The Story

Grim Dawn is an action role-playing game intended for digital distribution on the PC.
It is being developed by veterans of Iron Lore entertainment, the makers of Titan Quest.
Grim Dawn is being built with Crate's own improved version of the Iron Lore engine and
toolset; the same technology used to create Titan Quest. As a spiritual successor, Grim Dawn
will attempt to better perfect the magical formula of exploration, character advancement,
and loot collection pioneered by Diablo.

Players will be thrust into the dark, war-torn world of Cairn where a once proud empire
has been brought to ruin and the human race driven to the edge of extinction. Cairn has
become ground zero of an eternal war between two otherworldly powers, one seeking to
use human bodies as a resource, the other intent upon destroying the human race before
that can happen. This cataclysmic war has not only decimated human civilization but is
warping the very fabric of reality and, in its wake, giving life to new horrors.

For humankind it is the dawn of a grim new age where iron has replaced gold as currency
and the importance of salt as a weapon makes it far too valuable to waste on food. Small
enclaves of human survivors exist scattered throughout the world, holed up in hidden refuges.
These humans have quietly watched the warring invaders destroy one another and have
become wise to the strengths and vulnerabilities of their otherworldly foes. A few survivors
have begun to exhibit strange new abilities after surviving possession or exposure to
the warp. These unnatural powers are feared by some but give many new hope of launching
a resistance to fight the "outsiders" and reclaim what's left of their world.

About Iron Lore Entertainment

ILE Closes
Posted on Feb 27 2008

It is with great regret that we must announce that as of close of business Tuesday,
February 19, 2008 Iron Lore Entertainment has ceased active game development.
Several unrelated events occurred which resulted in Iron Lore being unable to secure
funding for its next project.

We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has helped us in the last seven
years – our team who moved mountains to create such great games, our publisher THQ
who has been a great partner through three product development cycles, and most of
all our customers and fans. We owe all of the success we've had to you, and our greatest
satisfaction has come from creating games that have given enjoyment to the community.

While Iron Lore will not continue, the talent of the team is embodied in the individuals
now available for other opportunities. If you are a developer or publisher looking to
hire top-notch experienced developers, please send an email to pchieffo "at" ironlore "dot"
com and we will be happy to facilitate recruiting with you.

Iron Lore also owns it's powerful and flexible engine and tool set, and is actively
pursuing licensing opportunities. If you are interested in further information about the
technology and licensing options, please contact pchieffo "at" ironlore "dot" com.

About Crate Entertainment

A while back a new game start up called Crate Entertainment revealed its presence.
Made up of former members of the now defunct Iron Lore developer (makers of Titan Quest)
the new company got the rights to use the technology developed by Iron Lore to make an
all new action-RPG.

Now the company has revealed the first details on that game, titled Grim Dawn.
The fantasy-themed game is set on the world of Cairn where two massive forces
are fighting each other with the human race caught in the middle. Grim Dawn is suppose
to give players access to five skill trees, a crafting system to make new item,
support for multiplayer and more. The game is still early in production
(there are no in-game screenshots yet) but Grim Dawn is currently set for a digital download
release for early 2011.

About Pre-order & Donation

Show Your Support!
We've gotten a surprising number of requests both through email and on the titanquest.net
forums from fans who wanted a way to donate to the project. We've started to believe
that perhaps Gabe Newell's idea of fan-funding isn't totally insane after all; well, at least
not for a smaller scope project like Grim Dawn. After crunching some numbers, it seems
possible that with your help, we may be able to complete Grim Dawn without the need
to seek publisher money. To that end, we've included a contribute section where you'll
be able to help fund Grim Dawn by placing an early "pre-order."

Glad the guys that made Titan Quest didn't give up. That is one great game.

I'll look  into it again at a later point to see if i can throw over some money.
