Hi!

 

I'm playing Raiders of the lost tomes right now and I like it very much so far.

Since the old nwn vault is down I'll ask for advice here.

 

Right now I'm at chapter 2 and I'm stuck. Can't figure out how to solve the chess puzzle.

I'm not that bright but I think I understand that you are supposed to drop the chess queens

on different squares in different rooms. I got the book from the gnome woman and I've 

talked to Mara that said she had made a map. But when I ask her to let me check her 

map nothing happens. Can anybody help? I would so like to continue this module series

but the puzzles are quite hard I must say. I managed to get through chapter 1, which also

had a puzzle I didn't understand, but by mere coincidence I managed to get through

that one.

Sadly, it doesn't help. I've already checked that. Maybe if I could see all the pages with comments from the community it might have helped but only the first page works.

The solution seems to be to ask Derek (an intelligent companion) to solve it for you if you have all of the pieces.

I'm sorry to say though that there is something wrong with this module/campaign, since now when after placing two queens in what I think to be the correct places, and then save when I come to a new area, the game always crashes. I've had no such problems with other modules so I think I'll have to give up on this campaign...quite sad really...

Yeah, asking Derek should work...if it's still crashing, but you can get back to town, you could debug mode yourself the tome...

You can then skip chapter 2 (once you bring the book to the gnome).  The rest is less repetitive and less of a resource hog.

 

I had some stuff (Makeover for OC) loaded when I started making this mod, and it looks for those resources, which may be part of the issue.  Later puzzles are MUCH better than Chapter 2 anyway.

I managed to get all the queens on their correct places and I managed to get to town and give the gnome woman the book, but then the game autosaves and crashes.

 

Will trying the debug thing make me advance to chapter 3 or is there any other way to get to chapter 3?

Tried the debugmode. And I think it worked. I'm now at chapter 3. However, I don't know where to find the Barrow Mound. There seems to be 2 area transitions, one to the north and one to the south. In the north the game just ask "where do you want to travel" and nothing happens (you can't choose anything) but in the south I could go to the graveyard (I talked to the priest that wanted me to look for someone and that got me a sidequest). I hope the area transition thing in the north is not a bug but a logical thing, that I'm not supposed to go there yet.

hmm...not sure, it's been a while.  I think you have to have Derek reply to get to the mound (party mode, just click his face I think)
