Just not the 10 second scene that shows Shepard may be alive, you know the most important ending (to most) and the one that requires the most galactic readiness. No biggy, it's just the version of the ending that everyone wanted.

Its more of a variation within an existing ending (destroy) than a whole new ending. The most important or best ending depends on the person.

I used to be a member of the community. Now I'm just German.

One of the few times the entire BSN rallied together for something, hahaha

Does Deception even need a rewrite? So long as it's been smote from canon I feel Retribution feeds well into ME3.

I don't think it was ever officially removed from canon, but it SHOULD. Horrible novel. I haven't read DA's novels but I've been told they're pretty good.

I would honestly say each of the four Dragon Age novels, all of which I've obviously read in 2014 of course, have been superior to the three Mass Effect novels. Even the first two Dragon Age books (which are several steps beneath the second two) are better than anything Drew wrote. David's just a better novelist, I think, is all.

But I did enjoy Ascension and Retribution. Decent supplemental stories to be sure. Revelation was kind of weakly written IMO. Not bad, just didn't really stick with me.

So... what is this announcement? It's almost the end of the month.

You think that's bad?

Before DA came out, we were told to check the website where there was just an image that said JULY 6th. On July 6th, we hopped on the forums, and hit f5 on that page over and over and over.

They waited until *8 pm* before switching the image to July 12th. On July 12th, they changed the image to.... Dragon Age: Origins.

Previously, they'd just called it 'Dragon Age.'

All that, just to add ONE WORD TO THE TITLE.

Now that I vaguely remember.

That was back when I never had an account here...I miss those days sometimes...

So... what is this announcement? It's almost the end of the month.

I expect a PAX Prime announcement.

Even then, they still have until Sunday to inform us of the announcement...or rescheduling of the announcement.

Main character living pretty much qualifies as a whole new ending. Just saying.

Naturally...

As long as the PC lives at the end of the game I don't care about being the last person alive in the universe.  B)

I am sensing a number of people will act antagonistic to this post completely missing the sardonic humor.

Do not disappoint me other people!

The PAX schedule is now quite late, so I assume that and this announcement are somehow connected.

You know what I've wanted in Dragon Age since the start?  New Game Plus.  I'll hope for that as the big announcement.

I would love NG+ in a Dragon Age, but it would never be considered a big announcement. It would only ever be a small detail added to whatever Bioware would be marketing.

I'm kinda surprised people are dismissing it out of hand, really.

I am by no means a big MP player generally, but ME3 was really fun - and there was even some limited story elements in the way that the multiplayer had a campaign of its own. People started roleplaying characters and stories, even though the customisation options were non-existent.

It's possible to convince yourself you'll hate something before even trying it, and I think sometimes it does lead to missing out on great experiences.

(Sure it could be terrible, but why make any assumptions about it at this point?)

So long as the MP doesn't affect the SP (like needing to play MP to get the best ending or to finish quests in certain ways) I don't mind it but I'll be incredibly indifferent.

I don't agree to the whole "you have to try it before you know if you'll like it or not" thing though. I'm not specifically against MP in DA:I, I'm against it in general. I don't play them for the same reason that I don't play MMO games: I hate having strangers in my game. If I could solo MP I would play it happily but I can't so I won't.

I don't really mind playing with a friend (in a few games, but no PvP ever), but since I have a grand total of 1 friend that plays games at all it doesn't happen that often. Some people say they made friends in MP like the ME3 MP but I'm not interested in making friends over the internet so that doesn't appeal to me either.

I would very much like a release date for the keep but I wouldn't mind waiting for it either.

News about a toolkit would be great but there's been so much talk about how hard it is to mod frostbite 3...

Has there been any official news about the announcement? I'm starting to doubt that it'sbreally going to be something big...

Yes it is.  It was the only ended that even hinted at Shepard's survival. In that sense, it was a truly unique ending which, accidentally or deliberately, was locked out of purely SP play.  Despite repeated assurances that such a thing would not happen.

And that can and should make people suspicious about any future attempts to put MP in a primarilly SP game.

ME3 devs repeatedly said you could get the best ending through SP alone. This makes synthesis the best ending as it is the highest level ending you could get through SP alone. Then came the fallout and mantra was your ending is the best ending only it couldn't be as one ending, the most popular one, couldn't be completed through SP alone. I'll err on the side of caution and say that maybe a mistake was made somewhere down the line. Anyway, to get it back on Dragon Age, so far the combat I've seen doesn't excite me the way ME3 combat did. I actually liked the ME3 MP because of the combat, DA2 combat not so much and DA:I is very reminiscent of that style. But that's me, others may love it and that's cool. I'm not against DA:I MP and I'm willing to try it, but like I said before please keep it the away from SP.

As for the announcement, MP does seem likely and even inevitable, but who knows. Maybe it's another romance or a demo (unlikely) but I guess we'll see.

I love all the DA books as well, such a good insight to the lore. However, in the calling I was ready to start counting how many times I came across the word 'ichor' haha. I can't wait for the next book, but I wish David Gaider would start writing them again, as much as I loved TME.

So, yes, I’ll confirm: Varric is not a love interest in #DAI. I’ll see what I can do about getting a post up dispelling remaining mysteries.

I'm reading this as BioWare going into September/October's marketing push with unsubstantiated rumours denied and substantiated rumours confirmed, including the unspecified bonus content and any remaining announcements public and showcased.

Makes sense, you don't want the community and the press getting distracted and/or disappointed abut what's not there too close to release,

you want them getting excited about what is there (not story specific obviously).

Aye, it would be nice.

Gaider's gone on record stating that he'd prefer to work on more comics in the future though and leave further tie-in novels to other authors. I'm not the biggest fan of that decision as I vastly prefer books, but his rationale for it is pretty reasonable even for someone like me: he said it's just such a time-consuming process chock full of so many edits whereas with comics it's a faster time of things.

Mind you, I don't remember the exact wording, so don't quote me, but yeah, it was something at least mildly along those lines, on his tumblr account.

All that was said is that Destructoid are publishing an article later in August with a big announcement.

(I'm assuming other press outlets will be doing the same thing, and that it's under an embargo.)

Bioware haven't said a single thing about it officially.

I'm starting to doubt that it will be some big announcement... more likely is that it will be the embargo lifting on the Gamescom videos.

Chris Priestly @theevilchris:
Great evening playing poker @bioware tonight. And, if rumors are true, this week should be great for BioWare fans. Good luck team/friends!

They still haven't announced the PAX schedule and it's only a few days away, too.

I'm thinking there'll be a "big announcement" on Monday or Tuesday, then whatever it is will be playable on the PAX floor at the Bioware base.

The big announcement is...

"You wanted it you got it, the rumours are indeed true. After months of speculation and non-announcements, we a proud to announce...

Bertha the Nug is your final companion and romance option!

Hailing from the underground streets of Orzamarr, Bertha grew up in a time of turmoil, and time when the Dwarven people had no king to call their own.

Picked up, and not eaten by the hero of Ferelden was a huge turning point in Bertha's life, she can't wait to show off the finely honed warrior skills picked up in Orzamarr's nug pens.

You're welcome!"
