Im confused, did the peace talks not go well, or did they go horribly wrong?
It doesn't really matter how they went (or were going), because everyone involved died.

I'm pretty sure that counts as not going well.

If we are talking about the outcome sure, if we are talking about the negations themselves the explosion isn't necessarily a reflection of how poor the negotiating was going, instead it just overwrites and progress (or lack thereof) made by killing everyone.
Before they started putting in cinematic conversations and voicing the characters, it was possible to play a much wider array of characters. No, I agree with her. Too many people make up these insane character concepts, and then say Bioware is "dumbing down" the game when they aren't possible. I'm looking at you, wanna-be blood mages...

I likr to pkay subversive characters. Or against type. My original Shepard design was a meticulous and pedantic man who didn't raise his voice. In prior games, I would have been able to play that character.
I actually like that they moved to voiced PC. That allows us (or character) to join the party banter unlike silent protogonist. The opposite (I guess) is games like Oblivion where the way you talk is all in your head...

Not really. You got limited dialogue options that did absolutely nothing onscreen and had little effect on other characters. It was boring. The PC's had no depth, no development, nothing.
If you were playing a character with any depth to them, it was because you subsituted, in your own head, better dialogue than what was written.
At least then you get to decide.I actually like that they moved to voiced PC. That allows us (or character) to join the party banter unlike silent protogonist. The opposite (I guess) is games like Oblivion where the way you talk is all in your head...
They had whatever development you decided they had. And they had as much effect on NPCs as they do now - that hasn't changed. But now you don't get to decide what your character says or how he says it.Not really. You got limited dialogue options that did absolutely nothing onscreen and had little effect on other characters. Wait, what? The dialogue the writers provided was wholly adequate. All you had to provide was motive. If you were playing a character with any depth to them, it was because you subsituted, in your own head, better dialogue than what was written.

If you are talking about Oblivion - no you don't:D
...which you dont. You mean the auto-dialogue in party banter? i read on these forums that this time we will be given the choice how to respond(or dont). I hope it turns out to be true. I hated that I was just silent when Fenris insulted Merrill....especially in romance...
....actually give us ways to respond physically in such instances:)
I'm actually curious how the Inquisitor being able to respond will affect banter since some banter seemed to be written as two characters talking by themselves rather than in the group, and we were simply there to hear it for the sake of not having to go to a cutscene of them talking as well as the devs wanting us to hear it.

Two things: no, they didn't. NPC's actually react to what you say now, whereas in KOTOR they pretty much ignore you until you hit the LS/DS options. That's not a dialogue, that's being read to.
Secondly, you've just proven my point. Your subsituting your headcanon for what's actually in the game. Your playing half a character. It would be fine if this were a pen-and-paper, where you literally speak for your character, but it isn't. We are playing somebody else's character, and it is the game developer's responsibility to make sure we actually have a character to play.
Wait, what? The dialogue the writers provided was wholly adequate. All you had to provide was motive.
But now, motive is a mystery. There's no way for the player to know what the PC is going to say or why.
If he's my character, then giving him a personality is my job. If he's not my character, I don't want to play him.
Two things: one, if the dialogue does not provide characterization, it is poor dialogue. It's that simple. And pre-voiced game dialogue does not provide characterization.
Secondly, they aren't your characters, Sylvius. They never were. They are BioWare's (or whoever's licensed them). And it is their job to provide characterization.
Maybe go for older games falconlord5. Torment or Baldur's Gate for example If I am not mistaken Kotor had voiced NPC. All the time not just here and there. The way they reply to what you are saying will force you to construct how you just said whatever you just said imo.

Yes it did. And they did not respond to your character's dialogue very often. You had five or six lines that produced the exact same reaction.
That's not dialogue. The characters are not responding to each other. That's filler, designed to use up a word budget.
No offence to BioWare (or GameFreak, which is even worse) but that's terrible fiction.
Awww.. I want to be a religious Qunari...
Too bad... if you choose a religious Qunari girl the game could remove you from main quest and let you tend your shop and farm
just because you are a mercenary doesn't mean you can't be religious.
just because you are a mercenary doesn't mean you can't be religious.
if your qunari it does. see arishok's reply to you saying you meet a honorable tal-vashoth.

Come again?

DA2 reference. Could be spoilers if you haven't played the game I guess.
I was just having a little trouble reading the sentence, my head is a bit tired.
Ahem. I'm adding these for those who missed the "Inquisitor" section of the site. Hopefully it'll be up and running (and improved) again, soon!
