of the LI, maybe a nod and proud smile to the child while running with Sword/Daggers/Staff in hand towards the oncoming horde of ...
