How many gamers are there really who are going to be up in arms over multiplayer being an optional non-impacting addition to a single player game? I honestly don't believe there are many gamers who hate multiplayer that much that even knowing it exists makes them pass on a game. That's not equivacable to people who don't want multiplayer in Dragon Age. Yes they bought the game but that doesn't mean they like the fact that there's multiplayer in it.
"Big announcement" scheduled for later in August

Let's backtrack for a moment:
What is the actual claim you are making here? The line of logic you have presented in this argument is that the amount of people who won't buy Dragon Age because of the inclusion of MP is "not the minority." If you'd like to re-frame your claim to be more clear I'd appreciate it, along with any supporting evidence whatsoever for that claim.
I never had any original claim. My only "claim" is that she needs to have a citation when she makes claims like "people who don't want multiplayer are in the minority". And that's different from "People who don't want multiplayer and are willing to boycott Dragon Age are in the minority". Which is definitely untrue. Those are two different statements, two different logics.

Well, since this thread is devoted to speculating about the "big announcement" in August, and multiplayer is very probably that big announcement, I don't see why it shouldn't be included in the discussion.
Anyways, I don't really understand the folks who plan to avoid the title altogether if it has a MP component. Like I said earlier, I would prefer a toolset, but it's not a deal breaker. It's nigh on impossible to find games these days that are 100% single-player.
My favorite game of all time is Half Life 2. I prize it for it's single-player campaign, and I can't imagine having boycotted it just because it had a deathmatch component bundled in.

If people don't like it, they really don't like it. For example, the topic of multiplayer was so loathed on the TES boards that it was banned for the longest time, because the fanbase hated the idea of it that much. Zenimax, naturally, goes and makes an MMO out of it.

What if.... it isn't multiplayer?
Could be a spinoff, expansion, extended universe (books, comics, animated movies), MMO (please, God, no!), and so many other possibilities. I'm neither for or against MP, but focusing on only one of those possibilities seems rather limiting. Don't you think?

And supporting evidence? Since when have we been bringing in supporting evidence? So far I have seen no supporting evidence on your side of the fence either.
I didn't make a claim. You did.

I don't like PvP multiplayer, but that doesn't mean that I'm against all types of MP. Even though MP has destroyed some very good franchises. Mostly because they went PvP with it.

If it is an MMO, I will burn my copy of World of Thedas, delete my Origins save file, and cancel my pre-order.

Actually, no. That was Zjarcal.
So there's no reason beyond your personal feeling that most DA fans don't want MP.
And I suggest that, in the future, if you don't want people asking you to support your claims, you shouldn't ask others to do the same via asking for citation.

Sure, but I think we have to carefully weigh up whether any of those things (particularly the tie-in media or extended universe stuff) is important enough to warrant what looks like a press gameplay session and embargoed previews - and whether any of them is as likely as a multiplayer mode.
Would a book or tie-in film really make onto a gaming website as a big announcement?
IGN and Destructoid both seem to have more articles coming on what they saw at Gamescom, and given how many other press outlets had gameplay previews from private demos, there are probably more.
Cameron Lee also said the gameplay "part" included in the EA Access trial is something they'll talk about later.
There have been rumours of multiplayer on and off for the last three years, since November 2011 in fact, and just recently some achievements surfaced that also implied the existence of MP.

I don't think integrating it will be difficult. The Inquisitor is the head of a massive organization who often sends out agents into the field. You'll probably play one of those agents. You can get simple objective like 'Clear this castle of Avvar barbarians.' 'Defend this mine from undead.' 'Explore this ancient elven ruin.'
Sounds reasonable.
In that case, the interesting question will be: Will you fight in MP for the Inquisition without aiding your Inquisitor in SP in any way? Or if you do, how does that impact look like? And if you don't, will there be any "artificial" incentive to MP?
Ok, those are three questions, but you know what I mean...

PVP/MP in general. Mainly MMOs, but not necessarily. Ultima with Online. Warcraft with WOW. KOTOR with TOR. Mechwarrior with MWO. Hell, D&D games thanks to DDO and Neverwinter.

Although they have not been confirmed, and by many refuted, because of analysis. Reused icons and such.

I asked for a citation because she stated, seemingly without a shadow of a doubt that we were in the minority. So, no I don't think I'll be following your suggestion.

I don't like MMOs for other reasons. PvP is the standard for Deathmatch play. I played those for years back when DOOM and Quake first hit the scene, and later with COD. I find them to be quite boring.

Putting "I don't believe" or "I think" before a statement doesn't mean there's less of a burden on you. You either have good reasons for believing what you do, or you don't.

Wrong. The burden of proof is entirely on the person making the claim.

A company which is expert at characters and stories will chose a genre which lacks completely characters and story and where most games in the last years were just huge failures and money destruction projects?
I can't imagine them being that stupid.

Yeah. Bioware would never do that.
Except for that one time when they made an entire studio devoted to the MMO genre and spent about seven years and $200,000,000 on converting a beloved single-player RPG into a watered down, online shadow of its former self.

You don't really need to do a lot of research to realize that the amount of people who will go "I WILL BOYCOTT THIS GAME IF IT HAS MP" are a minority, which are the kind of people I was referring to when I said "people who are diametrically opposed to its inclusion". Some things are obvious enough to not really require "citations". Much in the same way that the amount of people who "want" MP as in, "OMG I REALLY REALLY WANT THERE TO BE MP IN THIS GAME" probably aren't a majority either. No need to do detective work to figure that out either.
But if it makes you feel better, the "people who are diametrically opposed to its inclusion" are extremely likely in the minority... no longer stated as a fact so no "citation" needed.
