Why don't we have a fleet or at least agents on the oceans?

Hey guys (Bioware and fans :) ),

I have been thinking back to the companions we had in past games - and when I came to Isabela (which I loved very much!) it struck me:

Why does the Inquisition - for all its power (and we saw some material of burning some enemies ships early on, if I remember correctly!) - not have a proper fleet (control of the oceans and trade would be nice)?

I mean, a ship as a mode of transport (at least for parts of the game) might have been nice (a sea-battle might have been hard to make, but that would have been fun...more than an Orlesian Ball at least ;) )...

Well, for future games something like that would be nice (visiting the fought over islands and the Qunari Home of Par Vollen would be possible with that!) - meeting the people keeping the Qunari-Fleets at bay might be nice, too (and getting Isabela on bord once more would be cool as well - maybe as the fleet-advisor?...note: Having advisors just be companions with more tasks than simply accompanying you and being your muscle would be nice, too - having people you can't take on missions, while knowing that most of them can fight (Leliana and Cullen can both fight...ok, Scribbles (forgott her name...shame on me!) is not cool!)

So - stage is yours, add your thoughts, discuss etc. :)

greetings LAX

ps: a DEV-Comment would be nice (I would also like to know if you guys have thoughts for the next game already? :) - Not the actual thoughts (would be nice, too but I don't think you want to tell us anything - you are still to secretive for my tastes concerning Inquisition!), but if you are already planing for it or not is enough :)

I think the reason is they can only add so much.  Add ships and sea travel to a game already this huge and expansive, especially with romances, party members with personalities and content, war stuff, I mean really there's so much that adding that is just a bit too much to things right now.  I mean I suppose our having a fleet in the background acquired and run through or advisers and the war map wouldn't be too much, but then what are we doing with it unless we also add other places that can only be gotten to via ship.  While yes there's the qunari homeland and such, they aren't a big and integral part to this current plot.  While it could be made such, right now it really just isn't a priority I'm afraid.

As for the future, sure I see it.  In fact I'm half expecting the next game to require it.  After the blight, the mage/templar civil war, fixing the rifts, ect, everything is ripe for a Qunari conquest.  I fully expect the next game will be the Qunari coming to finish everyone off in their weakened state.  Is a hard opportunity to pass up.  In such a plot I would expect a chance to take the fight back to them on their home turf as well.

They're saving it for DA4, which is set in Rivain/Tevinter. /WMG

It just wasn't in the scope of what Bioware wanted to do with either the gameplay or story elements of this game. The scope is already pretty big without it.

They wouldn't want to "steal" awesome naval sailing and combat from assassins creed 4?

Would have definitely made it a lot more open in that sense, but we shouldn't ask for ships since they just started using mounts. Lets see how that goes then upgrade it to a ship. Wouldn't want it to be used as the Normandy was for ME:2 though, gotta have more of the sense you are sailing the ship, rather then gliding across a flat galaxy.
