Players check in. They don't check out.

I swear to Andraste if this is multiplayer and I'm forced to play it like in ME3 then it's automatic -2 on gamescore from me.
I'm pretty sure they fixed it a million years ago where you can quite comfortably get your EMS maxed out without ever touching MP in ME3.
Besides an extremely unlikely scenario where the game would actually force you to play MP in order to progress through a certain quest, I see absolutely no reason why anyone would be actively opposed to a multiplayer game mode. It doesn't divert resources "away" from SP, it gets a separate budget if it's getting made. Just don't play it, I probably won't either. Why is it inherently bad to cater to people who enjoy multiplayer gameplay in addition to the people who will buy exclusively for single player content?
Have they announced what the "bonus digital content" is yet for pre-orders?
That'll prolly be an announcement, but not the big one, unless its related.

I'm heavily considering it, the way I was treated earlier. I'm not sure why you brought that up here though.
Help Shale turn back into Shayle, she joins your party, now you have two dwarves instead of one.
Writes itself
I was thinking along the lines of that to return Shale to Shayle you have to replace her soul in the golem for another. Around the same time you find sigrun who is beginning to succumb to the taint and you come to decision to trade Sigrun's soul for Shayle's to save both.

That seems like too much of a stretch. But it'd be interesting.

Perhaps she holds some kind of psychotic grudge against you? It was certainly an odd and hostile non sequitur.
So, you're basically arguing that it's okay because HELL, IT'S PROFITABLE.
They are a business.
Not a charity.
Players also might actually like to play MP. In terms of the overall fanbase of DA players, people who are aggressively against MP to the point where they don't want it in the game at all might be a minority.
First place my mind went when I heard it was announcing the release date for the Keep.
That's what I'm hoping for.
I'm trying to remember all of the choices I made for each of my Wardens and Hawkes, and which Wardens I linked to which Hawke's.

I really don't believe Cameron Lee's statement is in any way related to statement made by Destructoid.
EA Access will give you access to a part of the game. Your save file carries over but in general there is no save file being created with a multiplayer game, at least not locally. If we combine the statement from Destructoid with that of Cameron Lee it would also imply Early Access is mainly for MP and I find that a tad hard to believe. The DA series has been a single player experience for two games now and I think most players who would want Early Acess for DAI would want this for the single player portion. This is why I really believe the two statements just can't be related. I still believe there will announce MP but I just don't see the connection between the two statements because I just find it hard to believe they are actually connected.
The save file comment was made by the IGN journalist, though. Not by Cameron.
And the save file that carries over could easily just be the content and equipment that players have unlocked during the multiplayer mode.
What other part of the game could there be that they haven't yet talked about? Multiplayer was the very first thing I thought of when I saw that interview.

Yes, they're already providing a business and I am giving them my money for the single player. Not for the multiplayer.

You don't get to decide the content of the game, though.
They offer you a product to buy. If you like it, buy it. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
If multiplayer is something that bothers you so much that you can't bear to even see it in the game, then don't buy the game.
You'd be missing out on what looks like an amazing singleplayer game with 150+ hours of content, but that's your loss.

The announcement might be an open beta for the Keep, but in that case I certainly hope they've stress-tested the system.
Because that's going to open some gargantuan floodgates.
The open beta is for stress testing.
Of course when it does crash I will laugh at all the tears, especially when all it really takes is one person taking screen shots of the choices in the keep and releasing it to the public, I won't even bother downloading the keep til a day or so before the game comes out to set up a few play throughs.

No, it's their loss. Their loss of my money. Businesses are meant to please the consumer if they want to keep making money, not the other way around. And I sincerely doubt the people who don't want multiplayer are in the minority. The same thing was said about people still disliking the ME 3 endings after the EC and that was also proven to be false, contrary to BioWare's "confidential insider sources."
The bonus digital content will probably be the usual knick-knacks
Looks like the soundtrack has already been named so that leaves a makings of video, some concept art, wallpapers, things of that nature.
Probably some cool named weapon and armour set to get us going through the early game.
The big announcement may be the first DLC. We know there won't be day one DLC, but we also know DLC will be coming at some point, possibly they've started doing some basic ground work and want to announce what's coming in the months ahead?

Instead of tossing in some half-baked multiplayer to please the EA overlords, how about including a toolset to extend the life of the game and encourage community involvement. Larian Studios managed to do it with a budget of around $4 million. Surely Bioware's got the cash.

But did Larian do it with Frostbite 3? I'm sure someone better suited than I can explain how/if the engine will matter in this, counting licensing and such.

This is exactly what I keep trying to tell people. Even if multiplayer didn't affect the SP in any way, it would still be a tacked on piece of flotsam and would be utterly pointless. 150 hours for single player and you want to even bother with MP WHY? You could put that extra team and budget to better use!
Apparently, according to some people on the internet it is also a shining beacon of hope for straight male white gamers who are, oh so opressed in the gaming industry.
I'm not sure how being a fan of single player gaming is the sole bastion of straight white male gamers. I'm assuming that your target was Witcher fans, which isn't a necessary stereotype and will only serve to escalate things when they don't need to be.
Thanks.

Well, I agree that it would be more difficult to implement with Frostbite three. At least, that's what Mike Laidlaw and the other devs have intimated. I'm not saying a toolset is mandatory or anything - I plan on buying the game either way.
It's just that, if you are going to allocate man power and financial resources to a massive side-project, which a multiplayer component certainly qualifies as, you might as well go for the toolset instead.
Not that interested in MP but as long as they don't tie it to success in SP (and I don't think they'll make that mistake again) I don't mind if it's there.
