The Alliance feels a bit generic

I'm not really bothered about not seeing a wide variety in the Alliance. It's hard to pull off without it feeling like tokenism and I generally don't find it too hard to deal with fictional supposedly planet-wide or species-wide organisations being somewhat biased towards wherever the series is created.

In the first game, the alliance is a bit more believable, though I see several of their inefficiencies and limitations first hand. It wasn't a necessarily killer view of them in my eyes, but I did see them coming into play as a group that would be bogged down by limitations and inability to play politics.

ME2 is what made me despise the alliance. Condemning the person who saved them to satiate the Council and become a lapdog for them. And the VS's remarks on Horizon are what made me absolutely come disgust with them. They'd rather see an opponent as untrue and focus on the red herring because they don't like them or the way they do things.

ME3 cemented that disgust, with the hamfisted and over-the-top pro-alliance attitude that was forced on Shepard, making them look like the heroes and good fighters all the time. It was a white-wash.

I would have preferred it if over the course of the 3 games we met more recognisable characters from the Alliance who played reoccurring roles through out the trilogy. Between ME1, ME2 and ME3 we do meet quite a few Alliance Admirals but for the love of god the only ones that I remember on sight are Admiral Hackett and Admiral Anderson. Despite the fact that the Alliance features in all 3 games it never really stands out as having any real presence in the series. I associate Anderson more with his role as the a Human Councillor ( because that's what he is in all my playthroughs ) and Shepard more with being a Spectre than an Alliance Soldier so it's left to Hackett to carry the whole entire Alliance by himself, he is the most visible thing about the Alliance. All of the other Alliance soldiers and officers you meet throughout the series have very generic character designs ( created by the mediocre character creator) and forgettable names. All Alliance ships look the same and we never had an opportunity the heart of the Alliance, Arcturus Station so yes I agree, the Alliance is a bit generic.

I am somewhat hoping we play as a person who isn't part of the Alliance, I tend to get tired of old war relics like Anderson and Hackett.

I like the Systems Alliance because I like the idea that humanity is working together instead of killing itself. I would have changed their flag, name and colors, though. Their flag reminds me of the Star Fleet logo from Star Trek. I know Mass Effect tries to make many references to things, but the Alliance should have its own theme. The flag would be a half of Earth shaded in violet with stars above it. The violet would represent all the human life not forgotten and that it took to reach a humanity that works together. Also the name seems kind of tastless... the Systems... Alliance... I would call it the Human Alliance or United Human Alliance... well maybe something better. Systems just does not seem to capture a human feel to me.

I'd like to see a bit more human seperatism from the Alliance, Ceberus somewhat does this but because they come across as racist, human supremacists who are Reaper pawns and everything they stand for is wrong, makes me disqualify them. I want to compare to a country not wanting to be part of the E.U or any other political union and takes action to make sure that happens.

There's still warring countries back on Earth during Mass Effect. It's sort of like a space UN, where it represents and it supported by the various colonies and countries but does not rule over them.

They aren't racist, they aren't human supremacist, and if everything they stood for was wrong, you'd be outright opposed to everything the alliance ever did, or anything humanity ever does.

I think Cerberus was probably the best show for a large-scale organization. Granted, I'd rather see Cerberus as the puppet-master behind the alliance.

I kinda wish there were ships that represented countries in terms of their design, kind of like the jaegers of Pacific Rim.

By far the best 'stupid' movie I've seen in ages. I was shocked by how much I enjoyed it. I hope they avoid the temptation to do a sequel, but it's inevitable and it won't have half the magic of the first.
