Oh they could do that  I'll remove the post just in case then! But they can't stop the leak since its already to spread out...

After a 2nd look I agree that the warden picture could be a fake or a placeholder... the other seems legit.

Placeholder, perhaps. Either way, considering I romanced Morrigan in DA:O, it would be nice to know that was left with some relevance. And even so, were my warden to have romanced Leliana as well (I did, but chose Morrigan in the end  ), it would be great to have that be relevant to the game as well and see either of them interact with him in a positive way, even if it were simply them saying goodbye.

I'd also love to see a bonding moment with my warden's son as well.

I can understand that ;)  Seems that if the pictures are legit the customization will allow it.

Not sure about the positive outcome/dialog/scene you are hoping for will be as you would want it tho :P  playing with a lady's feelings is probably unwise even in a game...

Fingers bonding with the OGB! That would really be topping the cake :D

Oh, I don't necessarily mean for them to mention it, I just mean that considering both potential romances are in there, it would definitely be a missed opportunity.

And should the Warden go off to have his one final battle, i.e his potential Calling so to speak, it would be wonderful to have that moment, definitely.

I'm not sure why everyone brings up that "the canon warden is dead" as a reasoning for why it wouldn't be your Warden.

If they're just going to use canon storylines then what is the point of the Keep? My Warden commander is not dead, unless something happened in the past ten years in game that we haven't been told about yet. If anything my guess is that is supposed to be Warden Alistair.

Because they need a point of reference from which to orchestrate the trailer. So they use their own default state of the world to do it from. My Hero of Ferelden is dead, so it would work for my world state, thus why they need a "default" state to work from; in a game with so many choices, including appearance, they have to have something to work with, so they use their own.

ETA: BTW, it would seem that, based on this, we now know that the default Hawke is likely female, since that's what's included in the cameo.

They are quick to say it isn't the Warden but are silent when asked if it is Alistair.

I'm worred.

It looks nothing like him :(

From what I've gathered the common consensus is that it is a "replacement Warden" since the Bioware default is to do the ultimate sacrifice, so if he/she were alive they will be seen there. Kinda like Mass Effect 3 if Mordin dies in 2 he is replaced with (I forgot the name but you get the point).

I hope this is the case because DA:O was so fun to play and I'd like to see my character again and the status of his relationships. Though we will just wait and see.

IS it just me or was role playing as Hawke not as fun the Warden, (DA:2 was still a good game)

No, the default Hawke is a male mage. The default Warden is a female Dalish elf who died. What they show in the trailer has nothing to do with their default world state.

However, default =/= canon.

Nah for me it was more fun with Hawke the lack of voice and face expressions for the warden kinda got boring after a while but at least the warden had more dialogue options

Got a link to that Hawke claim, or are you basing it solely on the trailer? The cameo clearly shows Lady Hawke, who is a mage, so it appears that you're half right. Default is used because even though it may be BioWare's canon, everyone's canon may be different. My canon Warden is dead, did the US ending. My canon Hawke is male, but a rogue. See the problem there? This is why they do this for trailers, so that they can establish some kind of continuity to work with.

There has been no mention on what gender the default Hawke is

While DA2 was fun, I always felt it was too railroaded with both my character and their actions, and thus until further notice, it will always be DA:O for me.

Here's hoping November counts as further notice, right?

Hahaha, you got it. :P

Not to mention, everything else that I want has been delayed until early 2015. -_-

All this talk about who the warden is but has anyone thought about the time we will spend with both hawke and that warden? Maybe they will both die in the fight with blinky if that cut is connected with the Blinky cut. I don't think we will get much time to spend with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Warden goes out in a blaze of glory, but I think they still have ideas for Hawke, given the DLC that they had in mind for him/her that didn't ever happen, and apparently somewhat inspired Inquisition.

I wouldn't mind both the Warden and Hawke dying to help the Inquisitor save the world. The player gets control over the party of the legendary three as they fight an army of Lovecraftian monsters on the way up 'Mount Doom'. So that the Inquisitor can close the Breach the Warden and Hawke stays behind buying the Inquisitor the time needed to end the demonic invasion.

Someone once mentioned the idea of eventually having a DA game where you could have all your previous protagonists in your party, and play a new hero, and as far fetched as that might be, I kinda like the idea of them living too, so that all the previous heroes could have that played out, even if they weren't in your party at all, but just there to fight the big bad beside you.

One thing I think would be cool is if the game could look at your past decisions and try to figure out how your heroes would have reacted to, say, Flemeth trying to take the world for herself of the Qunari about to start an invasion, and then some or all might betray you during the Final Bossfight. Having to fight previous characters be an impressive challenge, especially if every single one of your past PCs was a villain and you're playing hero. (Or vica versa.) The problem is figuring out what personality the player pictures that past PC as having (assuming the player pictured the PC as more than 2-dimensional, which I don't always), and the amount of fanrage if the computer's best guess is wrong. But I suppose mind-controlling them and sending them all at the current PC is doable.

@Riverdaleswhiteflash:  The BSN would explode if people had to kill their old characters.  You're either a genius or a madman.

That would be cool if those choices reflected their actions. I do hope that's how it will play out already, with Hawke. I imagine it will be easier with him/her, as there was a way to gauge how they were as a character via the kinds of responses they gave.

Also, speaking of villains, I'm still waiting for Morrigan to potentially betray you and when you prepare to fight her, the Warden shows up to defend her if you romanced her. :o

They wouldn't necessarily have to. Nonlethal defeats have happened before in this series.

They would explode in anger over the killing of the Warden.

They would explode with happiness over the killing of Hawke.

Another group would explode with anger over the killing of Hawke, but nobody cares about them.

That is indeed genius.

My warden romanced morrigan.

Imagine morrigan doing things against the inquisition, and the warden supporting her... Well, I'd be forced to choose between killing the warden or the inquisition suffering... Sorry warden, ya's gon' die :P

Same for hawke. He supported the mages. But mages are being even bigger douches this time around, as it seems... Let's just hope we don't cross paths...

Also, andthis is purely my own speculation:

I think we'll see the hawke again in the exalted march expansion. And I think that expansion will have something to do with the grey wardens. Theys aid they were up to something in DAII, and hawke'll probably be involved someway, as bethany became a grey warden in my playthrough... Also, int he trailer we saw -A...- gray warden accompanying the hawke.

It's possible we'll the THE warden there too, seeing (s)he's a greyw arden, but far more likely we'll see him/her having to do something with the archtitect. However, that can also be linked to the darkspawn, so might again be linked to hawke.

I just hope that at some point I'll be able to form a team consisting of morrigan, warden and hawke. That's all I really want :P

This topic is not something that Bioware can get away from they have to address the warden question they cannot let that character stay disappeared forever because it would have the same affect as if they killed the warden off. it just send the message that the warden fans can be sacrificed while the hawke fans has more worth
