Lately, we've received some nibblets of information on crafting lately and how adding different materials changes the weapon's function.

Do we know whether it's possible to just change an item's appearance and not stats?

I would have sacrificed a metaphorical goat if I could have just worn my starting outfit as a mage in DA2, for instance. Could we do that in DAI?

If I can customize my equipment I feel sorry for my troops and war map lol.  I'll end up spending all my resources making outfits instead of gearing up my troops lol.

I may lose the war, but I'll look good doing it!

It would be nice if we could cosmetically use a one hander in place of a two hander, most of the two handers throughout the DA series have offended me to no end. I've never played a character who wields a two hander because of it.

You know, the more I think about this, the more I like the idea.  Would make it so I can play on a higher setting while still enjoying my look.  I have a tendency to find the one armor set I find actually attractive and pretty and stubbornly refusing to change it no matter how much it hurts, and how much better the stats on other armors are.

It would be nice to not have to make the sacrifice of style for function even if it took a lot of work to do so.  "Realism" of the outfit be damned is my character and I'm willing to jump through hoops for an outfit I feel is pretty.

Before anyone says anything about chainmail bikini's, I'm not a fan either.  I just think there's a balanced compromise between realism and attractive that can be reached.  Chainmail bikini's and rediculous amounts of flesh is too much, but realism to the point everyone needs to be a walking potbellied tin can is just as bad.  Both are extremes, and I think both the give me my half nekked chick crowd and the I need to be completely accurate and protected in every way regardless if anyone else thinks such is garish and ugly need to realize that asking for their extreme completely alienates the other side, and completely screwed anyone that wants some both modest and sexy.

It's a game, everyone from all three categories to an extent deserves representation.  Is not like there's not going to be enough armor sets for it.

Also more people need to share rather than restrict.  If you don't like something in game, don't wear it, but don't demand no one else can have it because you don't like it.  Believe it or not sometimes we can all get what we want if willing to allow the same for others.

Mostly, however, I feel the outfit of character in a movie, or game, or any other work of fiction should be representative of the personality of the character and who they are as a person over any functionality of the outfit.  I prefer style over function, and things can be stylish, but not fully functional without being overtly nude as possible.

For example Varric's outfit in dragon age 2.  I loved it on him and was perfect for his character, I'm sad to see it gone replaced by the same full body armor we all are getting.  I guess no more chest hair jokes, alas...

So yes I'd love to have customizable outfits, so that when I find a style I fall in love with (sadly rare in dragon age or most games really, again with the whole extremes thing either way) I can wear it always and say, "this outfit here, this fits how I envision my character"

Hopefully there's a wide array of styles and looks and we can just keep upgrading them (like in SWtOR). Some of my characters I like to play serious business, some I just do whatever fits their personality and don't care if it's not protective enough or too protective, but some I just want to be silly with and have fun.

My trooper in his "heavy armor" (it's adaptive with mods and is now very defensive heavy armor for real lol)

I keep seeing this thread and thinking ‘cosmic crafting’?  What is this cosmic crafting?  And why wasn’t such a feature available in previous games?  Yeah, give me some cosmic crafting.

Seriously though, I loved enchanting and messing around with runes and upgrading mine and the companions weapons and gear, I don’t know if I would use a feature if the changes were just cosmetic as I like the levelling up and stats associated with certain weapons and gear.

Happy dance!  Sometimes I feel like dressing my character like a stripper, sometimes that makes me go "brr, put some clothes on, girl!"

Although I pretty much universally prefer clothing and weapons that don't make me think "one shrug and that spike is going STRAIGHT up her nose" or "how has she not accidentally tied herself to a tree and/or an enemy with all that fabric flopping around?"  Heck, I've managed to almost choke myself to death just walking down the hall in a standard Tshirt and shorts.

Also "that must be glued in place or one little bounce and it's Wardrobe Malfunction time".

That's good to know. Most of my favorite weapons/armor usually were the low level stuff (like Warrior Hawke's starting armor), whereas the high level gear (like the Champion armor) looked like it would put out an eye.
