So I've played a crazy amount of Origins, and seen pretty much all there is to see.  I've selected my four favourite playthroughs to send to the Dragon Age Keep when it comes up.  

 

For my fifth slot, though, I wanted to do the few things left I haven't tried.  Specifically, I've never built a Reaver, a sword-and-shield warrior, or started an Orlesian Warden from scratch in Awakening.

 

So may question is this: Is a viable Reaver sword-and-board warrior starting fresh in Awakening possible on higher difficulties?  And what would it look like?

 

I ask because I'm terrible at figuring out viable builds, and this is the first time I've not been able to find pre-made ones online.  I've seen Reaver builds that require only equipment that's only available in Origins.  And all the awakening-specific word-andshield builds I've found have been willpower Spirit Warrior ones.  

 

This would be for hard-mode PS3 version.  If it's relevant, this playthrough I'll be taking all the evil/selfish/pragmatic choices (which I've also never done in Awakening).  

 

On a relevant side-note, does anyone know how DA2 handles the Warden's history from Origins if you import a character created vanilla in Awakening...?  I'd like this to be my 5th Keep character

You can't import saves into the keep.

Any build is viable in Awakening-it's just that easy.Or Origins as well.

I know.  I was curious about imports to DA2.  Awakening would only provide flags for things like Fool's Gold/Finding Nathaniel, and that one where amaranthine nobles want to kill you.  I was wondering what happened with all the non-awakening decisions.  Would I find Sophia or the Dark Epiphany on the wounded coast?  Dalish hunters or the woman looking for the werewolf cure?  What's the default Origins if you only play Awakening.

 

I plan to recreate whatever it is in the keep.

Try stacking up dodge boosting gear for more survivability. Cinch of skillful maneuvering, first enchanter's cowl, fleet feet, 3xEvasion runes net you 50% dodge. If you choose to pick up Spirit Warrior as one of the other two specs besides Reaver, you gain access to Beyond the Veil which provides another 50% dodge when active; that is a complete immunity to basic physical attacks. To cope with the health drain associated with the reaver talents, health regen items and/or a healer spamming Regeneration and Heal is usually enough.
