I want to play Inquisition, but I don't want to jump into the game without knowing the story of the first two games. Unfortunately, I no longer have a previous-gen console, and my laptop would explode if I tried installing the games on it. Is the wiki my best option?
Catching up on the first two games without actually playing them.

The wiki is a good place to start! Maybe youtube if something remains unclear? I think the Keep will also provide some background info, because not everyone who wants to use it will have recently played the games and may need to be reminded of who everyone was etc.

I believe they've said the Keep will also be a good way to catch up on the events of previous games, since there'll be some sort of explanation or context given to each decision you make.

I guess you could wait for the keep. It will have interactive HTML5 based story, where you get to choose the important choices that will carry over to the future dragon age games.
For e.g., How many times Alistair licked the lampost before the blight ended, or the amount of panty shots that Hawke got from Isabela after you recruited her etc.

Wait for the Dragon Age Keep - that will bring you up to speed.

Wiki first, then watch youtube videos. Then onto the keep once it goes into open beta (or you get an invite)

Your laptop could probably handle the first game but let's plays are a good option too especially if the person is funny
DA2 is easier to run than Origins.

DA2 is easier to run than Origins.
Origins had that crazy 'memory leak' issue that always got annoying. The longer you played the longer the load screens were. After a while you needed to restart the game just so you didn't have to wait 5 minutes going through a tavern door. But for sure Origins should be played.

Really? Weird! My laptop ran it fine but I didn't play it for very long (I already had several playthroughs on the xbox and preferred that version) so I didn't get far enough to encounter that
It was never fixed with a patch or anything?

It was somewhat helped with patches but never 'fixed' and if you play for more than 2 hours at a time you will likely start to notice it. The best way most people found to get past that problem is to just save, exit all the way to the desktop, then restart the game. Annoying for sure, but the PC version also came with lot's of mods so I usually prefer PC versions over consoles when mods are possible.

Mods are one of the reasons I'm planning to switch to PC full time ![]()

A bunch of monsters went RAAAAR
A king wouldn't listen to his general about who to ally with
The general retreated cause the monsters had way too much RAAAAR and he was fearful for the desire of allies so sacrificed the king for the "better" of the nation.
A couple Special RAAAAR screaming monster, killers survived the battle, united bunches of peeps and ultimately ousted the general
The monsters of RAAAAR were defeated and sent back into hiding. One of the RAAAAR monster slayers may have died, or not, depending on if they did the deed with a witch with a UBER RAAAAR MONSTER SOUL STEALING BABY FEEDING SPELL looking to have a superbabygod thing...
All was good for a short bit until RAAAAAR monsters came back under the guidance of a sentient intellectual RAAAR monster. Eventually the RAAAR slayers either kill or ally with the RAAAR monster, who may or may not have been singing "New York, New York"
The end of dragon age and awakenings as I know it. Never played through a couple of the DLC's

Why don't you just play them?
Come on...and your Laptop must be ancient (hell even my 5 year old machine (laptop - my desktop is newer) can run both games and it was not top of the line back then...)
Can't you play them at a friends or something? - I mean the games are a bargain by now (!) and the wiki does not give the whole picture (hell even YT does not get you everything...yes, it's a clear picture...but nothing beats playing the games....)
Well, your choice
- I still would want to have played them (maybe you can borrow a laptop from a friend?)
