Every character in Dragon Age elicits hate from some group.

 

When I first created the Morrigan thread on here, about the first 10-20 posts were by people saying that they wanted to kill her.

 

I never wanted to kill Morrigan just because she is dumb. The only character I actually want to kill is Hawke for being more useless than Lloyd the bartender. I remind that killing Lloyd it was the only time Wynne liked one of my killing actions on my first run (she neither liked me lying to a Demon while recruiting Shale), so even Wynne would consider it "taking out the trash".

making our heroes(especially this is stupid for mages and elfs, dwarves, kossith) as "Herald of Andraste" is another big mistake of devs as making such characters as Cullen, Lelianna, Cassandra, Vivienne our forced advisors and companions...and their words that "we are not related to the Orlais chantry" is not make sense

 

about Andraste was a "good person" its a lie..she is no different that ancient elf-blooded humans who with help of Old Gods conquer Thedas

 

Andraste was a powerfull somniary mage who take controll(via blood magic or somniary powers but she do this) over Maferat(she even do this with angry wyvern) and other barbarian chiefs and conquer south Thedas and after that she wanted to conquer north but was stoped by Tevinters

 

and Andraste does not free Tevinter elves(and she is not fight against slavery of barbarians), they officially do this by themselfs and by this help in Andraste conquering but this does not change anything..even weakened because slave rebellion Tevinter defeated Andraste and after her execution all her forces was torn apart

 

she claim herself as a wife of the new and "true god and creator of Thedas and fade" as "The Maker" who was never seen or heard exept Andraste and much later by Hessarian who see executed Andraste in fade and heard maker...

 

"The Maker" is another theme, but he is 100% no more than

 

1)a simple lie, her crazy fantasy

 

2)some kind of desire deamon what is possible can be even "created" by Andraste dreams of such god who much later answer her

 

3)someone like Corinfeus who use her to take revenge on Tevinters who abandon worchip and slay their "gods"

 

4)some of ancient dragons(some of the old gods or others)  who use her to take revenge on Tevinters  and slay their "gods"

 

many does not and never will like the idea of being "herald of Andraste/Maker/Orlais ChantryTemplars/Seekers/"...

You havnt been to the Herald of Andraste thred. hatred for andraste and chantry at its finest....with cookies

You haven't been here long if you think that tiny thread and it's comments are even a drop in the bucket of what every other character has been talked about/hated on. Odds are it won't even keep going for more than a few more days, it's jjust fresh and new from the trailer.

 

Also, hatred of chantry is not the same thing as hatred of andraste. And "I want to burn the chantry" is not the same thing as "I want to kill andraste".

 

Basically OP is for some reason reading a tiny fraction of posts between a few people and acting as if it's huge when really, it isn't. OP is just being silly.

entire Chant of light(even Orlais version) is proof of that...and she officially was a dreamer mage by Tevinters who is orthodox Andrastians in Thedas sinse Hesarian much before Seekers, Orlais and their Orlais Chantry which version of the Chant of light  is the most youngest in Thedas

We cant see the maker just like we cant see radiation. But now theres a tool to see radiation. So aslong as such a tool is not discovered in DA, the maker will be non existent.

Also back on topic alot of the hate should stem from the more obnoxious followers of the religion, yunno the loudest and most aggressive that come with many other religions. Extremists from any religion suck, those people aren't pleasant to be around, nobody like zealots.

I like Zealots, I want to play a Dalish Zealot when I do my elf playthrough. I hope I'll be allowed to say "ahah no I am the herald of the doom of human dominion over my much much superior religion!"

 

And my templar zealot playthrough will be deathtastic.

This isn't the Morrigan thread, so I don't want to get too off-topic, but her behavior throughout the Redcliff questline was pretty dumb.  We were there to get help from the townspeople and recruit soldiers for the army but she resisted the idea of helping them at every turn... and guess what? If you let the village burn as she suggests, you lose access to quest givers, shops, loot, and exp...  and you gain... nothing.

 

She also thought it was a good idea for a group of wannabe adventurers fresh out of the Koccari Wilds to attack the Hero of River Dane directly... lol... chaotic stupid at its finest.

When i saved the little girl in Honnleath from the desire demon, she got a -3 approval. That was just....meh.

I think allot of people are misunderstanding this. Some people view you as the "herald of Andraste" because of your power to close fade tears and possibly other reasons we don't know about yet. That doesn't mean you actually are, your inquisitor can even claim not to be and be like "wtf are you talking about?". 

 

You don't have to support the Chantry and are actually in a sort of opposition to them. That doesn't mean Andrastian characters and people who are or were once associates with the Chantry wont support your cause. Remember that it was the original Inquisition that formed the Seekers, the Circle and the Templars and all of those groups are already separated from the Chantry.

Andraste is a zealot. David Gaider compares her to Joan of Arc in World of Thedas.

Did you read anything about Joan of Arc. She was practically the shining light in the Frank's darkest hour. Calling her a zealot is completely unfair.

I must admit that I'm one of the bad ones here. Even though I play as characters that aren't just versions of myself, my feelings for religion do always seem to seep through. I did make my origins noble a good little andrastian though. She was the only one who made sense to.
The dalish and dwarven beliefs don't bother me because they aren't pushed on you wherever you go. I also find them more fantasy, whereas the whole Maker business more reflective on reality.

I'm not about to go setting the game on fire though. I can't imagine any andraste based storyline making me that mad. It's the chantry I hate, not her. It would have to be Battlestar Galactica finale levels of terrible for me to fetch the matches, and that kind of terrible is usually reserved for sci fi.
