No freezing in multiplayer - no tactical camera (or if there is it would have time running).
That's why opening the full radial for additional spells skills would not work and could be why it no longer exists (8 abilities only aside of equipping).

Oh - and despite asking, not one single person could be persuaded to say they would certainly not buy the game if multiplayer were in it.
Though some would delay purchase until review evidence demonstrated that it had no impact on single player.

I also don't understand why it is logical to be angry at the possible inclusion of a feature someone plans not to use
provided it is not detrimental to the single player game.

It's that last part that's the catch.

And I respect Iakus' and others' pessimism given history. I get it it.

If such concerned individuals delay DAI purchase in the event of MP announcement, I hope that post-launch reviews and information will

satisfy them and merit their trust (this time).

You really shouldn't given the grossly nominal effect of MP (*gasp*) on SP in ME3. You'd think the game was crippled or changed without playing MP - and here we will get the any change is too much but no, all changes aren't equal and this "change" was utterly cosmetic and meaningless.

Main character living wasn't a nominal effect.

Depending on how ability mapping works, it could be simply tedious or force a major tactical rethink for players. We will see.

I'd guess number of people who want and would use a toolset is dwarfed by the number of people who want and would use multi-player.

Given the recent design decisions they've been announcing, I want a toolset more and more.

Honestly my own views about it differ but I've read posts from Iakus, deckerd and others which were calmly but passionately argued from their perspective. I can't dismiss their views out of hand or argue that their opinions have no value because I think the impact was less significant for me.

I hope we will know soon enough and then we can argue (also constructively I hope) about what we think about it being there / not being there.

He lived? He gasped but dying people gasp as well. Never assumed he lived. Assumed he suffered a bit more.

I'll tell you what I hate, hate, hate with a burning white hot passion inventory management and I think crafting is insanely dull boring and pointless for a hero to be doing (which is why there aren't long blacksmithing sequences in most heroic epics). If you could give me the assurance that I could avoid those terrible parts of the game and my only trade off is a vague post-game cut scene difference I'd make that trade in a heart beat. Please, make that deal with me.

I feel the same. I blink every time they talk about a feature now. Everything in the game so far feels like unspecialized "I'm trying to be a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none" package. Mediocre.

Toolset or not, I hope the game gets cracked so much that it'll be like a middle finger to EA once it's done.

I really hope there's no MP. theres me3, cod, WoW, etc. for that. I don't want time/resources on my favourite SP game being wasted on MP

There's a nice post by a game dev here on how, generally speaking, development of multiplayer doesn't take away resources from SP.

that article is so swamped in analogies that it just lost me. Logically though, multiplayer takes manpower and budget to impliment, which is time and money not used on SP

Can't find the edit button, but..
EDIT: part 2 is much more coherent.

Yes, but if it's a separate budget/team that wouldn't have been used on SP regardless it wouldn't make a difference to the SP aspect.

I *believe* that's what ME3 MP did, team wise.  But it's not something I followed closely.

It's not about resources, but story intent. In NWN, the new Tomb Raider, Saint's Row and even Battlefield 3 I could play the games and not even know there was a MP. In ME3 I was painfully aware of the MP most of the time w/ that Galaxy at War thing, especially at the end. I don't begrudge a game company putting MP in their game, but please keep it separate from the SP.

You could get all the readiness you needed from SP. That shouldn't be playing on your mind.

Plus, what if it is about intent why isn't the story intent to show the role of non-Shep actors doing things - all species working together to sustain the galaxy while Shep races to save it?

As I've said many times, it doesn't matter what evidence you supply to people they will totally ignore it if they have something like this in mind.  This is a beaut example.  Logically no it doesn't.

I think a large part of it is whether the multiplayer actually adds anything. Mass Effect 3's was a style of multiplayer that I had never seen before (third person shooter with an ability bar) and let us play as the different races for the first time, so I found it to be a unique experience.

But we already have the ability to play as the different races in Dragon Age, and multiplayer third-person class based combat has been done to death in MMO's. I can't see how Inquisition could provide anything new or different to what MMO's already provide, and even if they did it wouldn't be as good. So what's the point?

Campaign co-op is the only form of multiplayer I can see working conceptually, and nobody wants to stand around while the guy playing the Inquisitor talks to his or her companions for an hour, so I don't see that working either.

Not to mention any form of multiplayer would remove the pause option, which the entire combat system relies heavily upon.

Really?  Bizarre.  I almost totally ignored the galactic readiness and head no clue what it was for for pretty well the whole game.   I never once tried mp due to galatic readiness even after it was revealed that it might have an affect on one ending.  Almost everyone even the most ardent mp supporters agree with your last sentence they should be kept separate.  BioWare almost did it perfectly with ME, the blew it with the one ending thing but after that was patched you could play the sp game without ever clicking on mp.

Why?  Why could they not do essentially the same thing they did with me3?

Not true, at launch it was impossible to reach the highest level of readiness without playing multiplayer. There weren't enough War Assets.

And who cares about the intent? DA has been a single player game, and was originally touted as the legacy of great single player games (BG series). Just because it might be 'neat' to see the races of the galaxy working together doesn't mean it should affect the single player campaign in any way, shape, or form. If MP is self contained and contains references to SP that is cool, if SP contains references to MP that isn't cool.

This is not really logically correct... the main purpose of pause & tactical view is to give the other three party-members more mindful agency (from the controlling player) than the AI can deliver on its own - it allows the play to consider all four party-members at once. But if all 4 party members have their own player behind them, then it would not be necessary to tactically manage the other players and therefore the combat would not be compromised.

I just don't see what the point would be when there are literally dozens of MMO's that already do the same thing. And do it better.

Things like switching to different abilities on consoles, laying traps or glyph's and placing AoE abilities like wall of ice/fire would be much more difficult without the use of pause or the tactical view. Particularly since Inquisition is placing more of an emphasis on those elements than ever.

Depends on how it is done.

SP only: 'your troops are defending you keeps, Inquisitor...'

MP also: your troops are defending you keeps, Inquisitor...' - and then you do multiplayer to defend them...

I don't play mmos, I don't go out of my way to play mp.  I do however like bridge components of games to keep me interested in the series.  As for the point all you have to do is look at the popularity of ME mp.  The lore is popular, the classes were popular the classes were popular.
