Want proof of a tal-vashoth culture? Fog warriors. Fenris doesn't outright say they're tal-vashoth, but considering the location and the fact that Fenris learned how to speak the Qunari language at some point, and fog is white or grey just like tal-voshoth are "true grey ones", I think it can be inferred that they were tal-vashoth.

I thought it was pretty obvious that the fog warriors wert the original settlers of Sheron.

To be fair, with the way Bioware has to make those races being that to make sense it had to be the way they set it up now.

Although with the Elf and Dwarf being a spy it could work half-way with what you excepted. The Dalish Rogue/Warrior could be undercover as a servent and the Dalish Mage (still being a First) could be undercover as a Circle Mage. The Dwarf could easily pose as a Merchant at the peace summit (or a Templar :P)

For the Human warrior/rogue, their backstory is still somewhat different than the Origins story. As for the qunari, honest them being mercs/sellswords for the Chantry is the only one that can make sense for them.

So while they might not be what you excepted they might still meet you half-way (for the Dalish and Dwarf spy at least)

No they won't. Dalish only is still the worst news of Inquisition and I see no half-way in the Dwarf backstory.

Yep, from the wiki:

The Fog Warriors are a group of freedom fighters native to the jungles of Seheron. They seek to make it independent from both Qunari and Imperium rule.  They arrive silently amid a deep and unnatural fog that is assumed to be magical. They paint their armor and skin a pale white to blend into their surroundings. Each group of warriors has its own fog dancer who recites the legends of old.

Over-reacting much?

I like that we have Tal-Vashoth mercenary group who does more than just waylay merchant caravans. In DAO we saw a lot of bodyguards (still guarding rather unscrupulous individuals), but in DA2 they were basically just savage marauders, the lot of them.

I love the new class section.

My canon will be a Human Male Rogue Artificier.

What I love about it is how their backstory it works beautifully with the plans I have for the character.

Dragon symbol / heraldry. Love that.

Bonus ability point. Hell yeah ! #humanmasterrace.

Artificer Rogue. Sneak + devious and deadly contraptions.

Young age and the youngest. Sounds good though would have preferred young and eldest.

A life of privilege. That means good education, good training and the option to be a jerk.

Close ties to Chantry, Expected follow other family members in service of the Maker. Which plays nicely into the closet athiest / agnostic character.

Assist relatives to make peace between mages and templars. Meh, more likely I will be assessing the situation for my own personal ends.

:D

Well hopefully you find something you can make work... As much as I love the Dalish, I do wish there was a circle elf option as well.

I'm sure most of the character building for your PC will come as you play, not cemented from your background so there is most likely wiggle room for you! :)

Considering how these backstories ruined any ideas I had and me not liking what they are, I think that is perfectly justified reaction.

You wanted the weakling's rogue and warriors to be templars. That is no simple heresy... its EXTRA HERESY.

Yes, I wanted to experience a truly new backstory. How foolish of me.  <_<

Hopefully. I don't want "Oh by the way, this is what you were before" to keep popping up.

So you are mad that BioWare decided not to follow your hopes and dreams in making a game?

Seeing as BioWare wants more reactivity to your race it probably will.

There goes some more hopes and dreams crushed...

I could get behind templar for warrior or rogue elf, but I did really want a Keeper or First origin, and I understand them wanting to keep all the origins within one race fundamentally the same as well. (all of them being from the Lavellan clan, in this case)

Not angry, upset. There is a difference. I don't see how being upset about this is wrong.

The templar for warrior or rogue elf would also have to apply to City Elf, and it would have to be Warrior only for the sake of Specialization

But we had those templar hunters in DA2, and it makes no sense why a rogue couldn't be affiliated with the templars in any case, even if they don't have the templar specialization. (though I'd have liked to see a rogue themed templar spec too, if there weren't so precious few specialization slots)

Lore-wise the Templar hunters while rogues did have the Templar Spec because they also need the anti-magic ability

If the Dalish Mage gets Dalish magic as a backstory skill tree(no idea if they are doing this), then the Templar skills could have been the equivalent of that.

I would agree if Templar wasn't a Warrior Spec

Well, if they went that route I doubt it would have been.

Apparently it involves the fact the Carta is smuggling Lyrium.

Nah its your fault for expecting too much when they only have room for extremely limited options. Be thankful we're getting other races at all.

And anyway some of your options could be covered by the provided backstories and others are clearly in contradiction to the information that has been known for a long time now.

If there is one crime group that would be effected by such a war between mages and templars its them, have to know how things are going to go so you know how to sell and move product to various factions. Lyrium is the templars drug of choice after all and they have a lot of access.
