And I wrote 'really, and 'really, really' with your past comments in mind Iakus.

Understood, but there is really really no way of verifying such a claim until post-release. ;)

The thing with MP is that it doesn't force you to play it. Unless they do it ME3 way, that is annoying.

Then the player should have a option to not install MP it when installing the SP game. Which I hope will be true if it is even that MP that is being announced.

That would debilitate the purposeful attempted allure of the multiplayer component as a potential vessel for microtransactions. To be blunt, we're not often given that option especially in this era because there's a hope on the publishing side that we are all, no matter our thoughts on the issue, one day bored enough to click on it, get hooked, and get tempted. They're maximizing potential growth in this fashion and limiting it otherwise.

You and I may know 100% we would never buy anything through that interface, but we're faceless consumers, and they don't know we know that unequivocally.

I hate to sound so utterly dark on the topic, but from what people in marketing majors -- including my roommates -- have told me, I'm pretty confident that's the logic. If it didn't work that way, assuming for a moment multiplayer gets confirmed, it'd probably be because the developers added multiplayer microtransactions to a one-stop shop for both single and multi content.

Of course, there's always the ghost of a chance microtransactions aren't integrated into the thing, but after all the money ME3's made through that system, I would be utterly shocked.

Which is why given your stated position, your wish to hold off a purchase decision until after release and after clear evidence is a reasonable one.

With the usual string of 'if's' or course...

I hope we get an answer either way in the next few weeks so that we can at least settle this subject (or at least know what the situation is)

I'm hoping they will finally detail the remaining specializations.  It feels like they have announced details about everything but these.

I would like to know about those, too. And they still haven't revealed the last two romances, given us a detailed look at the AI customisation or told me whether I can ride a pony or not.

I'm pretty sure that none of those things count as a big announcement, though.

You are forgetting that MP, despite being financially successful, left ME3 with a rather blackened eye thanks to the EMS thing.

They have already decided not to include DLC companions with DAI because of negative feedback brought about by Javik.  Is it no treasonable to assume tehy would modify MP policy for the same reason?  Either forgo it entirely this time or make it a truly separate install for the sake of rebuilding their relationship with their fans?

Probably not.

Though now that I think about it, both Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale are said to be doing voices for DAI.  I don't know how "big" an announement revealing who they are voicing would be, but it would certainly be interesting.

I'm not counting out the possibility it won't exist, or at the very least, there won't be a connection of that variety with the main game. In fact, I believe there won't be that style of connection, given what happened last time. I suppose it's possible they'll go the extra mile by making it an optional download as well. I just feel like that may be a touch too much for the demands of the "Qun" above them.

The blackened eye was only to a minority of people.  A number of people beefed about it but only a very few went ballistic over it.  Far more people like it, were surprised they liked it and it was a huge success.  Your last statement is just going WAY over board, ensure it has no bearing on the sp game and then have the people that don;t want to try it just ignore the buttons called 'multiplayer' on the menu.

Well, the claim is that the Qun only demands online content, which the Keep and online profiles meets.

Whether that means they are wearing the requisite number of flair is of course something else.

I don't know, you might be right. I may be jaded on the whole subject. It could also be the fact that I only got a couple of hours of sleep last night and I'm trying to keep my schedule from crumbling days before the start of the semester by staying awake via coffee today.

Imagine, though... is it possible I'm the more doubtful on BioWare intentions here, in a conversation between the two of us? Are we reversing roles...? :P

Or just not have MP installed at all and not have to worry about even clicking on it.  That would be much better for people that are not even gonna play or touch MP period. :D Like me.

One has to be realistic about how games are constructed.  If they are going to have mp it is probably far easier to include it on disc or download than other wise.  In any case there were a fair number of people who had no real interest in mp for me before hand, once they tried it they liked it.  I am one of those people.  It's a choice.

That'd be pretty nifty for Wii U owners, but their console's really starting to come into its own over the next year or so without much third-party support anyway, at least for what I purchased it to acquire. I don't think I'd get the game on there anyway; it'll be shinier elsewhere.

I know you're just joking, but I'm replying to help myself stay awake.

If it is an MP announcement that is another plus to me and my friends. We find (as we still play it monthly) ME3's mp is a blast , being a heck of a co-op version to which most games are going now would be great news. As my previous posts, I have been on this "wait for the reviews" mentality before purchasing, but this would definitely turn that to a possible pre-order. My friends (two exactly out of the three) said they had no real interest in DAI unless it has this feature.

Some will un-doubtfully respond with "It's an RPG why if MP would they get it? That makes no sense". It comes down to longevity, a few of them played me2 but as they discussed it with me the problem with a pure solo game is longevity and the "feel of cost vs time". This is a very old argument / discussion many still get into, but alas, it still is a main topic within my gaming group for "new purchases".

The other aspect of the store (real money) for MP is possible, but EA has a trend recently, not that I expect anyone here played it, but the recent Plant's vs Zombie's game is a real good indication on the mind set of the publisher. PvZ has a store, but as with ME3 it's built on a pack system where you can earn "Coins" in game, slowly sure, but still earn them, OR you can just out right buy some if you so desire.  And in that game currently there is so much to collect it will take months if not a year of playing to get them all, which to me and again my gaming group has great replay value.

We enjoy the actual game play and there is really some cool stuff to "work towards" which never becomes OP in game play but adds flavor. This is the same thing in ME3, the same exact system was part of that game and being the devs here stated sometime ago they loved how the MP in ME3 worked out, it's something worth looking at. This is a good sign for those that like this aspect and too me at least is the most likely scenario with this announcment.

No doubt by some of the postings here some of you could care less or hate the whole concept, but the fact remains the figures show in ME3 and now in PvZ that this concept works very well. The only thing that could mess this is up is two things, first PvZ went without a pre-lobby in MP beyond co-op, bad idea. Second is if the devs here are silly enough to over-look a real simple but amazingly fun co-op version of last stand mode.

Funny thing, all this new mp style of game play originated over the very popular Dawn Of War II last stand feature which is still kicking strong today. It showed a mass interest in this sort of play style and I am glad someone at Bioware said "hey this is pretty cool we should try it" and threw that sort of gameplay into ME3. It worked out really well and they could do the same for DAI, as no game yet in the fantasy genre has such a style. Personally we hope for a co-op stronghold sort of last stand mode, IE defend your stronghold and hold out as long as you can, adding ideas like placing defensible ballista's, AI and so forth on the walls, meh who knows, something like this could be a whole new DA part that I think would be dam fun.

That's my personal take on it all anyways...

People have different tastes. Why is that surprising? That is why there should be a variety of types of games instead of every game having to have multiplayer.

Every game doesn't have multi-player.
But video game developers would be stupid to not try to draw as many consumers as possible for their product.

I'm assuming that DAI will ship on one blu-ray disk for next gen.

360/P3 don't know, or PC, may need multiple disks.

But I can't remember any recent games that game the option to install different things or not?

Maybe that's more typical with PC's someone who knows will answer perhaps.

If MP is there it will utilise resources and assets from the SP game so what logical reason would there be for it to install separately?

What benefit for BioWare would there be to offer it as a separate install?

When it's one game (albeit with in this case and if proved, different modes).

If split installs are common on PC I'd be pleased to hear, as I don't know, thanks.

When is this ever offered, though? Even aside from the technical issues, what business would ever give you the option to not install a significant part of their product that also makes them money?

And why stop at MP? Why not ask for the option not to install classes that you think you'll never use, or romance content, or hack out evil dialogue from the game because you're sure you'll never pick them?

Games don't work like that. They're selling you a product, and you get the entire thing. Ignore it if you want, but it's still going to be there on the disc and in the menu for the millions of people who don't think the way you do.
