I don't mean to spam the forum with an individual concern, but I was wondering if the technologically adept could assist the terminally middle-aged.  I'm looking to buy a new laptop because the keyboard on my ASUS machine wore out after less than two years.  I obviously want a laptop that will play DA:I well, but will also manage to serve my gaming needs for a few years.

Does anyone mind giving me their opinion about the following specs?  This is what I could find for under $1000.

--Intel i7-4700HQ quadcore processor (2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz)

--8 GB DDR3L system memory

--NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M graphics card with 2 GB dedicated DDR3 memory

I don't want to start the time-honored and superflous discussion of desktop PCs vs laptops for gaming, but I'll have to squash your expectations on this one:

You will not get anything like that in a laptop unless you are really willing to put down money.

As to your first prospect:

This laptop has the priorities the wrong way around.

Games are largely GPU limited as opposed to CPU limited. So optimally you'd search for a laptop with a stronger GPU and can sacrifice CPU performance to some degree in that regard.

I'd generally advise that a decent i5 CPU is enough (though with mobile CPUs you likely have to go for the higher end i5s) and that you look for higher performant GPUs.
