I keep hitting walls.  Have the CD game, installed it.  Found the million posts about the patches and updater, after sorting through 99999 of them, I found the up-to-date links and got the patches and the updater (2.2.7).

Given that the built-in update doesn't work (cannot connect to server, etc).

So the first run with the updater and the first patch gives me a Dialog.TLK issue.

Reinstall.  Next try with updater gives me a NWN.EXE issue.  Apparently the old NWN.EXE exists, but doesn't match.  The NWN.EXE (really NWN application) shows 0 KB, so something is wrong with that?  I tried reinstalling with all anti-virus turned off, still same effect.

Can someone help me please?

sorta sounds like it *might* be a permissions thing, where your OS isn't allowing the installation/updater to write to a protected folder

nwn.exe (updated to v1.23) is 92kb

If you're trying to install the game to \Program Files, I strongly suggest removing that and installing the game to the root of a large drive. Mine is "F:\Neverwinter Nights 2" for example,

I have it on D:\Neverwinter Nights2\ So it's pretty root :( Trying to find an NWN.exe to replace the current one. The last problem I had was Dialog.TTK, now NWN.exe. I'm kinda worried that I'll keep hitting walls after I find a way past this

yeh you could be right about that,

i wonder if there's enough space on your C: for temporary files to do whatever they need to do ...

But don't you get corrupt file errors or deletion of saved games when you reach the inn (where you meet Khelgar) if you don't use the default installation folder?

no, not me. I've had installation on the root of F: always, since 2008.

and my Override is getting so big, am tempted to see if I can move it out of Docs also. I don't like big programs (apart from Windoze) on C:

[edit] disclaimer: I use XP

I use Vista, and I've never had the game installed to the default location, or on the C: drive at all.  For me, it's installed in a "games" subfolder of another drive, not on the root.  I never had any corruptions in the OC of missing or resetting quests or saved games as you mention.  Though I did have one very strange bug where a tutorial quest (Wizard's Arsenal) kept reappearing in my journal with the usual "ding! scribble!" sound as if I crossed a trigger for it throughout the OC, where there should not have been any reason for it.
