What assures that it won't, if it does exist?

You simultaneously think there will and won't be an MP? You have Schrodinger's opinion of it?
The MP is both dead and alive!!!!! Don't open the box!!!!!!!!! ![]()

The question was based on a hypothetical. It's more helpful to answer it so we can get some more opinions, rather than trying to question the assumption.
Nobody knows if it'll affect SP, but that wasn't what was being asked.

Is there anyone here who would actually not buy and play DAI simply because the MP existed and was on the disk/download?
I'll still buy it, I have the Inquisitors edition pre ordered.

I like TOR.
Fair enough. I enjoyed playing through the various class storylines, but found the endgame tedious and underwhelming.

Indeed.
The ME3 ending (and no I don't want to discuss it any more) was either a dumb decision or a bug or a mistake.
Either way, BioWare would need to be living under the Bone Pit for two years to not know the different views on that one.
If MP is announced, I expect the first 3 questions will be:
So for this question in a hypothetical thread anyway, may I ask:
If there is a multiplayer.and it definitely doesn't hold back single player.

Just asking...
no mp please unless it questing mp and not just kill bots over and over{ much as i loved the Mass effect3 mp it got boring after while} i would like them to do a questline mp where you can gather a group and do co-op questing rather then combat mp with bots or players like you can choose to do the game online with you friends and or people you ask to go kill a target and so on and keep going to finish the game regardless sp standing in chapters., and that it would be seperated from the sp game so that every players has there cannon playing and the mp playthrus all i ask is if they are adding mp please do as seige of a town style from darkspawn etc
makes me wonder if the delay was to add mp to the game and of course fix things that was needing fixing and such

After watching this on you tube like 4 times, the final statement by the producer is the most telling.
https://www.youtube....h?v=-IxQVc_AM10
The interviewer asks him about what EA early access is and the producer says that EA early access will grant early access to a "different part of the game that they will talk about at a later point". Sure sounds like MP to me. Tie stamp is like 12:55.
I was going to make a bet that involved MP, but then I saw you play on Master Race.
Dratz!
Cross platform play would be le awesomesauce though, if only that were a thing.
Are there actually people who think there won't be MP?
I know there are those who don't want it...
I've seen a few people who still think so, or at least claim to think so.
What if you could customize scaled agents and "exchange" them with other Inquisitors on your friend-list, perhaps hiring them for gold or gear if they're powerful?
Would folks consider that "impacting the single-player"?
I for one would not mind if there were multiplayer, i quite like the suggestion made earlier that it could unlock trophies etc for skyhold, or cosmetic things for armors, flags. The suggestion tho that i didnt really like was that if you started a new game you would get a boost in gold and/or perks, i think something like that would cause a similar drama akin to the ME3 7extra secs of footage.
As for the question that was posed, i seriously doubt if more than a handful of people would actually cancel their preorder/not buy the game if multiplayer was included.
I still think the big announcement is going to be something to do with an app that allows you to manage some of the war table missions while on the move. Gaming companies seem to be going big into this kinda cross platform promotion lately.

I guess it depends on whether agents are actually unique characters rather than being a number.
From the PAX demo last year it looked like they were just a resource that had to be collected through story outcomes, since some construction projects required 35 or 50 agents and that seems like way too many distinct characters.
I think trading MP characters and setups is a wonderful idea though, and it totally fits the social aspect of the game too.
(Imagine being able to trade equipment and items, even)

Have already pre-bought it and have expected mp from day one so wouldn't make me go get a refund reguardless
I certainly hope that there is MP and that it 'does' impact the SP part of the game. That was the one thing missing from ME3 (aside from the ending aspect of course, which largely got removed anyway) , everything we did in MP had no impact on SP. I want to be able to win gold, items, whatever, that I can use in the SP aspect of the game. For example, maybe the most powerful weapon in the game requires crafting to create, and one of the ingredients can only be found in the MP portion of the game. That would be really awesome. I love MP and I'll play it even if it is completely separate, but I want them to be seamlessly intertwined, I want my success at MP to have a positive effect in the SP portion of the game in some way, big or small (preferably big, but small at a minimum) .
I am hoping the announcement is something keep related or a large scale DLC set to release during the winter holidays. I'm not opposed to them announcing MP but since I am almost 100% certain I will never play it I couldn't care less if it existed beyond wondering how impacted (if at all) my SP experience will be. I would hate to miss out on big rewards or anything else in my SP game just because I have never had a positive MP experience and don't play MP anymore.
Of course every MP experience I've ever had has been largely impacted by my anxiety problems and the fact I am generally convinced I am constantly letting everyone down. It's nothing against MP and more against me playing games with other people and making a fool of myself before finishing the night by crying in a corner convinced that I'm a failure (
joking, but I do always feel shitty after playing MP).
So in conclusion, I am hoping the announcement is not MP for purely selfish reasons but if it is I don't mind either. I'm still going to play the game and enjoy my SP experience as much as I can.
I hope is there is multi-player it is completely separate from single-player. I don't want to feel like I have to do something I have no interest in to succeed at the part of the game I do want to play for any reason.
Now, I would be interested if they gave you the ability to set up a completely co-op game that you could play with another person, even if that meant you could only advance that save when the other person was also playing, but I doubt that would ever happen. But if it did, they would almost certainly sell two copies almost instantly in this house.
He says 'a part of the game' NOT 'a different part of the game.' That could easily be a certain time frame or certain portion like the DA2 demo. After watching this on you tube like 4 times, the final statement by the producer is the most telling.

Yeah, but I would have liked KOTOR 3 more.

I'd focus on his tone though. He seems to struggle to find the right word, and ends up with "part of the game that we'll talk about later".
("Part" can also mean a mode or gameplay feature, rather than being a "part" in the sense of section or limited duration.)
The implication I got from that is that they haven't talked about it yet.

And if it were not the immediate start of the game and only that, the comment about a save state would be nonsensical.
