Hi everyone,

This is my first post here.

I've been playing ME3 multiplayer for a while now (xbox 360).

Things that I'm used to :

- I always wait for the host to be ready before clicking green (matter of respect)

- I most of the time wait for everyone to be ready before clicking green (sometimes I'm more eager to start...)

- I try to NEVER steal other's killings (except if my team mates are in a bad position, or sometimes it can happen involuntarily)

- When I play Volus, I mostly spend my time reloading my team mates ' shields

- At the beginning of a mission, I very often say 'hello' to my partners with a heavy melee (I don't have a microphone)

- When someone's dead, I try to run and revive him / her (don't care about the 'first aid medal' though)

- In hacking and drone missions, I'm helping 95 % of the time (the other 5 %, I'm levelling up my killing ratio, mea culpa)

- Plus other things I find "normal" that keep the game enjoyable for everyone

Yesterday, after some connectivity bug, I became the host and found myself with only one other player. My character was an alliance infiltrator (quite weak in terms of armor) equipped with a phalanx and a black widow. Then, when the wave started, it appeared it was a "package mission". The problem was that I was at the other side of the map, surrounded by enemies. I couldn't run through them, so I started to kill... My partner was next to the package, but he suddenly disconnected and gave me a bad evaluation on my profile - I'm sure it was him (no mention to explain his opinion).

So my questions are :

- have you already experienced the same ?

- what will be the consequences on my gaming ? Will I be more often avoided by other players ? (my ratio is now 1 + / 2 - ; all on ME, the second negative is due to some invitation from a fresh new friend I didn't answer immediately because I was in the middle of a game and didn't want to lose my stats --> he labelled me as "deloyal"; and the only positive one was because I congratulated someone who had outstripped me in the ranking)

PS : I never give any misjudgment on profiles (neither to the noobs who continually keep stealing my killings), and I sometimes give positive evaluations.

Sorry if my English doesn't fit the standards, French speaking :)

Thanks for your replies ;)

Of course I am...

I'm 33, father of two, got a job and so on... I only play to have fun when the children sleep, so I'm trying to be respectful with other players.

Ahh, okey then! Stealing kills is very bad, you should never do that man because people need their kills in order to get challenge points! If you have a lot of challenge points then you are a better player than a person with fewer challenge points.

Also, it is good practice to wait for about 5 minutes before getting ready in a lobby.

I don't know why someone would get angry just because you were on the other side of the map shooting enemies during a pizza delivery, I mean, that's just helping your teammate isn't it?

I totally agree.

When I was a noob (2 years ago), I was used to stealing kills  (I dind't know it was a bad habit), then I changed my way of playing after reading posts on forums, that is why I'm patient with noobs who act this way :D

Yeah, sounds like those 2 years really taught you how to become a good team player  :)

Stealing kills is really frowned upon, and I have lost a lot of friends because I stole their kills in this co-op game just because I had not idea about how much individual kills mattered in the challenge points system. I know better these days so now I usually just play a Volus and heal people instead of actually killing things  :)

Looks like a plan.

I can't comment on the politics of the xbox rating or friends or whatever that positive negative thing is.

Yep, I don't get their view... If you don't please a 12 yo buddy, he can misjudge you (some have had this experience on COD - but I don't play it)

ME3 is basically the only multiplayer game that I have played, and so far 55% of the people I've played with has avoided me and gave me a bad review.

7% Trash talk

2 % Language

0% Disruptive

4% Aggressive

64% Unsporting

2% Quit Early

Out of 79% (where the heck did the other 21% go?) 64% sent a review saying I was unsporting. That happens on Xbox when you run around killing everything and top the scoreboard with 2-3 times the other 3 players score. Go figure.

That'll be people giving skill based reviews.

"too good", "too bad", and "didn't understand the game" reviews aren't shown to the guy getting them.

Ok, I'll bite. I'm gullible.

There are several things in your post that go against BSN "norms" so robertlilja is teasing you. Killstealing is not considered a big deal around here.

As far a your main question, I can't say how a negative gamerscore will affect you since I'm on PC and we don't have that. Probably it won't affect you yet since it's not that negative. However, your playstyle seems geared to get you more negative ratings.

If you are an infiltrator and are alone with one other player during a pizza mission you should cloak, get away from the enemies and go to help your teammate. Failing that, at the very least you should keep the enemies' attention WITHOUT killing them. By killing the enemies who are far from the pizza, you're just making them respawn close to your teammate who is struggling to deliver it. And every time you cloak you're directing their attention onto your teammate. So you just made life much harder for him for your own convenience/score. That's why he ragequit, which is a perfectly reasonable thing for  him to have done.

Some comments -

(1) I've never heard of waiting for the host to be ready.  If anything, the host should ready up first.

(2) Don't wait for others to be ready, click the green button when you are ready otherwise the whole lobby could end up waiting for each other.

(3) Kill-stealing is bad except if it is a possessed abomination near your team-mate(s) in which case you should kill it quickly before it can grab your team-mate.

(4) Shield Boost spamming is one of the more annoying things you can do.  There are only a few instances when you should reload your team-mates' shields - when they have just been revived, during hacking or escort objectives and when you know their shields are down (for example, after a Scion carpet bombing).

Negative reviews are a good thing. The people who dislike your style don't get matched to play with you again. It's win-win!

This thread is weird, it looks like dumdum answering to his own alternate account :D !

But I will assume that you're not trolling OP and answer to some of your questions for, let's say, french solidarity :

- kill stealing doesn't exist. Ennemies don't belong to anybody, try to kill as many of them as you can, without being preoccupied about who has engaged them first ;

- a volus isn't supposed to spend the whole match following his teammates to restore their shields, nor a Juggernaut occupy bosses or an infiltrator doing all the revives because he can become invisible. Use Shield Boost uppermost for you, during hacks, escorts, and when you know that a teammate has lost his shields ;

- if everybody wait for the others to click green, well, you will spend a lot of time in the lobby  ;)  ! It is not disrespectful to click before the host. However, it's cool to wait for a teammate who is still preparing his character.

(1) I know, but... well It's kind from him to share his connection (mine bugs sometimes)

(2) I click green to say I'm ready, then red to wait for the others

(3) I use kill-stealing to help

(4) And, yes, I boost shields only when I know theirs are damaged

But I'll adopt marksmad's pov : i won't meet 'm anymore (was just wondering whether I'd get put apart from the other players - I don't really use this reputation thing)
