Here are my picks for next week:

Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots - PATRIOTS

Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks - SEAHAWKS

Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers - PACKERS

Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos - BRONCOS

Yep, those would be my picks as well. 'Had to think twice about the AFC games but I'd be pretty shocked if it's not Pats/Broncos redux for AFCCG.

The most surprising result for me was the Ravens over the Steelers. Pittsburgh missed Le'Veon Bell more than I thought they would; on Big Ben's critical 4th quarter interception, just-signed running back Ben Tate badly missed a blocking assignment which led to Ben getting hit as he threw. The Ravens were able to get consistent pressure, and as a result the Steelers' passing attack wasn't able to exploit Baltimore's inexperienced secondary the way I thought they would. With all that out of the way, I'll go ahead and make picks for the divisional round:

Patriots over Ravens: I'm making this pick because I think the Pats are a more complete team overall, but one thing that does scare me is this: While Tom Brady has had a generally excellent season, he's only averaged 7.1 yards per attempt this season, a barely above-average number. Not sure that's the best way to attack the Ravens.

Broncos over Colts: What the Colts did to a Bengals offense lacking its best weapons doesn't impress me all that much (although shutting down Jeremy Hill after the first quarter is a legitimate accomplishment). I don't think the Colts are a team, defensively speaking, that's up to the task of stopping Manning and company.

Seahawks over Panthers: Yes, holding a team to 78 yards is nice, but Ryan Lindley might have been the least qualified quarterback ever to start a playoff game in NFL history; he's that bad. Cam Newton needs to play much better than he did against the Cardinals to have any chance, and against the Seahawks, it's probably too much to ask.

Cowboys over Packers: I'm certainly rooting for the Packers (not a Dallas fan), but I'm going with the team that I think has more ways of winning this game. Green Bay doesn't have the defensive line that Detroit has, so I think Dallas will be able to have success running or throwing, whereas the Packers must rely on Rodgers having a big day. Obviously that's well within the realm of possibility for Rodgers (who has thrown 226 TD's to 57 INT's for a career), but with the Cowboys running the football the way they do, he may not be on the field long enough to make the difference in the game.

Patriots - because i still believe in Tom Brady :D

Seahawks - because its the Panthers

Cowboys - because i really like the Triplets

Colts - Luck already took Peyton's single season passing record, now its time to toss him out of the playoffs

you know what, ill even go a couple of rounds further

Patriots over Colts

Cowboys over Seahawks

Patriots over Cowboys

Here's my picks

Ravens over New England  Ravens win 16 - 9

Carolina over Seattle  Panthers win  23 - 13. The Panthers came close to beating them in their first meeting and with their defense doing well in the last few games, they will get their revenge and advance to the NFC Championship game

Dallas over Green Bay Dallas wins 27 -24  If the Dallas defense is able to pressure Rogers throughout the game, they may win by a larger margin

Denver over Colts. Broncos win 38 - 17.

As I posted earlier in the thread

Carolina at Dallas for NFC championship game

Baltimore at Denver for AFC championship game

Carolina vs Baltimore in the Super Bowl. Carolina wins

If Dallas beats Carolina, I will go with Dallas winning the super bowl

Patriots: While Joe Flacco is now making a career on being an exponentially better QB the further in the season he gets, I still don't think New England will fail at eliminating the options for Baltimore. And with the Ravens D being not nearly as menacing since Ray Lewis left after their Superobowl win two years ago, I see the Pats squeaking by a nail biter on this.

Broncos: If this was only a matchup of QBs, I'd be hard on the fence on a Luck Vs. Peyton question. But Indy's defense just isn't tight enough to make the Brocno's sweat all that much, leaving the gate wide open for a strong second half lead before the dust settles.

Seahawks: Sherman and the brutally effective Seahawks D will make short work of the Panthers offense, leaving Newton scrambling out of the pocket on nearly every play. Seattle is my top pick to repeat a Super Bowl appearance (if not a trophy).

Packers: Green Bay has far too many talented receivers for Rodgers to throw to for Dallas to shut them down like they did Stafford and Megatron yesterday. Dallas is famous for falling apart in the post season - I feel this trend will continue unabated.

If you go by team efficiency (I don't have an opinion on it one way or the other as a stat) Baltimore and New England are basically even, but I'd still give the edge to New England as the home team.

My picks after tipping 3- 1 last week

Balt    i`ll go for the upset , the Ravens mugged Big Ben last week and if they can get Brady they will win again .

Den  i don`t know how far Luck can carry this team , they will need to play well on the D side of the ball .

Sea   this one might be an old time game with two defenses keeping the score low into the 4 quarter .

GB I still don`t know how the Lions lost that game :o it might be the offense who has the ball last wins .

Speaking of weather, Green Bay fans are going to love this trailer.  Instead of "Winterfell", it's "Winter fell upon Lambeau".
http://www.nfl.com/v...wap_generic_nfl
There are some good trailers for the other teams too, the Broncos trailer has a "Godfather" theme, the Seahawks trailer is titled, "Carroll's Twelve".

Please, nobody hate the Seahawks and fans if we win again this season... That said, there are so many really good teams this year, who knows what will happen?

Funny: GRRM is an NFL fan too. http://grrm.livejournal.com/
Maybe when the Super Bowl is over, he'll get back to finishing,"The Winds of Winter".

In terms of personal investment, I was going Bengals first (whoops), now the Colts (we'll see how long that lasts), and right after that is the Seahawks. I really like them as a franchise, team and a fan base. D-heavy teams have always been my favorite to watch, the management for the team has been amazing to watch evolve over the past five years and the fan base has a reputation for overwhelming opposing teams with their enthusiasm - that's nothing if not impressive.

Plus me liking Wilson and Sherman's personalities doesn't hurt.

For Baltimore I would say they need to improve their tackling. They had a couple of mistackles in the 1st half that led to 1st down and a touchdown for New England

For New England, they need to stop the running game of Baltimore.  Baltimore is picking up chunks of yardage from their running back

As mentioned above, Baltimore leads New England 21-14 at halftime. Go Ravens.

Brady made an uncharacteristicly bad throw there at the end. We'll see if he comes out in the second half with intensity.

Ravens 28 to Patriots 14 .... Still plenty of time for the Pats to turn it around, though. I'm assuming nothing at this point.
