I read in another post how someone ended up at the gates of Denerim in the final battle and Sten still had no armour or weapons.

It reminded me when I first made it through to the landsmeet and my femCousland was championing Alistair. I only had a few health potions and Loghain was smackin' my arse every time. I loaded a previous save in order to find more potions but of course, couldn't find nearly enough.

I had to opt out and start the game again - this time I bought health potion recipes and made sure I had about 100 greater health potions. I also let Al do the fight.

What about you guys? Any funny first time stories? Do share. ;)

I recall my embarrassment during my first campaign of the many reloads that were made in attempting to never getting hit by any Darkspawn to avoid the Taint. Also discovering that party tactics were much easier when they were not being Held....

Where the sloth demon puts you to sleep I reloaded and tried Dog  because I thought they wouldn't go to sleep. Wow dog goes down fast there.

Giving Alistair Champion as second job makes him die too much... not only against Loghain.

I had always make him reaver so he could use the Frightening appearence against Orange and yellow enemies while  calling the atention of grunts by the use of massive armor+provoking+taunting, plus Defyling saves him from falling constantly in battle.

But of course i defiled the ashes in my first run so I got that job early... in second one i ditched him and recruited Loghain because i butched him by turning him into a champion... changed the tank to the old Morelos Aeduncan as soon as I could.

Using Walking Bomb-spells (don't remember the "better" one) on many enemies, then shooting a fireball on them... All while my whole party is next to them and I forgot that I was playing nightmare. *KABOOM!* Everyone died.

Not a 'first time' story (though I think the discussion may have already diverted, so I guess this isn't a threadcr@p)... I was screencapping something in party camp, and had taken away Alistair's weapons. Next time I started up the game, I world mapped to resume questing, and landed in the Trickster Whim random encounter. Of course, I'd neglected to reequip Ser Theirin with his gear on the way out, but fortunately, he's so amazingly amazing that he beat the T. Whims to death with his fabulous pixel fists.

(LOL that silly 'Chrysler Building' DA2 champion armour I'm so sorry Alistair and I'll never do that to you again.)

^^LOL^^ It is funny to see him punching instead of sword play :D

I was the one who had Sten and never used him, never gave him any weapon or did not even know he had a personal quest. I had played through at least 3 times before I realized Leliana also had a personal quest :P

Oh, and 3 places i always died in the early plays... Zevran's ambush.... Circle tower where the Templars are behind that last door with a blood mage before the sloth demon puts you to sleep... In the deep roads where all those darkspawn are with the forge-master (somewhere just before meeting Hespith)

What I found "funny" about my first blind playthrough was how most of my companions ended up dead. Zevran was killed, Sten was left in the cage, Leliana turned on me over ashes, Wynne turned on me when I clicked "Rest easy, I'll get rid of these pesky mages" (it sounded funny), and Shale turned on me over the anvil of the void. I recall travelling through the Dalish wilderness with Morrigan, Alistiar, and Dog because at this point (4/5 questline) I truly had no one else to bring. It was pretty empty at camp. At in the post-coronation ceremony only Dog and Oghren were there as Alistair spoke.

It was also humorous how Leliana was still wearing her Chantry robes up until her death. I didn't know how to change armor for companions I guess.

I always got done in sacred ashes quest (using boys :P ). The first big cave with the two mages and cultists my whole team were goners. Then I played as a girl  and finally made it through. Except for that I refused the DR, Al died and I went to bed and sulked. :(

I thought the higher ranked characters dropped the blood vials of darkspawn blood.  So at the end of Kocari wilds I was short a vial and couldn't find one.

On my first play through, I went straight to Orzammar. That proved to be a very bad decision. I also didn't know that you could leave the Deep Roads, so I fought my way to the Anvil of the Void without ever restocking my supplies. I didn't know that you could craft either, so by the end of it everyone in my party had at least one injury.

I didn't know either you could leave the deep roads.

In RedCliffe I could not figure out how to get the night battle to start, so my party left and came back... Teagan was yelling at us something about abandoning the village, I guess everyone died :o

I saved Zev the first time and he turned on my character during the Taliesen fight. So, the next play-through I killed him :(. I never did that again, I had no idea about the whole approval thing.

When I first got Zevran I thought OMG he doesn't have any Constitution!  So I gave him Constitution.  Was that wrong?  :)

First time there I didn't know we could leave the deep roads either and ended up having to lower the difficulty after running out of pots and not having a healer in the group.

Made same mistake of leaving redcliffe before the night battle and that was even hearing the warnings I just plain forgot.

I don't remember now which game has the loading screen message about saving your game often but this is one thing I fail at even today.  I have done this far to many times to list.

I know this thread is meant for DA stuff but after reading through the posts I thought of what so far has been the most embarrassing thing I have ever done in a video game and that is saying something since I am known in MMOs as that person who has died every way possible and thought I would share.  The game was Everquest back in 1999.  For those that don't know your skills increased by using them and as a cleric there were a few spells I didn't use much.  Also to get from one continent to the other you either had to have a druid or wizard friend to port you or you rode the boats and I was cheap so I always rode the boat.

Setting is me standing on the dock waiting for boat to show up so I decided to practice one of my spell lines and fastest and lowest mana cost was my root spell.  First mistake was picking this spell near water and second mistake was for me to practice alcohol tolerance at the same time.  In that game after drinking the screen would get all blury and your character would start bouncing around to mimic being drunk.  Well the root spell didn't stop you from the bouncing and I bounced right off the dock into the water in front of a bunch of people.  So now I am rooted to the ground under water and being to drown and I can't move at all.  Probably the only time that spell affect lasted for the full duration and I died.  It has been over 10 years since that happened and I can feel my face getting red just typing this and I never did hear the end of that, everyone on that server knew about that.  Oh good times indeed.

Not knowing that going back to camp healed all injuries and I ran out of 'kits when I first started playing. On top of that, I sucked.

All my companions were walking bruises.

Funny coincidence...I accidentally clicked Alistair and got the juicy gossip convo instead of looting the high dragon, then headed back to camp for pots and triggered the shriek attack.  During Al's "The camp's not safe anymore," cutscene, Zevran was back to back with the warden in closeup, looking far too innocent for his own good.  I'd say the camp's not safe  :P  :D

No, Camp not safe. All that had to happen was the words deadly sex goddess to pass Zev's lips and yep - you're coming with me. Not manipulated at all. ;)

Shame you didn't get a screensave.

Heh, I have a funny one. I called Sten and Oghren to break me out of Fort Drakon, and I love their dialogue and how Sten is deadly serious about comedy, but I charged on in and got them both killed two times in a row later, and it took me halfway through my third attempt to realize I was forgetting to re-equip them  after firing the ballista.

I only picked Alistair & dog once to break me out of FD. (he was not with my warden when rescuing the queen). He was so bad at it. LOL~~Morrigan was right, Dog actually WAS smarter.
