I want my higher tier weapons to hit higher than the ones below them, what's the best way to do that? I'm new to D&D and im working on a module.

For example;

A level 1 sword hits average 10,

So I want my level 5 sword to hit an average of 15-20

Could someone provide a method for this?

By level 5 sword, do you mean a +5 sword? There are already various +5 weapons in the toolset Items blueprints--have a look at their Item Properties settings.

No, the level 1 weapon is basic, so it has no item properties.

What properties would I need to make it do that little bit of extra damage?

Of course, higher level weapons would be a lot higher damage

One of the available Item Properties options should be to provide a damage bonus, if that is all you want. Select the bonus type you want and the amount of the bonus damage.

if the sword is intended for a 5th level NPC: use Rj's method
if the sword is intended for a 5th level PC: use Rj's method.

That said, there are various ways to increase attack & damage. An NPC can have its Strength boosted, eg. But player would have to choose to do that for a PC.

as mentioned, there are stock blueprints that serve basic needs like this. Maybe you're looking for Enhancement Bonus -- it increases attack & damage both. There are other itemproperties that boost (or reduce) attack & damage separately. Or do a ton of other things ....

The general rule for standard progression is +1 bonus per 4 character levels. So ya don't dish out +5 weapons until 20th level encounters (... or special circumstances perhaps).
