It's either a smart calculation, or incredibly short sighted. Gee, you think the time when people would decide to be the biggest d-bags might be the weekend before release? You know, when the pirates inevitably crawl out of the woodwork and the odd person who gets it early is tempted to test his anti social forum skills? And considering that moderating an on line forum is incredibly easy and can be done from most anywhere, and that it doesn't require a highly paid person with immense skill, just someone who is diligent and has the time to keep patrolling the threads, I really WANT to believe the OP's suggestion is true. Otherwise, frankly, it is just stupid.

One of these guys posted a screenshot of a Windows folder with Mass Effect 2 files but they were last modified in 2009 so that was crap.

Well, it was said the game went gold sometime just before Christmas, so yeah, the files would have last been modified in 2009.

The reason people spoil deliberatly is because they want attention and to laugh at our reactions. Just ignore them and they will go away just wait and see.
