Shield Power Cells : how do you rate it ?

A recent platinum game in which I found that my survivability with Shield Power Cells 3 equiped on a vanilla human was as good as if I had used a cyclonic (maybe even better) reminded me how effective this armor bonus can be on characters with high mobility and low base shields, given the shield gate mechanism and how much damage ennemies do in platinum anyway.

However, I rarely see Shield Power Cells in lobbies (where cyclonics, power amps and adrenaline modules seem to be always prefered), so I was wondering if you BSNers consider it as a good option when you think about increasing your survivability ? If you do, which kits / what circumstances make you using it ?

Besides humans, I myself love it on characters who have already a good bonus to their shield recharge speed, like geth or kits with Blade Armor. This Batsent, for example, with almost 1600 shields and those shields regenerating after 1,2 second is very, very hard to kill. The Flamerless geth trooper, with a shield recharge delay who can possibly drop below 1 second, is also amazing.

I usually don't use them on most kits, unless I just don't have anything else I need to put in that gear slot, but sometimes I put them on Batarians, Geth, or the Krogan Soldier when I'm going for a quick-recharge build.

I use it on my no fitness Javelin Infiltrators, because odds are if you are attacked on plat with such a character you will be gated (even with a cyclonic) and need to get to cover anyway, and it reduces the amount of time before you can get back up and start dishing out damage again.

As if GI weren't already powerful enough, a PC III on top of Geth shield regen makes his shields come back to full after just a couple of seconds.

I have the feeling that a lot of players do the same.

Don't really have any use for them tbh .. on the vanilla HA for example, I find the power efficiency modules far more beneficial as they up my deeps ..

I use Adrenaline on anything without a dodge. Power Amp on anything with grenades, heavy hitting powers like Smash or Phase Disruptor or DoT powers like Dark Channel. Power Efficiency if I put a Heavy Weapon on a caster. And Shield Power Cells on anything that doesn't fall into any of the previous categories. I can't remember the last time I used a Cyclonic.

So I guess I don't rate it too highly. But I find it more useful than a Cyclonic.

Normally Talon .. super lightweight, good for shield stripping, great on a biotic kit with warp ammo (duh - like you didn't know that)

Although I am thinking of doing a cheesed up version of the HA with a reegar and incendiary ...

I'm not sure why exactly, but I've never been too fond of adrenaline modules to increase my survivability, except on drells (a drell with some points in fitness and adrenaline mod 3 equiped is indeed very hard to hit). About survivability again, power efficiency modules are a good option on volus, I think I even prefer it than cyclonics on those guys.

I guess that you use the heavy barrel on it, and maybe a 66606 build (hence the need to increase the power recharge speed) ?

Nooooooo ! Don't do that, it would be an insult to the most beautiful character in the game ! I could forgive you only if you do a sub-30 platinum solo with this build.

Apart from the obvious speed boost (sprint, pizza, side stepping Brutes) I've been a big fan of Adrenaline Module's since I discovered that, with one equipped, my Tsent can walk backwards faster than a Banshee can teleport.

I like it on characters that have abilities to quicken the shield recharge (fortification, barrier, blade armor). That's pretty much it. Cyclonics, power amp and adrenaline take precedence for me.

lol .. the Reegar is probably not going to be used like this

I don't use the HVB on the HA Talon .. but the power efficiency consumables still improve CD on powers, even when using a light loadout ..

Edit: I normally run 66635 build

Yes. With the Batsent build I linked in the OP, a good point is that, for example, your shields start to recover immediatly after a Brute's charge, so you're not health gated by the Marauder or the Ravager shooting you right after. The build shines also against geth, who don't have any DoT attack.

Yes. I think it is possible to actually reach 245% recharge speed. Correct me if I'm wrong.

While i'm not sure of the exact figures, I do know from in game experience that having a power efficiency module still speeds up your CD's, even if your loadout has %200

They're great... just as long as you remember they do not augment the Shield Gate timer.

I generally use them on vorcha and drell. It increases my survivability with those kits. I also use them on low fitness/no fitness builds.

I do like them but most of the time I feel I'd play better with more speed instead.

I use them on kits where it's possible to get lightning fast shield recharge times but apart from that I use them sparingly.

Power amps and especially Adrenaline mods are my favourite armour bonus.

Precisely. One of the down sides of soloing a lot (or maybe rage-quitting a lot)... A while back, I started to you use any equipment I had available rather than pug for more. I realized how good shield power cells are and will often use them for solos. Cyclonics still trump for most kits (when soloing) in my opinion, but since I'm usually out of Cyclonics, Adrenaline and power amps.. shield power cells have become my go to. They've completely replaced cyclonics for pug games as well.. cyclonics are reserved for solos lol.
