Alright i just used a Maker's Sigh potion at level 5 alright whats the big deal? , well all together it showed me 12 points for my attributes. Ok I'm level 5 with 12 points ... 3+3+3+3=12 but I'm level 5 shouldn't I have 3 more points. ?
If I was level 4 and I had 12 points it would make sense but this doesn't at all , is this a glitch when using the Maker's sigh potion? did i lose 3 points or what?.
This is annoying but is must be said (Glitch?)

Possibly the three points from 1st lvl are already in place after CC, since characters do not start at 0 lvl?

You get 3 pts when you progress to level 2, then 3, then 4, then 5 = 4 level ups = 12 pts. The points you start with at level one aren't affected by Maker's sigh.
So ...Level 2 is sorta Level 1 , well great thats kinda an annoying system :/ well thanks for telling me i was worried i hit a bug or something.

Alright so I'm following this guide , so your telling me (just scroll down it will show a level up guide) i should ignore Level 1 and just use Level 2

other then putting 3 Points into magic i should ignore level 1 and just use level 2?

One begins at 1st lvl, so those pts should be set firmly; only gaining additional pts thereafter.

Yes, the first set of enemies ding Hawke, at which time the first 3 points get spent (at level 2). You don't spend points when you create the character, those are preset by your class. All you're doing is picking his/her physical appearance, class, character portrait and which Origins save to import. The first time you spend points and pick talents is at level 2, when you ding right after the first fight.
So 3@2, 3@3, 3@4 and 3@ 5 equals 12 points spent, 12 points available to retrain to something else.
Have fun with it.
