8-7 last week; my worst week by far. Let's see if I can recover:
NE over NYJ: I think this game might be lower scoring than people expect, especially if Bryan Stork and Dan Connolly can't play, but it won't be close because of the Jets' offensive ineptitude.
Buffalo over Minnesota: Yeah, I'm done with the Vikings. The Bills defense should be able to shut them down.
Chicago over Miami: Tough call, but I'll go with the home team that has more offensive talent.
Detroit over New Orleans: Haven't been giving the Lions' D enough credit; they're #1 in defensive DVOA.
Green Bay over Carolina: Another tough game, but rolling with Rodgers hasn't let me down in the last three weeks.
Indianapolis over Cincinatti: The toughest game to call out of any; I've got growing doubts about Cincinatti's ability to rush the passer, which is not what you want against what looks to be a very strong passing offense (Luck leads the league in yards).
Washington over Tennessee: Tennessee just barely won against the Jaguars, while Washington hung in there against the Cardinals' strong D. Probably an overreaction to one week, but the Titans have done nothing all season to make me doubt that reaction.
Cleveland over Jacksonville: Could be a trap game for the Browns, but I can't pick the Jags in good faith.
Baltimore over Atlanta: The Falcons can't stop the run, can't stop the pass, and can't protect Matt Ryan.
San Diego over Kansas City: I'm going with Rivers to continue his MVP-caliber run.
Dallas over NYG: Probably gave the Giants too much credit because of Eli and Tom Coughlin's championship pedigree; their wins are over bad teams, and they just lost one of their best players in gruesome fashion.
Arizona over Oakland: Not much to say here.
Denver over San Francisco: I think these are both really good teams, but I think Denver has too many offensive pieces for SF to stop all at once.
Houston over Pittsburgh: Giving a very slight edge to the Texans, especially if Clowney plays.
At halftime, Patriots 17-12 over the Jets. All Jets points from FG's.
New England 27-25 over the Jets. Jets had a chance to win the game with a FG with only 8 seconds left, but the kick was blocked
I'm going to add a bit more about the Patriots and Tom Brady, since this is Tom Brady's 200th regular season NFL game. Coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady came to the New England Patriots in the year 2000. Bill Belichick turned down the head coaching position for the New York Jets to become the New England Patriot's head coach.(that is only one chapter in the very long rivalry between the Jets and the Patriots) New England went on to win the superbowl in the years 2001, 2003 and 2004. They are the last team to win the superbowl twice in a row. Today, 10 years later, they are a shadow of what they were in 2004. Soon they will continue on with the careful task of drafting and mentoring the new talent that will determine if they can reach for the stars again in some future year.
For now, they are trying to maintain respect, I think. The team's talent has been riddled with injuries:

I remember thinking at the end of the second quarter that the patriots looked tired. The Jets, not so much.
The fact that this win was so close, over such a weak rival, speaks volumes. The Patriots are going to be on shaky ground for a while.
Tom Brady, twice a superbowl MPV and twice an NFL MVP, can look back on his career with satisfaction.
http://www.patriots....eb-d7eb2227f726
I think he should retire after this season. 37 is old in football years, and he can't do what he did 10 years ago.
But who knows? There are a few NFL quarterbacks who have played into their 40s.

I am going to have to say they haven`t won the SB since they got caught in Spygate ![]()
just watched a replay of the Pats - Jets game, Amendola's catch for 26-19 was one of the prettiest things ive ever seen ![]()
The Seahawks lost to St. Louis. I feel the pain.
Do better next time guys....
Here are the scores so far for Sunday 10/19:
St. Louis Rams beat Seattle Seahawks, 28 to 26 (Still trying to wrap my brain around that...)
Baltimore Ravens beat Atlanta Falcons, 29 to 7
Washington Redskins beat Tennessee Titans, 19 to 17
Jacksonville Jaguars beat Cleveland Browns, 24 to 6 (Jaguars first win of the season.)
Indianapolis Colts beat Cincinnati Bengals, 27 to 0
Buffalo Bill beat Minnesota Vikings, 17 to 16
Miami Dolphins beat Chicago Bears, 27 to 14
Detroit Lions beat New Orleans Saints, 24 to 23
Green Bay Packers beat Carolina Panthers, 38 to 17 (Smoke and Mirror is going to be doing a Packers happy dance again.
)
Very surprised the Rams beat Seattle.
I'm upset that Carolina didn't put up a better fight against Green Bay. They looked bad. That defense needs to pull their heads out of their fifth point of contact. The offense didn't do much better. Carolina is going to have to play a lot better if they want to beat Seattle next week in Charlotte
The Cowboys are rolling. Their running back, Murray, became the first NFL running back in NFL history to rush for over 100 yards in the first 7 games of the season
I predict that Manning will throw for 3 touchdowns in tonights game against the 49er's to pass Brett Farve as throwing the most touchdowns by a quarterback in the NFL
I am going to have to say they haven`t won the SB since they got caught in Spygate
Denver beats San Fran 42-17
Stellar win by the Pack. Any team can win in a blowout on the right day, but Green Bay played sound football at every level. Can't think of a single area that was sub-par today, other than a Lacy fumble. Good news for Carolina is that their division is still wide-open and Cam alone keeps them in the race, but with all the talent they lost on defense last offseason, they cannot afford more undisciplined play on that side of the ball.
Nothing else really stands out at me this week, except Washington's QB situation is really sad.
10-3 so far; nice bounce back for me after a rough previous week.
@HYR 2.0
No doubt about Washington's QB situation; Cousins is a turnover machine, and with Griffin's injury history, I'm not sure how willing the organization will be to invest in him as their starter for the indefinite future. He's a high-risk (though high-reward) proposition at this point.
@katiefrost:
Spygate notwithstanding, you can make a stronger case for Belichick as best all-time coach than most people might think, although I'd probably still give the title to Lombardi. Belichick accumulated his wins and Super Bowl rings in the post-salary cap era; the 70s-era Steelers and the 80s 49ers didn't have to make decisions like cutting Lynn Swann to keep John Stallworth, or trading Roger Craig so they could afford to pay Jerry Rice. Belichick's Patriots couldn't just stockpile all of the league's best talent, which makes his winning percentage and Super Bowl pedigree all the more impressive.
Steelers beat the Texans 30-23. Steelers scored 23 points in the 2nd quarter in their win over Houston.
Here's the week 7 final score, Monday 10/20 ____ Pittsburgh Steelers over Houston Texans, 30 to 23
Week 8 schedule: http://www.nfl.com/schedules/2014/REG8
I'm going to mull over my choices tonight, I only had 9-6 last week. ![]()
I am still in shock over Seattle's loss to St. Louis Sunday. I'll have to say the Rams played a very smart game. That high risk, fake punt late in the game to keep the ball away from Russell Wilson was brilliant. They knew if Wilson got the ball back it would over for them. Hence, the risk.
What happen during the second quarter was also very cunning on their part. (Osbornep would be better at explaining this) Rams players retreated to one corner of the field following a punt by John Ryan, drawing the Seahawk's punt coverage into a trap. In reality, Ryan's punt had gone to the opposite side of the field...
Cunning rogues, those Rams.
I will always choose Seattle out of loyalty. And, we certainly don't have quarterback problems. Russell Wilson threw for 300 yards and rushed for 100 yards in the same game, a personal NFL record. But it wasn't enough last Sunday. They need to play smarter as well as fast and strong.
Went 9-6 for last week
Thursday
San Diego over Denver Got to go with Philip Rivers. I watched him play at NC State
Sunday
Detroit over Atlanta
KC over Rams
Houston over Titans
Tampa over Vikings
Carolina over Seattle - Panthers are my team and I can't go against them. In order for them to win, the defense needs to pull their socks up and not allow any big plays or mistackles. The offense, especially the receivers, need to put in a better performance then what they've done in the past few weeks. And like with every game avoid stupid penalties and turnovers.
Ravens over Bengals
Miami over Jacksonville
Bears over Patriots
Jets over Bills
Eagles over Cardinals
Raiders over Browns
Colts over Steelers
Saints over Packers - I believe Drew Bress will have a big game
Monday Night
Dallas over Washington
Le'Veon Bell!!! Did just enough yesterday to win me $90.
Last week: 11-4. Lots of tough ones this week.
[Primetime]
Broncos over Chargers. Very even match up, I'll go with the home team.
[Sunday]
Lions over Falcons. Lock of the week IMO. Then again, Lions do like to lose these kinds of gimmes. Hmm...
Chiefs over Rams. Congrats to St. Louis in their win over Seattle, but special teams will only win you so many.
Texans over Titans. So long as Amish Rifle keeps mistakes to a minimum, Houston should get the W here.
Bucs over Vikings. Tough call, but the Bucs should get some issues sorted out after the bye, and are at home for this one.
Seahawks over Panthers. Can't see the defending Superbowl champs losing three straight.
Bengals over Ravens. Inconsistent Flacco is due for a down game, and Cincy needs this one.
Dolphins over Jaguars. 'Fins D should give the rookie QB fits.
Pats over Bears. Brady should shred that secondary.
Jets over Bills. Jets can shut down the run. Can Orton win it for them? Solid though he's been, I don't see it.
Cards over Eagles. Hot hand at home, or talented team off a bye? Another tough one ... I'll go with momentum.
Browns over Raiders. Want to give one to OAK, but their defense is a sieve. If the RBs get going again, CLE should rebound.
Colts over Steelers. Luck is doing work right now. PIT seems ill-equipped to stop him.
Packers over Saints. Not selling NO short -- at home, in just about a do-or-die situation -- but In Rodge We Trust. GB in a shoot-out.
[Monday]
Cowboys over Redskins. Orakpo out for the season? Yeah, 'skins are done.
I went 9 - 6 last week ![]()
