DA 2:
I cut you, so fall over.
I burn you, so fall over.
I smash you, so fall over.
I shoot you, so fall over.
etc....
you get the point lol
I did like the slow motion attacks muchly and how the two-handed weapons have "weight!!"

I really miss the killing blows. I loved the moments in DAO where you came really close to dying until Zevran ripped the head off the biggest enemy.
I agree. Some of my most memorable fights ended in a decapitation. It was always great to get one on a boss, like Branka or Jarvia... I'm sure there were others, but those two come to mind because they were so dramatic.
edit: Oh, I think I may have seen some of the DA2 explosions in the most recent gameplay video... but it was fuzzy and I only saw it once, so don't quote me on that.

This game's animations are pretty similar to DA2... it wouldn't surprise me if they kept the explosions. Also, there is a rather long decapitations thread somewhere in the Scuttlebutt section (I think). It's locked, but a dev may or may not have already commented on this. I didn't really follow it...

In the E3 demo, we see some elemental deaths for lightning and ice (while fighting the baby dragon things). Killing a target with ice makes them freeze solid and then shatter, and lightning sort of explodes them into crackling bits and pieces.

I generally found those animations frustrating; I don't like looking at that stuff, and I want to move on. I hope you can turn it off (like the 'persistent gore' option).

I hope the slo-mo John Woo'amotronic sequences are able to be toggled off. I love me some embellishment, I can foresee this becoming really, freaking, tiresome (see: XCOM kill-cam and FO3/NV Cinematic Mode) in multiple play throughs.

I think there will still be decapitations and such. Don't really care for slow-mo rather not have it.

Exploding corpses that disappear is pretting F'ing lame if you ask me....cheap.
I always saw it as a throwback to BG1. I gibbed like every third corpse with my Paladin.

It makes me feel powerful when they explode for dumb reasons lol

I think if they were to do physical death blows they'd somehow implement it with the auto attack or something triggering the button you mash at that certain moment whether a deathblow happens or not. TBH i don't really mind since as satisfying as decaps and gut stabs are, the game is beautiful enough for me to appreciate the battle and want to move on to explore. Plus I actually very love the elemental deaths, it makes SO much more sense and reminds me of how Mass Effect handled the elemental deathblows, which I was always a fan of.

Not sure how elemental deaths make more sense than cutting somebody's head off... they seem to follow the same principle. ![]()
I like the idea of using a button prompt to execute deathblows... I'd do them all the time if that were the case. I always hated hoping for one but not getting it at the right time. The same was true in Skyrim... a nice perk, but I often wished I could choose which enemies to execute. This would also allow people to avoid them entirely if they don't like too much gore.
Since the topic was brought up, I never liked slow-motion and I'd rather that not return.

I hope DA2's exploding bodies are gone. That was silly.
I miss DAO's executions, I'd like those back, but with invincibility during the animations so you don't lose because of them.

I just hope you can adjust the frequency of any slow motion killing blow. I hated how often they popped up in Fallout NV, at least they let you toggle it off. But a slider to adjust how often would be preferred, not just an 'on/off' toggle

I always loved the ridiculousness of the blood, kinda because it reminds me of this roosterteeth short: https://www.youtube....YtwandSU8#t=193
But at least the characters aren't drenched in blood when they go into dialogue the second after a fight.
I do like the elemental deaths however. Incinerating a guy and having only bones and ash left. That is awesome!

I too hope for something like the critical kill finishing moves from DA:O
As a dual wielding rogue it was oh so satisfying to stab a baddie in the chest and then slice his head off.
