I'll screw around a bit in Inquisition at the start but once the story gets in full swing, it's too hard to peel myself away from it to go dick around in a cave for two hours, I need to finish the story, the cave will still be there on my next Inquisitor.

In playthroughs other than the first it's all about the pacing for me, when I do the Mass Effect trilogy it's all down to a science doing quests that belong ahead of other ones and saving certain ones til later.  Soon I'll have Inquisition down to a science as well.

I'm a Completionist. Once a map is unlocked I will scour it of all it's secrets and resources before moving on. Unless I don't like a game, in which case I'll stick to the main story and ignore all the side stuff.

I always take it slow and easy. Explore every inch of the world.  Make rounds to every companion and advisor after every quest to see if there is new dialogue.  Never do two main story quests in a row.  Never exhaust too much of a character's dialogue at once - though I hope the game will have innate dialogue pacing so this won't be an issue.  My first playthrough tends to be my longest just because I'm exploring and discovering everything for the first time.

I already have a line of three playthroughs planned out, so RP'ing those is going to help me pace my playthroughs and keep myself consistent. To wit:

First playthrough: Curious Mage who wants to see everything he can in the world, wants to make as many allies as he can, an idealist who's probably more trusting than he should be. This playthrough will be slower, both because I'll want to drink the game in and because my Inquisitor will be curious, unsure, and inexperienced.

Second playthrough: more worldly Dalish Mage, who will prioritize certain things, to reflect my expanded game knowledge. That will probably make my playstyle more economic, targeted thorough, and exacting

Third playthrough: nigh-omniscient Qunari mage who will conquer the planet with nary a misstep. As close to a speed-run efficiency playthrough as I'll ever get in a Bioware game, just to see if I've learned anything over two runs

So if each run is as different from the others as I think it will be, that should keep all of them fresh in their own way. But if left to my own devices, I tend to be like TDKR and scour obsessively for loot and junk to sell for gold.

First play through will be a mess and most likely fast, just to get the inner "squeeeeeeee, OMG its awesome" fangirl out of my system.  Then the actual proper plays will then start, 3 cannon (one for each archetype) and then more than likely a few more just to see everything.

For three days, I'm going to do nothing but DAI, so I can play Pokémon when it comes out.

Reeeally hope work doesn't need me that week.
