I stopped caring a long time ago. Civilized society and morality is a facade we try to use to imprison the natural evil all all humans carry within it. Monsters embrace their true human nature while the rest of us try to cling on to the facade. Committing acts of evil is nothing out of the ordinary for humans. Goodness, compassion, morality. Those are the oddities. Those aspects go against Human nature.
watching the news is destroying me...

Interesting read. So it's really over the past 60 years we have become professional killers.
Try reading about some of the events of the Thirty Years War(1618-1648), one of the most destructive conflicts in European history.

Exceeeeeept that if this was true, humans would have eradicated themselves back when we were still living in caves.Committing acts of evil is nothing out of the ordinary for humans. Goodness, compassion, morality. Those are the oddities. Those aspects go against Human nature.
As social creatures, it's an evolutionary imperative to help and care for other people of the tribe because you are dependant on them for survival. Selfishness and acts considered harmful to the tribe were harshly punished, sometimes even with indirect death by exile, because even a single person hogging food or other valuable commodities like medicinal plants or tools for himself could endanger the whole tribe.
We've come this far, from walking in caves to walking on the moon, BECAUSE of goodness, compassion and morality, not in spite of it. This isn't just hopeful thinking either, it's scientific fact. "Evil" is an abberation in human behaviour caused by damaged genes and a negative environment.

The world is full of soul crushing ****, no doubt. But it's always been that way. It's not just the news. We just have our heads in it too much these days.
On the flipside, there's plenty of inspiring things as well. I suggest exposing yourself to it as much as you can (not that you aren't already, but just saying). I know it helps me at least.

Considering that i hear all the world news on the radio at work everyday i kinda have to adopt a bit of an apathetic attitude but it still bloody suck hearing about all the things that happen in this world. I'd get depressed about it if i didn't make jokes about everything all the time. I've had to stop looking for the news since they always end up where i'm at either way, stuff is crappy but i suppose it still could be worse. Always something..

The amount of evil being committed in the middle east is horrific, i feel useless not being able to help.
I chose to go down my field in Biomedical engineering because I believe I can make a difference in this world and help. I absolutely refuse to die without making a positive difference in this world. At first I myself wanted to go into law because I wanted to help remove some truly evil scum from this planet, but Biomedical engineering will allow me to give back someone their life, or even give them a new chance in life: born without limbs, born blind, lost a limb in life etc.
I promised myself to go through life with a positive and friendly attitude. If a negative experience can affect someone long term then so can a positive one. I will help, cheer up and welcome anyone in my life, treat others the way you want to be treated yourself.
I am thankful and lucky to not witness a single thread of evil, but I do not know what my future holds. I fully believe I am a good person and if faced in a situation where evil is around the corner, I will do the right thing.

Thats why some people get killed because they are unaware of things.Just don't watch/read it then. I stopped paying attention to the news because it just made me mad at the news and very little else.
