I'm curious about this specialization for mages, is it like the arcane warrior?

Among the Circles of Magi, only a few mages have the strength of will necessary to focus their energy inward. Wrapped in protective magics and wielding blades of arcane force, the Knight Enchanters are rare, but inspiring sights as they lead the charge into enemy ranks
Taken directly from the Dragonage website.
It is almost certain that it is a Arcane Warrior replacement class. Given that The Warden was the last living person known to be able to use the AW abilities and that whilst it was my favourite class by a country mile, it was massively OP - BW probably changed it to KE to balance it better.
That and, there was massive amounts of backlash for the lack of AW in DA2 if I remember correctly.

the devs said it won't be as tanky and that you don't get to wield other classes weapons.
...but can we hit people with our staff?

I wonder if the arcane blades will be like skyrims bound sword or the wizards spectral blades like in Diablo..
im happy with either
I really think it's gonna end up being like conjuring literal magical blades or somehow converting your staff into a sexy sword or something. Either way, they specifically said that KE would give the mage the potential to be on the front lines, something I need since I've already decided my final party being Magequisitor, Sera on Bow, IB on Heavy Weaps, and Dorian Mage.
Is your knight enchanter going to be a qunari like mine? I think it was confirmed that you would attack with summoned weapons, similar to bound weapons in Skyrim I guess.
You will attack in melée, but be less tanky that Arcane Warriors were, I guess because that was stupidly broken and overpowered.

But, I like stupidly broken and overpowered.... lol
Seriously tho, I can't wait for KE!
Human Femaile Mage with Solas, Cole, and Blackwall!
Dude, KE sounds really awesome. But I'm waiting for other specializations to be released before I make a final choice. Also are we able to have two specializations like before or only one this time around?

One spec this time. It's supposed to be mentioned or acknowledged during the story somehow...

I actually like this as it does offer more replay, because you have to focus more on that particular talent and build around it.

I guess if that's true then I'm not going to be a Necromancer since people see that and blood magic one and the same ![]()

Necromancy is not illegal, merely frowned upon in some areas. In Nevarra, they revere the dead and allow spirits to possess corpses within a special area known as the Necropolis. So while some people may be squeamish, some will not... regardless, you will not be hated the way blood mages are.
