I would attach a poll to this, but don't know how with the newer site.

How does Casey Hudson's departure from the company affect your optimism about the direction ME4 will take?

It makes me feel like they might have realized how badly he screwed up Mass Effect 3 and his separation from Bioware was a direct result of that, in which case they might make a genuine effort to reclaim the roots of the franchise. Still will be waiting for user reviews and reactions on this forum first, but I might actually get a new copy if I hear good things instead of picking up a preowned game several months after release.

Hudson was never the director of MENext, and BioMontreal had their story ideas in place (assuredly with his input) quite a while before he left.

His departure shouldn't affect how people feel about the next game in any way.

Just as long as the protagonist isn't a superhero, I'll be fine with it.

A superhero would be an improvement over a space-messiah.

I have no plans to purchase Mass Effect 4, his leaving has no influence on that decision.

I don't know how much input he actually had in the game (or in the previous games, outside of the ending).

I do find it very sad, personally. Ray and Greg, Stanley Woo, Casey Hudson...

Casey Hudson actually seemed pretty burned out with Mass Effect from what I saw just before ME3.

I was far more surprised that BW was planning to do ME:Next so soon after 3 and that Hudson was involved.

Most comments I've seen (Granted the comment sections on gaming sites are atrocious) have people saying they're more interested now he's left I tend to agree. With a new team and no Hudson ME4 could go either way, however it turns out i'm sure it wont be mediocre. Top shelf and Terribad are what's on offer.

The heck you say! The Vanguard will always be the superhero to me.

Working at a theatre in Edmonton, I've met Hudson twice at the movies. He seems like a nice enough and amiable guy in person (though he did seem a bit creeped out that I recognized him both times  :P).

I dunno how I feel about his departure. On the one hand, he was pretty much the original mind behind Mass Effect. On the other hand, he's responsible for that ending.

Doesn't change a thing for me.

I barely know which people play in the bands I like. I'm absolutely clueless about who makes my games. If it weren't for the people who're convinced their life has been ruined by Casey/Mac, I still wouldn't know.

Don't care still though.

Are you this apathetic when it comes to the people running your country, too?

Yeah because that's exactly the same; people who create a fantasy world or make music, and the people who govern a country.

A "yes" or "no" answer would have sufficed.

Sure, I was just amazed you'd relate things that have absolutely no real relevance to my life (music, games) to something that does.

It's just the general attitude. Glad to hear you care about politics, at least.

I've already said I will purchase ME Next. Casey's leaving won't change that.

Whether you liked the ME3 ending or not there's no disputing that Hudson received much of the blame during the backlash. I'm concerned that with the way ME4 development was going, he saw the writing on the wall and reasoned that he ought to go or the fans will blame him again. He's a bright guy who cares about his career and two consecutive duds would really sour his legacy. I wish I could immerse myself in the cautious optimism the rest of you seem to have but I've been burned far too many times to be anything but cynical with regards to Hudson's departure.

Yup.

With or without Hudson, MENext first has to answer one question:

Why should I trust you again?

Indeed, you don't want to go through a journey only to hit a brick wall for the second time.

I feel positive now that his hand won't be in it. Much like with Lucas and Star Wars/
