People are spreading rumors like crazy. I just want confirmation that Bioware has not said anything about ME:TNG being set as a "side-quel" or "prequel".

Best not to trust anything you read on the internet between now and whenever Bioware decides to make an announcement. Trolling gamers is a hobby for some people.

I'm sure it's going to be in space.

They haven't said anything, but doing anything but a sequel at this point would be like shooting themselves in the foot with a Davy Crockett. So, provided you trust BioWare to do the sensible thing, you should have nothing to worry about.

I can confirm that they haven't denied that it's a prequel or sidequel.

But yeah, the business about it being a sidequel was nothing more than the product of Twitter dithering and overzealous journalism.

I have a strange feeling that Mass Effect IP future is tied to DA:I success (or lack of it, which is also possible). Maybe in the worst case scenario there will be no new ME or DA games at all... I really hope we will never see this worst case scenario.

ME:TNG?

Can't we just call it ME4?

TNG makes me think of Star Trek and I like the idea that BW rages every time we call the new game ME4

Unlikely. Even if DAI bombs, they've already done a lot of work on MENext. Games have been junked despite having a lot of investment, but EA would probably try to salvage something from the investment.
