Not to be rude but *edit: rudeness removed*
You know we can roll a qunari, and take her and Iron Bull in our party. Its the Quninquisition. Horny people coming through.
Perhaps she is Indian.. I mean the Indian Indian not the Americans... We have extremely long flowing straight black hair and hey... we are black too.. ![]()
Problem Solved.
Not every black person on this earth is from Africa / US.
That's not a good choice of words its almost a racist and stereotypical women in my family have hair and its not always nappy either.1 black people are black people, stop westernizing them
2 black people's hair is nappy, they can't grow long flowing hair naturaly

Spoiler
Finally! I've been telling this to People all the Time, but they wouldn't listen.
You'll be triply traumatized because Iron Bull and Solas are also shaved bald.
hahaha well bald is one thing but back then u didn't have shaving devices other than your regular blade... or do you think she might end up using magic for that one... the smell of burning hair in my keep.... ew hehe

Solas and IB are both shaved as well, neither is old enough to be completely bald naturally.
So it's the fact that they didn't have shaving devices that traumatized you? Good to know! Hairy legs and armpits for everyone!
"African American" Shaman...lol. Guys, srs.
Anyway,
@Ghost,
On the contrary, "naturally" is actually the most beneficial method for a black woman/man/really anyone to grow their hair. Black people can grow their hair as long as anyone else. We have MANY hair textures, and "nappy" doesn't apply to everyone. While it is generally more difficult for us to retain length, it is not impossible or uncommon for us to do so. I, myself, have hair to the middle of my back. It isn't "flowing", no; it's either in an afro or a variety of other styles.
I have seriously contemplated cutting off my own hair because it is SO thick and SO much work and always has been. It'd be amazing to not take upwards of 30min to wash by just buzzing it all off! But, I don't have Vivienne's sexy headshape and I'd look like a potato if I did so. xD
In reality, Vivienne is most likely bald because of animation problems or clipping or something, but if her hair is anything like mine, I'd lop it off too. I think she looks gorgeous, just wish I could see her smile.
Couldn't agree more
.
I could see Vivienne having long thick hair naturally and cutting it off because maybe it was too much work for her and it couldn't fit under her hats.
By black I mean a person of direct African descent.it sounds like you are generalizing
Its scientific and surprise you do not know this of your own country which one of the most diverse places in the world
They do its called dreads which is one example and many African Americans and blacks here in the USA I can speak of have long hair or curly not nappy if you mean extremely short or wire like.
I disagree with your usage of the word black, blacks are many different ethnicity the term itself is not a ethnic but a race group on skin color or those from hot climates and close to the equator or anyone with a linage from those people
Maybe its diff for every country in terms of how they view race, if anything blacks have a lot of hair then really really long hair
By black I mean a person of direct African descent.
Blacks of direct African descent have little differences by different tribal groups of descendants just like white people, but overall the same hair, and skin color features. Extreme North, North East Africans are the few and only ones who are different because they have heavy Arabic mixtures in their blood. I come from Zimbabwe which is in southern Africa, right on top of South Africa, and right next to Botswana, and Mozambique (east Africa). Every full blooded African or black person, can produce extreme light skin no matter what the conditions, but our hair will never flow down. Though some tribes have east Asian features (by which I mean the San, and Khoisan`s smaller eyes) they always possess their nappy hair which can only grow up.
Dreads are knitting down that hair and making it look like it flows.
People are vast and different, it's a matter of accepting your own differences (and other people's differences), and respecting them.
...
Me? I think Vivienne looks sexy, especially her lips.
Once again Africa is diverse and the indigenous Africans have not only the most genetic diversity [out of the population of our species all over the world since Africa is where we all came from long ago] but also feature wise for their are many different ethnics. Of course all of them share similarities of skin and some facial features for they live in a similar environment or hot climate and I can tell apart a Wodaabe from a Masai and a bushmen, and so on which are different ethnicitys of black. Same for whites for their environment, from Russians, Italians, and Scottish their are similarities and some different facial features or hair
I would not use today's north Africans for a example since the Arabic invaded and settled their long ago when they conquered Egypt along with Greeks Romans etc but anyway--that's a difference if we are talking about indigenous Africans but yeah some are and not mixed with Arabic
Also you are using your usage of the term black. Do you mean no black that's not mixed with anything outside of the continent of Africa? Because here in the USA majority of African Americans and blacks do have long curly hair. Lot of it too. Tho many blacks in the USA are at least mixed with native American, white, and Latino but still are black or identify as such so its different here then your home,
Also their are different hair lengths and textures for "pure" Africans you speak of, I for sure notice many of them have short, long[shoulder length or little more longer], and different textures of hair, so I still would not say all blacks have little to no hair and wirely always
People are vast and different, it's a matter of accepting your own differences (and other people's differences), and respecting them--- I do understand that but I think it should be up to individual to decide that for themselves I was just explaining in terms of the universal science of our species
Am speaking of ethnic not race which are two different things
Also of course Vivienne is sexy lol but the hair debate on this forum its clear they made her bald or shaved cut since its all that was seen in the concept art I guess
okay guys let's clear something up. " not all black people are african " true... am not racist, i am not here because i have a gender issue with women with short hair. the issue am addressing is not having women with long hair, just like if all the women had long hair someone would ask " well why isn't there anyone with short hair? " it's the same principle. Sure it suits her some might say and others might disagree... in DA 2 you had bethany and isabella, different personalities, hair suited them and it was long and you had merill with her short hair and Aveline with medium. It's not to say that "hey in every game's companion we should meet people of different hair length" because it imposes that it's as important as other factors like personality which is untrue.
But can't you notice that this refects their personality as well? cassandra has short boyish hair which suits her incredibly strong "batteling ram" attitude. Sera also has a haircut that matches her class in a sense and makes her special. Vivienne is called the lady of iron... sure it means she is tough, but obviously since cassandra is the strong one it would suggest that she at least retains some expression of her feminin nature (not to say that long hair = girl and short hair = boy but long hair accentuates the female features). Plus the short hair promoted for women in media and video games is a bit too much. Personaly vivienne would look better and more true to her persona if she had medium hair, maybe braided and not necessarily the bushy kind as some suggested. something elegant to reflect her post and proffesional resilience after all she is the "lady" of iron.
Solas and IB are both shaved as well, neither is old enough to be completely bald naturally.

uhm you don't have to be old in order to be bald. Some are bald naturally by the age of 25, and i actually read somewhere that people shaved themselves with blades back then or plucked their hairs one by one as the romans did in their bathhouses (screams would be heard echoing in the bathhouse from such treatment). But ok we don't need to go into detail how they did it. obviously until now solas and the bull are bald naturally i presume. and plz... no hairy legs and armpits... I am not here to argue gender roles and appearences but bushy armpit hair on girls is so not attractive... but you could have a different opinion.
Not all black people have "nappy" short hair.
Vivienne's hair could naturally be down her back for all we know, she just chooses to shave it.
While possible, outside of concept art, I'm really hoping it wa just the concept art showing head structure and not going into much detail about her and so on underneath the headdress, perhaps because a finalized her style wasn't agreed upon yet, or because her taking off the headdress for one particular scene perhaps a personal one is kind of a secret revealing moment for the player and they don't want to ruin it, but whatever the reason, and whatever the result im hoping the concept art is NOT the final say in what in my opinion would hurt more than mark as memorable a interesting character. (Of course it's just my opinion.)
She's actually secretly a Qunari and the hats hide her horns

Patrick Stewart apparently went bald at a young age and hair loss isn't the only hair-related thing that can happen early. Brit TV presenter Phillip Scofield was grey by 25 but people didn't realise as he dyed his hair. I know of someone who went gray at 16
Hope the hair mistery does not take 'Tali's mask' proportions, we all know how that endend, in aan awful rendered photo that was just plain disapointing...
I actually kinda wish she would take the headdress off while fighting, I think her clothes is the focal point of her look. Not long flowing locks, like I said before buzzed hair really puts the focus on the facial structure and it's beauty.
I really hope she is buzzed ![]()

People should probably stop drawing staunch parallels between real-life ethnicities and those in fantasy settings, particularly video games. They share a skin tone. That is literally it. The rest is perfectly subject to creative discretion.
i see the first incoming mod for dragon age inquisition:
Viviene with hair: choose between
1.- short hair
2.- shoulder length hair
3.- back long hair
4.- RAPUNZEL
She's bald so she can fit a large amount of ornate hats on at a moments notice.

She is human, and her writer, Mary Kirby, said she is black.
Personally I want her to have a dark cesar with a crisp shape up. Mmmmm...
She kinda remind me of Safiya ![]()
Oh and by the way, sorry for saying she's bald.English is not my native language and thought the word "bald" applies for people that shave their head too.
My bad.
She is human, and her writer, Mary Kirby, said she is black.
You missed the point by miles there, dude. Whether or not she is 'black' is irrelevant, what that means in our world can mean something completely different in a completely fictional one. So, once again, staunch parallels, stop it.
