[Bayonet Hipshot]

From the latest demo we saw that our followers were represented with Tarot versions of themselves.

 

I am not into Tarot or anything of that sort of thing myself but it was pretty cool to see that. Gives us an idea of the followers themselves. 

 

Did someone get a screenshot of them ? From the top of my head, Varric is the Sun, Cassandra is the Death and I don't know what the others represent. 

 

Which would mean...

 

Varric :- Being the Sun or rather, his chest hair is the Sun, it represents optimism, charisma, focus on the good stuff, inspiration. It represents path to success and enlightment. 

 

Well, with Varric being, well, Varric, it is not surprising to see him depicted as the Sun. 

 

Cassandra :- Death represents change, it represents the end of something and the need to change. It represents being involved in severe loss and being helpless about it. It represents a person cracking under great duress, worry and obsession. It represents inevitability of things. 

 

With the Chantry leadership dead / wiped out, world going nuts, Seeker Order disbandment, etc, it is easy to see why she is depicted as Death. 

 

Anyone knows about the rest ? I saw Blackwall, Cole and Solas but don't know what they represented.

The Moon ? That would make sense. 

 

The Moon is associated with the unfamiliar yet beautiful. It is related to disconnection of values in which a person is raised, an alienation from the norm of life. The Moon is aimless in their goals and ambitions as well as confusion. 

 

If one wants to describe the Moon in one sentence, it would be :- Things are not always as they seem. 

 

Which for Cole, is perfect.

 

I am starting to think Bioware orients their core characters based on Tarot cards.

Solas may be the Hermit, although he seems to hold a flame in his hand rather than a lantern.  It's very fitting.  I agree that Cole is The Moon.

I know absolutely nothing about tarot cards, other than that the DA:I ones look pretty.

I was doing a side project where I was guessing who might represent what arcana... I was so sure that Cassandra would be Justice, but I see Death being an interesting arcana for her too... 

 

For Solas he seems like a Heirophant to me, but Hermit might also make sense. And yeah, I 100% agree with Cole as the Moon and Varric as the Sun.

The Hermit :- Seeks answers alone, finding answers in the non-physical world, rise above desire and emotions, goes into seclusion to learn about the world and then returns to the world with the knowledge gained, can be a mentor.

 

Seeing as Solar has intimate understanding of the Fade / non physical world, a lone intellect, self-accomplished mage, seems to mentor the Inquisition(from the trailer with him yanking the Inquisitor's hand to close the tear)....

 

Yep, he is the Hermit.

 

Funnily enough, I had done a Tarot card test once out of curiosity. Based on my birth date, I am hermit. Personality wise I am the Magician.

The Inquisitor is sort of a blank slate. They can be whatever tarot you want them to be. 

 

I might go either The Hermit or The Magician for my Inquisitor.

What about Ser Blackwall though ? We saw his card right ? It would be fun to speculate moar on him, we don't know much about him after all.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one getting a semi-persona vibe from this. I hope the advisors also represent some arcana as well.

There was a previous image somewhere which showed part of the Dorian card. He was holding his hand in the typical Hierophant pose. It was part of the marketing for one of the special game editions, but I don't know where I saw it.  Maybe someone else will.

*babbling starts* I am sooo jealous of everyone who is getting the physical ones. They look so stunning! If I had more money I would have gotten the Inquisitor's addition just for the cards. *-* I think all the work, from just the little bits we've seen, is phenomenal and of great talent. I want to put them in a giant frame and hang them in my room!They are just so pretty and unf, I'll stop babbling now. xD *end babbling*

 

As far as the titles, I agree with Cole as the moon and Solas as the hermit!

My point was to give my opinion on the tarot cards.  I don't remember "agree with the majority opinion" being listed as one of the site rules.

Really. So just because it has the tarot, it's now too much like Persona? What sort of sense does that make?
