150 hours.

So they are basically hyping the game to be very, very long... longer that The Witcher 3 as well.

Interesting.

The difference is that when CD Projekt Red says ''our game is 100 hours long" you know they are telling the truth.

But Bioware, with their 30+ ME3 endings...

I am not going to call them liars. Not yet.

I guess we shall see.

No bias here. And another difference is that I have played the DA series.

Game length at this amt of time will vary from each indv Player. I expect mine will be longer than most due to my style of plat and saves.

my guess is 2/3 of what the devs say, maybe even as much as half, and on subsequent playthroughs even less

I know I don't expect my first playthrough to go very quickly. I'm not a big explorer who just goes out to the random ridge on the horizon just 'cause, but I do tend to like trying to complete every quest I come across, so I'm completionist in that sense. And, every so often, I do see something in the scenery that might compel me to go out and check it out ... just 'cause. That is the exception though.

And I do tend to be "that" person who will read a book over and over if I love the story. Same thing with a game. If I love the story, I'll play it much more than just once. So, as I start playing this one over and over, I'll get to where I'll know where my favorite and least favorite areas are. I'll learn how to linger in and draw out my favorite bits and how to cut corners in and speed up my least favorite bits. I got good at speeding through Orzammar and the Deep Roads in DA:O even though they still took too long ... but I expect my times to come down somewhat as I get better at figuring out how to get the most out of my play experience.

It's actually all three for me. I've only ever played the first Halo and I liked it. I want to check out the others. And then there's Pokemon. But mainly there's Dragon Age.

I can pretty easily put off Pokemon, though. I'm not really hooked to the series. I'll play it on the bus rides to school but otherwise not touch it until after DA. As for Halo... I guess it'll depend on how into it I get!

Regardless though I'm not doing more than the "story" in Pokemon nor am I likely to get into Halo's MP. So some might say I'm missing the point in both cases, but hey, it means they won't be time sinks. Makes things easier.

Now, as for exams...

My advice to you Jeff is to read the Halo books. They're excellent and really do a great job of fleshing out the universe. Halo has one of the best...worlds, lore, whatever--that I've ever seen.

Thanks! I've heard that before, yeah. People have told me once you get into supplemental it's actually pretty vast. I wonder if I should read any of them ahead of grabbing that Master Chief Collection.

No, I don't. CD Projekt RED also exaggerated their ending count for the Witcher 2 by saying it had sixteen different endings. Game companies will hype up their game by fudging semantics any day, every day.

And BioWare never said they had over 30 endings.

As for Inquisition, if I play for over 100 hours I'll be impressed. Very few games can hold my attention for that long on a single playthrough.

Hmm. That's a good question.

If I were you I'd read The Fall Of Reach before playing the games. The majority of the novels are supplementary, rather than being about Halo's main protagonist, John or SPARTAN 117, but that one basically shows the origins of the SPARTAN program and introduces a few key characters (including John).

Most others are written after the events of the games (at least the first three), or have little to do with the game's characters, so they can be read anytime (though you'll probably want to look at a timeline to be sure).

I haven't read them but I heard most were pretty good. Criticism going towards (surprise) Dietz' Halo novel.

Thank you! I'll pick up that first book in a couple of weeks. I shall make it, alongside Dragon Age: The Last Flight, priorities on bus rides in the couple of months ahead.

Oh gosh, that's right. This is the franchise where that Dietzean rabbit hole all began, isn't it...?

I'm going to bet if people stick only to the main questline and move at a average speed throught it the real completion time will clock in at 30 to 40 hours at most

Another one that had some serious issues is a book written by a woman named Karen Traviss, called Halo Glasslands. I personally had serious issues with the book because of how it portrayed certain characters that contradicted past portrayals. I actually didn't mind Dietz' novel The Flood (it's basically a retelling of Halo), though it's nowhere near as good as Eric Nylund's novels (he wrote Fall of Reach).

Game Length is up to interpretation of each individual. It isn't wrong to play a game and finish it in a second, or years.

I'm hoping it takes me at LEAST (though hopefully more lol) 100 hours to finish the game completely; the more time I have to spend in this beautiful game the better! Who am I kidding; I'll be lucky if I'll have time to finish the game in six months. Not that much free time with work and a family. My wife will have a "bit" more time to play, and I enjoy watching her have fun so even if I don't play I'll probably just snuggle up with her while she's playing. I am really looking forwards to this game though, despite not having so much free time. Maybe I'll take a few vacation days?

I'm going to take 27 years to play through the story. I will be 54 years old when I've finished. With any luck, there'll be more Dragon Age games and I can continue that pattern until I'm over 400.

Lol, I was going to be 1,000 by time I finished DA:I, in time to start the DA4, and go another 1,000.....huh, wonder how many games I would get behind on then. ;)

I wrote how I could end one of my inquisitor games in Happy ending or bust thread.

Game length would be as long as it took for the inquisitor to crawl out of the blast and fall down, then shut off the game, saying, well...that one died, and everyone else will die as well cause of it....oooooo that might be the most villainous way to go.

Dang it, I'm still out of likes. But yes, we'll also need to look into keeping whatever we play the games on in top shape, and should global affairs over the centuries turn our locations less hospitable, we'll need to be ready to move to other parts of the world.

We'll figure this out!

...unless a Red Templar punches him in the stomach area. Then he'll tap out during the second fade rift.
