Notice those two Dalish clan symbols on the map?

The one at the top belongs to Merrill's clan!

Given that the Sabrae clan might make a return, this could lead to a cameo for Merrill maybe? Or even the Dalish warden!
In many playthoughs Hawke ended up killing the clan (the choice that leads to them not being killed wasn't obvious), so this could be totally optional, unless not all of them died.

What are your thoughts? Discuss! (But keep it respectful!)

Good eye, and great post. I'm curious about the implication of the symbols. Is it a sign of the Inquisitor allying with the Dalish, and helping claim land in the Dales and Orlais for the Elvhen? I remember an early interview where an example was given about how siding with Orlais would mean causing ire among the Dalish (although it was never specified whether or not this was simply a hypothetical or an actual conflict).

There he is.  :P

I imagine that siding with Orlais would cause conflict with the Dalish if Briala has actually been somewhat successful in her goals uniting city and Dalish elves...

I think those markers could represent camps. But all is up in the air at this point really. I would love the change to have them as an ally, that'd be cool!

I feel we'll at some point be given the choice of:

Celene
Gaspard

I might would put Masked Empire spoilers under a spoiler tag! Never know who hasn't read it yet.

And I'm skeptical of that third option, when have we ever had a three way choice in DA (or ME?)

we usually get one of two sides to support

Uh... how is that spoiler... she wanted that since the beginning of the book, I'm not talking about the specific actions she took.

That would be nice. They've gone far too long without a homeland, and waiting for the human kingdoms to give them land didnt work out well after DAO. Time to carve out a place of their own. The Inquisition could certainly help with that.

And also Briala sort of gave up on her notions of the Dalish when she MET them.

She is in it for the elves of Orlais, not the snooby elitists who act like they live in rural 1870s Missouri.

I'm moderating an elven group now due to how the elven threads in the public forums tend to go bad and derail off the tracks (so that people can talk about elven interests in peace), but I made an exception given the sincere attempt made by the OP.

That's a good point. Siding with the elves could agitate Celene and Gaspard, and close off that Orlesian venue by opening an elven story branch. It's a path I'm interested in.

Hmm, comparing the maps, while the clan symbol is certainly on the right shore of the waking sea, it seems to be too far west to be Sundermount. Obviously it is possible they moved between then and now, I was under the impression they were stuck partially because they'd lost all their halla.

Will be interesting to see if the symbol moves as the game progresses.

I'd wager the possibility that Maybe Merrill revives the clan maybe? Like gathered Wayward elves and such.

Because following a blood mage with a mirror fixation is a healthy and sane course of action.

Depending on Player actions, Merrill could give up the mirror fixation.

Merrill stops focusing on her endeavor to construct an Eluvian in Friendship and Rivalry.

No more insane than them doing nothing and having no place in the world. Not like humans are going to help them. Merrill would make a bad ass leader. Kill everyone with cuteness.

Merrill was by far my favorite character in Dragon Age 2, and really the only thing that kept me coming back to the game. Seeing her again would be fantastic.

People like you make me sick. You're so edgy with your genocide fetish, arent you?

WULFIE! OH HOW I'VE MISSED YOU!

Fantasizing about killing an entire group of people is pretty messed up even if it is a video game.

Dalish Vereesa, not people.

"Racism is fine when its against a stand-in for a race and not an actual race!" No. Its still wrong.

Doubt there's a RL race as vile as the Dalish and besides, It's a DA tradition to wipe clan of them in each game. I didn't even intend to do it in DA2, one minute I'm helping Merrill do whatever it was that she wanted to do with the magic mirror and the next thing I know I'm going death squad on the local Dalish and burning down their lemonade and hot dog stands.

A highlight of the game for sure.

You know?  Maybe if people dialed down the baiting and self-righteousness, we could actually discuss Merrill in a productive fashion.

Ughh hate it how people have to rationalize someones hatred for the Dalish by concluding that we must be RL racists or take one encounter with someone and apply it to all that don't like them.
I'm sure it must make things easier for you to deal with how someone can possibly reach such a conclusion by deciding we are all moustache twirling evil racist villains for not liking the Dalish but it simply isn't the case.

Anyway if Emperor Gaspard doesn't want Dalish on his lands running amok my Inquisitor will be more than happy to get rid of them for him.
